  • Impossible to install Halo Combat evolved Version 1 on Windows 7

So far, I have found the windows operating system 7 is very useful. However, when trying to install my old previous OS games, he runs problems. For example, I can not install the .msi or Halo Combat evolved Version 1 icefields.map file and therefore cannot play the game. It worked on my last, XP 64-bit, the computer and should work on Windows 7, as it worked on an OLDER operating system. I know you have had this problem with other games too and that the store doesn't have to work on the extension .msi files, but I don't see why one of these occur. There is no logic that the convenience store would work on the extension .msi files (although I'm not a computer expert) and I guess it would be an eassy and interesting problem to solve, as many of the issues online were based on this. Also, I was particularly surprised that Halo has not worked because it was made by Microsoft, is still commonly used and would be easy to send an additional patch on fixing the problem. Finally, I had planned and currently still plan to buy the newest games from Microsoft and halo (and many others, more recent games), but I think that the incompatibility between Windows 7 and these older games is unacceptable, a scam full and easy to fix. Sorry for the bother you and I hope this issue is resolved quickly.

To say the things in question form: Microsoft can solve this problem, so that its customers are satisfied by the new operating system?

  • Halo: Combat Evolved not install because af a failed copy in a10.map

    Hi Microsoft responds.

I recently tried to install Halo: Combat Evolved on my PC.

I entered the product key and it started to install, but after copyed 2% of the files, it stops at: a10.map

Here, he tells me he has a disk problem, and I need to check if the place I copy that it is already in use, which is not and check if I have enough disk space on the C: drive, what I'm doing.

    How can I fix it?

    Christian barks

I'll try running it in compatibility mode.

Most of the games are compatible with Win7. I know for a fact that halo is compatible, as I have on my win7 64 bit system and it works fine. It might be a problem with the actual CD.

If you have the cd key, you can download an .iso of the halo installation CD and allows to install it.

Or, if you intend to play Halo for the multiplayer, I would say get Halo: Custom Edition (requires a cd-key) here:http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=410

It's the same as Halo with 2 major differences. 1. you can not play the solo mode directly (the campaign is not displayed in the menu and the cards are not in the folder program files) and 2. personalized cards (as in all new cards, not only the cards that have been modded) can be played. There are many custom maps and they are very fun to play.

As I said you can not read 'directly' solo in Custom Edition, however it is possible. Just download campaign maps, here:http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=1&sid=35

These solo cards were made by mapping team CMT and include changes and improvements on the original maps (for example, vehicles and weapons of halo 2). Once you have downloaded the maps, turn on the console (go to the properties of the halo CE shortcut and add - console at the end of the target line.) Thus, for example, "C:\Users\Custom Edition.exe \Desktop\Halo" - console

Once the console is enabled, start the game, open the console with ~ (1 left) and type in map_name so for example map_name a10 for level 1.

If my explanation is not very good, there is also an article here: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?nid=386

    Hi stewart haas.

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

You are able to install any other application on your computer?

Restart your computer and try to reinstall it. And also make sure that there is enough free space on drive C for the game to install.

You can check if the program is running or not in Task Manager.

Steps to open the Task Manager:

    1. right click on the taskbar and select Task Manager.

    2. on the Applications tab, if you find the running application then select it and click the end task button.

If you are still getting the same error control for this game in the Task Manager on the processes tab, if you find then select him and click the end task button.

If the method above doesn't help you solve your problem then perform the clean boot on your computer and then try to reinstall the game.

To perform a clean boot on a computer, follow these steps.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the Load Startup items check box.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

If your issue is resolved, follow the how to determine what is causing the problem section in KB article to narrow down the exact source.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796 . In addition, refer to the section on how to restore your computer to a Normal startup mode

If the problem still persists, then try the method below.

Run the installation program in compatibility mode

    1. Locate the installation program that will install the program.

    2. right click on the installer, and then click Properties.

    3. on the compatibility tab, click to select the checkbox run this program in compatibility mode for .

    4. in the list, select the operating system that the program ran on previously, and then click OK. If you don't know which version of Windows, the program previously worked, you can start by selecting the option of Windows XP Service Pack 2.

    5. try to install the program.

If the program is still not installed, continue to the next step.

Run the installer from the program as an administrator

To run the program as an administrator, follow these steps:

    1. Locate the installation program that will install the program.

    2. right click on the installer and then click run as administrator.

    3. try to install the program.

  • Halo: Combat Evolved for PC works only on Windows Vista - Error Message "" unload the debugger, and then try again."

I'm having a problem running Halo: Combat Evolved on Windows Vista. I can insert the disc and install the game without problem. The problem is that when I try to launch the game, I get error message saying "" unload the debugger, and then try again." I tried to install some of Halo patches to see if that would fix the error (for example, 1.6 and 1.7), but when I try and open the patch .exe file I get an error message telling me to go to a microsoft Web site or try to update the game manually. In addition, I tried to contact Gearbox Software to see if they could help me, all they said was to contact Microsoft.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the game does not work for me and how can I make it work?

    Method 2:
Create a new account of a user who has administrative rights. Then use this user account to download and install the game update separately. To do this, follow these steps:
a.Create a new account user with administrative rights.
    Create a user account.
b.Log out of the current user account.
c.Log log on to the computer by using the new account that you created.
d.After you log on to the computer, refer to the following Microsoft Web site to download and install the game update:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/games/halo/downloads.aspx
Note: When you install the update, the installation may take more time to process some of the files in the update. This problem occurs because of the size of the file that is updated or the amount of data to be embedded in the file. If you see the update installation progress not for a while, wait game update installation continues and ends.
e.Log out of the new user account.
    f. log on the computer by using your original user account. Then, play the game.

  • Halo Combat evolved - installation problem - invalid CD Key?

So I bought Halo Combat Evolved for PC and tried to install it when it came today. Everything was fine. The computer is restarted after installation. Then, when I click on the shortcut, the game says my CD key is not valid, and I need to uninstall and reinstall before I could play.

Problem is that I can't understand how to install it. I went to my control panel and went to uninstall/change program, but it is not which are listed there. Not at all! How can I uninstall something when it is not yet here? Also? How my CD key is the problem? I know that I input correctly!

Alright. So apparently, you open Halo in your Microsoft Games folder on your computer (if it's where everyone installs it as I did). In this case, scroll to UNINSTAL. EXE... why the _ it must be uninstalled in a stupid way is beyond me. I'm starting to regret this purchase already.
