Try to load windows on the new drive, stuck at 'starting windows' screen

So I'm actually down ranking of windows 8 pro to windows 7 pro two 64. I was finally able to get the comp not recongize just load the USB. My problem is that when it does not start, I'm stuck at 'Starting windows' screen I was wondering, perhaps, that I need to format a patition first? It's a new Lenovo warranty hard drive. (Kind of funny how to send CD's for a laptop that doesn't have a cd player only) I looked in the formatting of a usb key, have had some difficulty in finding a reliable way... Thank you

Hi davefromsb,

Windows 8 computers have a bios "UEFI" and so will come with "Secure Boot" as well as "UEFI" only start enabled. Disable secure boot if you do not have and choose start to the "legacy" methods The problem is most likely that the image of Windows 7 which has been engraved on the USB key was burned using an instead of a TPG one MBR partition scheme. I hope this helps.

  • Loading XP on the new drive HARD on Portege 3500

    For Tom Mannerhagen if autour.
    Tom,
I gave it a few months and put the laptop in the drawer!

This time got a bit further.
Charge of 6 boot floppies and put the XP CD in a CDR/DVD USB BTC. Wonder of wonders, it starts to read!
Format using FAT32 and it launches the disk analysis.
    Then it comes up with
"The value of the following in the." SIF file used by Setup is damaged or missing.
the value 0 to the line in the section (SourceDiskFiles) with key SP1.cab
    Setup cannot continue. "

I checked the XP CD in another laptop and there is nothing wrong with it.
    Can you help me?

    Martin

My hypothesis is that the kit down.
Being probably too old configuration files. While Setup copies the files to be installed on the HARD drive, he also copied a txtsetup.sif older than replaced by sp1.cab

My only advice is to try on another kit.

If you plan to use floppy disks to install Windows XP,
Make sure that you have downloaded the correct set of installation floppies.

If your have a CD Windows XP with SP1, you must download
the installation diskettes for use with the Windows XP SP1 installation CD.

Windows 7 cannot see is not my SCSI disks when I try to install. As the IDE drive is showen but is not usable. Is there a FDISK program that can be run to solve this problem from a command promt?

    Hello

You try to access BIOS and change the SCSI to IDE in the BIOS or Raid in IDE and try to install Windows 7.

If it fails, contact your SCSI manufacturer for the latest drivers for your SCSI and install it by clicking on load drivers and try to install Windows 7.

    Hope this helps and works.

  • Windows 8 to load after replacing the hard drive

I had bought a web copy of Windows 8 download and installed correctly on my laptop. Later, the hard drive failed and was replaced by a new hard drive. I don't have a copy DVD of Windows 8, so I found my summary of order of Windows on another computer and clicked on "click here to download Windows. The files were downloaded in a hidden "ESD" folder with a subfolder of 'Windows '. The 'Windows' folder has several subfolders and a couple of files such as 'bootmgr' and 'MediaMeta '.

I loaded the folder "Windows" on a flash drive, plugged into the USB port on the computer with the replaced disk and restore the boot sequence on the computer with the new hard drive to boot from the USB port. I started the new computer hard drive with the flash drive is plugged in and a message came on the screen saying that it could not find an operating system.

  • I have four recovery disks that after I bought my computer, I did. These disks can be used to install Windows on the new drive?

My computer came with Windows 7.  Recently, my hard drive failed.  I have four recovery disks that after I bought my computer, I did.  These disks can be used to install Windows on the new drive?

    YES!

I just did mine 01/01/2016, installed a new WD 500 GB HDD black on my laptop ASUS K52F, took my DVD 4 restore disks and restored to Win 7 Home Premium, more 10 Windows, which is sitting on my old HDD in the trash. I'll stick with my Original OEM OS and never improve to WIN 10 times.

NOTE: The only time the restore disks do not work is when you replace your motherboard.

  • After you install a second WD 1 TB my book drive, Windows Explorer does not see the new drive.

    Original title: Signature Collision?

I'm having hard to the installation of a second external drive. I use Windows 7 Ultimate RC. There was a WD 1 TB drive My Book already installed - healthy and works very well. The problem occurred after installing a second WD 1 TB my book reader. I followed all the instructions, pluuging the drive to a USB hub. Windows found the disk, installed drivers and reported the new drive ready for use.

Windows Explorer does not see the new drive. Devices and printers shows 2 external drives from WD. Disk Management shows as 2 drives, but the second disk is offline because of a 'Signature' Collision

Each player works very well if it's the only drive plugged in. "Eject My Book" does not work because a program (or more) are to use the player in the background (Windows or Norton).

I installed the latest firmware and I'm still having this problem. I've been emailing WD with this problem and they are running out of ideas.

    Can anyone help?
    Thank you

  • I just installed a new drive faster. How can I get windows live mail from the old drive to the new drive

Where are the files stored WindowsLiveMail?  Under what article directory.  I have "tons" of e-mail messages stored on the old disk and need to move them to the new drive faster.  How can I do?

The location of the store folder, which contains all the messages, calendars and the account settings, is configurable by the user. The default location is
    C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

If the installer of WLMail is a record storage in the default location, it normally acknowledge and take into use if. The only user that would be required should reinstate saved passwords. If this is to succeed, the old and new installations of WLMail normally must be exactly the same construction. The storage location must be in place in the default location on the new drive before installing WLMail. Also, the current user must be the owner of the record store to its new location.

If the old drive is installed on the same computer as the new facility in WLMail, you can point the Import Wizard to import messages to the old folder of the store. They will find under storage folders into imported folders.

  • If I create an image of my windows 7 hard drive, should the new drive size match the old drive?

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I want to let you know that the free space on the new drive should be more than the size of the backup.

  • Satellite Pro P200 - 17 c: Win XP won't load - installation of the SATA driver

    Hello

I have a satellite pro p200 - 17 c I've had good years, allways worked without any problem.

Last week when I booted the laptop, windows won't load and I find myself safe mode selection screen. No options whatsoever me to windows loading, I tried F8 and still nothing.

I tried the restore cd that reimagee the drive but I get the same thing, I tried a new hard drive, once again the same.

But if I try to load windows from an OEM to install that software does not because it is a sata drive and there is no floppy drive. I have an external floppy drive I use, but it is not known now.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hello

Go to BIOS and set it to default settings.

In this case the SATA mode must be on AHCI. In this case the SATA drivers are required to install the Windows operating system. But as much as I know that Windows 7 already contains the SATA drivers if usually you don t had to add SATA drivers while OS installation the installation program.

However, here is a nice HowTo document that helps you add SATA drivers for Win XP installation disc.

  • Cannot transfer Time Machine backups on the new drive

I store my backup Time Machine on a Seagate 1.5 TB drive when the drive starts giving errors.  I had files on this computer and was able to transfer all except for 2 who were on unreadable sectors.  Fortunately, one of these files was an older archived version that I could afford to give up and the other was a temporary file in the photo library and since all other items were okay, I think I'm good.

The problem came when I tried to transfer my Time Machine backup of 800 GB for a new disk.  When I copy and Exact-paste (cmd-opt-shift-v) the Backups.backupdb to the new drive, it gets the extent of November 23, 2015 and then dies because reports of the Console to the system, it gets an IO error when you try to read:

    /Library/SystemMigration/history/migration-245250B6-4F52-4FBB-BD61-546A8C19CCD5/ QuarantineRoot/private/var/db/dyld/dyld_shared_cache_x86_64

in the relevant backup.  And because it's an IO error it simply abandons the whole process so I have no backup from November 23, included, for now.

Because the disc is unstable, I wasn't able to use disk utility to make repairs on it.  The disc is what is and I have to deal with the mess, that I do not have the disorder, that I would have.

I tried to manually place the missing files in the database, but the operating system will not let me.  I want to just copy my backup / OS X stop abandonment and be more like Windows and give me the options to "try again" or "fail" instead of just quitting!  I mean, why should I lose my backup all hierarchy of 23 November and beyond, simply because you cannot read a file, a file that I could simply replace in the backup of the current version or you can just ignore it.

I tried to copy files on and setting xattr on them to be backup items, but they are wrong.  I tried chflags parameter to make the writable directory, but it does not work.  I can't copy the missing files to fix my archives.  Help.

Please, don't try to transfer backups of a failed drive. Placing the disk aside until you don't know no longer you need the data, then delete and recycle. Start a new backup set on the new drive. For more security, you always have more than one backup.
