try to secure my connection

Hello

Recently, after a power outage, my router started connection on the Linksys network that is not secure. I had set up my own personal network and connected very well until this Division of power. I lost my installation CD and I can't open the download file type that I receive from Linksys.

So, I'm running on an unsecured Linksys network. My home network is always on the list, but I can't connect to it.

What I would do. I have a Breakfast & bed, and I can't afford to run on an unsecured network.

Thank you

Perhaps because of the loss of power, your router settings must have reset to zero and that is the reason for your network unsecured wireless...

To secure your wireless network, you don't need to have a Setup disk, you can manually configure all the settings on your router...

Wired computer to the router by an Ethernet cable, open a page in Internet Explorer browser on a computer hard wired to the router... In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1... Leave name empty username & password admin lowercase usage...

Once you connect to the router configuration page, you must click on the tab 'Wireless' and below, you can change the "Wireless Networks SSID name" in your name and change the channel to 11-2 wireless, 462 GHz and allow the broadcast of the SSID should be activate and click on save settings...

Then, you click the sub-tab "Wireless Security" and in the window, you can enable security on your router. Select "WPA Personal" and the WPA Shared key enter your security key and click on save settings...

Now, you can try to connect to your wireless network.

  • How to access the USB secure key on windows vista, I get the message that application 10004 could not find any JumpDrive Secure device connected to your system

Original title: how access key USB secure Windows vista

I have a lexar player sure to jump that I used with an old computer that has Windows XP.  I now have a new computer with Windows Vista and I can't access the secure part of the USB key.  When I try to access the part secure the USB key I have the following message "Application [-10004] could not find any JumpDrive Secure device connected to your system. Please make sure that your JumpDrive Secure device is inserted into a USB port".

Of course, the USB key is inserted into the USB port.  If anyone can help find me a way to access the part secure the USB key I would appreciate it.  Thank you.

    Hi Jon0909,

The error that you received can be for several reasons. I suggest you try the following steps:

Method 1: Run the fixit available in the link below and check if that makes a difference

Tips for solving problems of USB devices

Method 2: This normal matter as a result of a conflict between the USB and other USB (Universal Serial Bus) connected to the computer.

    (a) disconnect all the external devices connected to the computer to expect the mouse and keyboard, check if your USB key works.

    (b) If this solves the problem, and then add back both devices until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.

If the problem persists, you can contact the manufacturer of the device for any known issues

  • Securing internet connection Wi - Fi with Equium L10 and Belkin router

    Hello

I installed a wireless belkin router on my laptop L10 and have an excellent connection to the internet - everything works fine. However, I would like to secure the connection to prevent indiscreet listening - I tried to do this under the encryption and authentication of the menus, but I'm not sure about the different acronyms used - eg Shared, WEP and WPA for example.

I tried different combinations of these, but the laptop disconnects just from the router until I return to the connection 'open' standard with encryption disabled. Can someone point me in the right direction... ??

    Hello Dan

Your router is unknown to me, but encryption is still working on the same path. Check the security settings of your router, then select security options. Set the encryption you want to use (WEP) and the password.
Your device must be configured as described on this page
    http://LSS.wisc.edu/~Sara/wireless/pcwepconfig.htm

If everything is done on the right track to avoid any problems. I also use WIFI at home with 64-bit encryption, and I spent 10 minutes for any configuration.

I was told that all security USB connections is disabled in the BIOS. The only controls for this PC is USB ports for mouse and keyboard control ect.  How can I get into the bios without keyboard and mouse in operation? There is no other way to control this model computer. The only connections on this PC is only the USB connections. Again, if I can get somehow get into the BIOS I can enable security USB connections as it should.

    UPDATE,

    Fixed a problem.

I have install a market after card bipassing USB bios usb connections.  I went in the BIOS and turned on USB connections. I figured out the EASY DIFFICULTY and solved the problem myself. No other technology needed in this case.

    Very EASY SOLUTION!

my computer wouldn't let me download lime wire... and every time I try a security alert appears.

    Hi juannfallen,

Welcome to the Microsoft community newsgroups. I suggest you try these options:

The question can be caused also by your security program such an antivirus or a firewall of Windows /Defender that can have conflicting parameters as to not not to perform certain tasks. I suggest you temporary disable antivirus and firewall and check the result again. You must activate new security that you was disabled programs.

For more information, visit the Microsoft Web sites at the following address and check if the Windows or Windows Defender firewall is causing this problem. It is suggested to make changes and to allow certain applications to run through these by the use of exceptions rather than turn them which can cause serious problems for the security of the computer:

1 explore the features: Windows Firewall

    2. turn Windows Firewall on or off

    3. Understanding Windows Firewall settings

4 explore the features: Windows Security Center

    5. using Windows Defender

    6. turn Windows Defender on or off

7 Windows Vista: antispyware software - Microsoft Security

8 real-time protection real turn Windows Defender or disable

If the problem persists, return with the following details:

1: name of the security of the software

    2: exact security alert

Let me know if it works. Good luck!

    Hope this information is useful.

    Thank you and best regards,

    KKS Vijay

  • Z10 Z10 blackBerry does not start since then try a secure erase

I had problems where none of my text messages have been moved during the previous Blackberry, such as reported earlier today. I was also disappointed by the speed of handset, BBM for example would take at least 5 seconds to load (now on my old torch), so I made a secure erase so I could try the installation again. This seems to have been a mistake, as the handset now does not start. I see "Blackberry" appear for a second, then get a logo that seems to be asking me to connect the unit to a PC. It does nothing - the PC does even not record that a device has been plugged in. After a minute or so, the screen fades and the handset appears just to turn off. I'm very disappointed in my first day with the handset - far from a smooth experience as it should be, I was left the impression that OS10 is still in early beta development.

What can I do to remedy this?

    kb33480 should help you.

  • No secure WiFi connection. Need firewall software?

my wifi connection is not safe here, believe so I need to install a firewall on iPad software to enable my email be directed to real addresses I choose to send them to, rather than, when seized upward, and the word 'send' is pressed, then this particular and other e-mail, they will directly in my "Outbox? (I suppose that this is here just for that?) For email be directed on if there is no secure connection... ?).

Is there a Web site for these firewalls in order to "liberate" these e-mails from their "blocked situation" and allow them to be redirected to the right inboxes? I would really appreciate a response to this call...?

If your mail is your Outbox and stay there, so you should receive some kind of error message. Generally, errors like this have to do with connection to your outgoing mail server. If you receive an error message, what is the exact error you receive?

  • Security not connected Center

When I arrived at the center of security via the Control Panel, when it connects, a statement at the top of the page indicates that the Security Center is currently unavailable because the "Security Center" is not started or was stopped.  Then tells me to restart your computer and start the service Security Center and then open the Security Center again.  I don't know how to start the Security Center service, and when I restart the computer, the same message appears.  The taskbar do not have a Security Center icon.  How can I restart it?

    You are XP, correct?

Press the Windows key (or Start ) and R both at the same time. This will open the RUN dialog box.
Then delete/clear all entries inside RUN it, enter Services.MSC in the RUN dialog box, and then press ENTER.

The list of services should be in alphabetical order.  Scroll down the page until you find "Security Center".  Tell us if it is started (or Virgin) and what the startup type (Automatic, manual, disabled).

  • uninstall the wireless printer. Try to install using connection USB installed on a network.

Try to install HP Officejet 6500 wireless by using the USB connection. Installed on a network.  How do I uninstall and let Windows identify as new material on a USB connection?

Turn off the broadcast of your wireless router signal. Shut down the PC. Menu using the printer configuration to remove or change the SSID. Then turn the printer off and connect it to a USB port (this implies that all the necessary software has been installed). Now turn on the computer and turn on the printer. Once the printer has been detected the turn on your router.

  • I don't have an icon of Ad hoc network when I try to add the connection

So I will try to set up an ad - hoc network so that I can update my other computer (no internet and I'm not lugging this thing down a flight of stairs). But I don't have any Ad-hoc icon when I go to the "establishment of connection or a network.

Control Panel > network and sharing > set up a connection or network

After the dialog box appears where he is SUPPOSED to have the option of ad-hoc connection but does not work.

I use an Acer Aspire 5920 (it has wireless networking capabilities. My friend put up the ad - hoc on his laptop computer {exactly the same model} perfectly well. Which means mine is just well... _)

How can I solve this problem?

    Hello

The host computer needs two network cards (below). The host computer must be connected to the router via a card (wire or wireless), the second card must be wireless to connect to the wireless client computer.

Instead of the Ad - doc, you try one of those too.
