Trying to fix a corrupted user profile problem files copy to new profile

I'm fixing a corrupt user profile. I followed the instructions, the files were again copy profile and are almost finished.

Progress bar went from green to red and does not seem to continue to copy. The icon in the upper right corner continues to run. Should I continue to wait? For more than 30 minutes.

Hi suzy 59,.

Log off or restart your computer and you login as the new user and check if all files have been copied.

  • Unable to fix a corrupted user profile

Please read my resolution posted on October 14, 2011. My problem was never a corrupt user profile. It's an anti-virus program blocks my access.

I tried to follow the instructions for the attachment of a corrupt user profile, according to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

I created a third user account (UA3); Connected to UA2 and tried to copy and paste the files from the user to the file from the old account (UA1) on behalf of third parties (UA3).

First of all, I'm confused by the instructions which told me to copy all the files except the ntuser.dat, ntuser.dat.log and ntuser.ini files. Did that mean all files that begin with these names or all files with exactly these names? There are other files that start with these names, but are not only these names. For example: ntuser.dat.LOG1, ntuser.dat.LOG2, ntuser.dat {3f2f6031-3445-11e0-a837-8ga..., etc.

I tried to copy all files except those that begin with ntuser.dat etc, but I must have done something wrong because it did not work. I received a message that says I need administrator privileges and asked if I wanted to continue. I responded to continue, but the files do not glue.

If I am able to copy files successfully, once the UA1 profile copied to UA3, when I connect UA3, he look the same as UA1 or do I have to reset the context, etc. ? It is unclear in the article what I am really copy and what remains to be done to make them the same (with the exception of corruption, of course).

All this has emerged a problem that I had to try to add email accounts to Outlook 2010. After working on the problem for several days, the error has been identified as resulting from a corrupt user profile. If you need general information, please visit http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/access-denied-when-adding-a-email-account/7bb6576e-53ab-4c94-830c-0e58be115dcf?page=1&tm=1318178723530

I've seen this kind of problem of corruption has reported several times in answers.microsoft.com, but nothing I found to date has addressed what is causing the problem in the first place.

SOLVED. I found the problem. This is a parameter in the anti-virus program. Somehow, he has been to block access to the registers for Office 2010. I removed the control registry setting and I am now able to add/modify email accounts. There is no corruption of the user account. I'm sorry it took so long to find it. However, I learned a lot during the process.

There are a number of things that need to be addressed in your instructions to "fix a corrupted user profile. It would be useful to others in the future.

    1. they must state that, after the creation of the new user account, you must connect that account, otherwise the files are not created.
    2. instead of say "copy all files except the file ntuser.dat, ntuser.dat.log and ntuser.ini.", it should say "copy all files except those that begin by...» (these names) ».
    3. something should be mentioned on the shortcut files, with the arrow upward from their icon. They copy not at all in Windows 7.

I have never able to repair a user profile with the instructions of the way they are written. (I think someone needs to try them with a Windows 7 system and deal with the permissions that are defined in Windows 7).

In your answer on what programs could cause something like that, you might want to talk about the access to the registry that is blocked by a virus protection program.

  • Fix a corrupted user profile - Outlook Import and addresses of mail folders.

OS: Windows Vista editions Home Premium x 64.  When I try to log on I get the error msg "the user profile service has no logon.  User profile cannot be loaded. "In addition, if I try to go forward and asked a password I am informed that the password has failed.  I tried a system restore, but did not correct the user profile.  Finally, I used the procedures in the posted in Forum Vista to create a new user profile and copy files (music, pictures, Favorites, excel & Word docs, etc) in the new user profile.  Also, I used the Outlook Wizard to connect to my e-mail address with the server of my Internet service provider.

Question: How do I copy/import my Outlook 2007 e-mail folders and addresses from my old to my new user profile user profile?

    1. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/fix-corrupted-user-profile#1TC=windows-7

Your user profile is a collection of settings that make the computer look and work the way you want. It contains your settings for wallpapers, screensavers, wallpapers, pointer preferences, settings of the sound and other features. User profiles ensure that your personal preferences are used whenever you log on to Windows. If you tried to log on to Windows and received an error message telling you that your user profile is damaged, you can try to fix it. You will need to create a new profile and then copy the files from the existing to the new profile.

I would add that corrupt profiles are almost always accompanied, if not caused, the corruption of system files.  As such, you must perform an operation of check disk (chkdsk) with the option to repair no matter how or if recover you.  If you really feel lucky, a chkdsk operation sometimes will fix a corrupted user profile.

Corruption like this can be caused by malware, it can also be caused by the fault of hardware.
First, make sure your system is * really * clean - you say as your ran one program malware a few days ago and he finds something, but you don't say what and what program you used.

    Everyone knows what...

All dynamic cursors Colorista 2 trail have stopped working in AE CS5 (they appear locked).  I was getting as dynamiclinkmanager.exe crashes at the start of application (hanging Mediacore).  Digital settings are the only way to correct color.  (Even if it's slow, it always works in CS5 PP)

I recently updated the Quadro FX 3800 drivers and also install a Blackmagic intensity Pro card.  Apart from that, there is no other updates.  However,.

I rolled back the FX 3800 drivers and uninstalled the drivers of the BM and re-installed Colorista 2.  Still no luck.  I also fiddled before Windows 7 selective startup.  Diddlysquat.

I created a new user profile and, therefore, all works as it should (even using the drivers updated FX3800 and WB card).

I can only assume that the original user profile is damaged.  Can someone please tell me how I start to diagnose what aspect is perhaps corrupt, and how I could continue on the restoration of its features.

    Hello Mr. ML.

You're welcome and thank you for your kind words. The problem, Recuva is a file recovery application. They allow you to recover a file (or folder or partition) that has been deleted or damaged otherwise. Another freeware program, you can use - it's the only one on my system - is 7 - Data Recovery Suite, available here: http://download.cnet.com/7-Data-Recovery-Free/3000-2094_4-75905667.html.

Just to be clear, this is equivalent to a backup in case your backup (if all goes well now) fails for some reason any. Part of the concern here is that the corrupted files are potentially carriers of the virus or anything would be able to re - corrupting your system.

Frankly, if it were my system, I'd be less likely to try to repair files corrupt and much more likely to replace everything. And Yes, I have separated from my system disk backups and my data disc, baked upward on the other two disks. Readers are cheap. So if you have backups and / or can make a reinstallation is complete, it would be my first choice recommendation.

If you can't do that for some reason, some tips for the use of data recovery software.

    • Stop any activity involving the disk or disks that you want to recover files from. The reason is simple, the computer "works" - reads and writes information in the hard drive, more lucky that some of the files to recover will finish itself be replaced. The more often that happens the higher the risk that you will not get a "good recovery" - too much information will be unrecoverable.
    • Do not install it on the same drive you want to recover files from. Its OK to install the program on your D:\ or you get the portable version on a flash drive.
    • Given that the source of the problem is a virus / malware, i. by 'wash' everything you get with your antivirus program as soon as they are recovered.

Good luck to you and keep me updated.

  • Try to copy the corrupted user profile profile settings and I am met with the error message "too long file name!

I tried to connect to my laptop today and instead of recording in the usual way a message that windows creates new office settings. When he finally connects me I get a message of bubble speech saying I was connected to a temporary profile, I reboot several times and the problem persists. After a little google research, I realize my old profile is probably corrupted... I have not downloaded a new software/hardware.

I followed the steps of miscrosoft to copy the files from my old profile to a new user, everything in the file transfer went well until the last few files to copy. Then, I get this error message saying "the file names would be too long for the destination folder", only two options are cancel and skip available. Which are useful.

I do not recognize these folders that are too long (the names are the random letters and numbers), I tried to look for them, nothing is done. And to be honest, I don't understand what that means.

UPDATE: I decided to copy folder a bit at a time and it solved my problem, that all the files were copied successfully. However, now I was struck with a new problem. Whenever I try to access my files, I get a message that says windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not be authorized appropriate. How can I fix it?

It comes to my laptop and I administer it / have access to passwords, etc.

It simply means that your old account was the owner of that file or folder.  You can change the security to access your new account.  Here are the instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-PK/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-access-denied-when-opening-files-or-folders

(It says Vista, but the steps are the same for 7).
