Trying to grab the clip in iMovie

When I'm just trying to highlight a clip to use, the entire video is selected.

I think I'm suddenly having the same issue.  My version of iMovie is 10.1.2.   El Capitan 10.11.4.

To avoid any doubt are you trying to select a portion of a clip by making a click-and - drag on the desired section?  It is the method that I recently used to select portions I want to mark as a favorite.  Something has changed, and now, this translates into the entire selected clip.  You can drag the bars selection to beg and end of the global clip to select the desired portion.  However, it's painful if your source video is very long.

  • I have can´t select part of the clips in iMovie...

    Hi guys

I m now using iMovie to edit a new project.

There is a low, I used iMovie without problems.

Today to import my video iPhone and try to select in the project, which is part of the clip, but automatically select the entire clip... In other works, simply place the mouse on the clip and drag to complete... Why not now?

It's a feature, not a bug, that you can't drag a portion of a clip to the timeline. Hold down the R button to select a part of an element to be used in the film.  Otherwise, you will always add the full clip.

  • Top half of the clips in .wmv in my project are cut. Wasn't like that before. What continues?

    Hello

I'm working on a promotional video for a company for a few weeks, but I had to put it on the back burner for a while to help them with their poster for a trade show graphics. I have now returned to video, only to discover that the top half of all the 480 p .wmv clip I used are cut. I use an old video that they have taken a few years on a camera to standard definition and stretching 225% to fit in my composition of 1080 p, as well as some they turned with the new camera avchd video. I only have this problem with the .wmv files. .Avchd files play fine. Things I checked:

The video is not positioned in the composition of wierdly.

The video is not covered by a black rectangle, that I don't see. I dragged some avchd on the track files and they appear fine.

I tried to drag the clip to the file Explorer in the project, but it is still important with the missing half top.

I tried made my video and half superior is always missing.

It's really confusing because the video has been change and make very well. Spend two weeks and now I have this stupid problem.

    Any ideas? Thank you.

  • When you add items to a project can then remove the clips?  I'm trying to free up space on my hard drive. Thank you.

When you add items to a project can then remove the clips?  I'm trying to free up space on my hard drive. Thank you.

Not while you're still editing the project.  When you have completed the project and shared it and are sure that you do not want to do any editing more far, you can delete the whole project.

If you do a significant amount of iMovie editing you really need to put your libray (ies) on a large external hard drive.  Another thing you can do is to divide your work between different libraries and move those that are not currently on a removable drive.

  • iMovie 10.1.2 adjust the size of the clip in the timeline

When I move a clip in the timeline, the size is reduced to a point where I can't move titles correctly.  I tried the setting of the slider, but it does not affect the components of the package.

    Hi, David,.

You use the scroll bar that you get when you click the gear in the top middle of your screen.  This bar only works on clips in the clips pane, not in the time line.

The slider beside the button settings in the middle right side of your screen expands the time line so that the clips in it are spread out more.

Also, if you click on the settings button, a dialog box appears that contains a scroll bar to adjust the size of the clip in the timeline.

    Hope this helps,

    -Rich

  • Alternative to Holding button down 'R' to the range selection Clip in iMovie 10.1.2?

Has anyone found another way to select a range of a clip in iMovie 10.1.2 other than now the key 'R '?  The method used in previous versions of iMovie has been quick and intuitive.  You just skim up to a point located on the clip, clicked and dragged to make the selection.  Browse, click and drag.  It couldn't be easier.  Now, when you click a clip, select the clip.  The only way to get only a piece is to change your train of thought, find the "R" key, press and hold and hope you can return to the creative process.  How is it better for the user?  It is a step backwards in usability.  Am I missing something?  Why iMovie software engineers would make such a decision of confusion?  Is it possible to return to the simpler method by a preference?  I can't imagine a user thinks, 'Wow, this process hold the 'R' key is really a nice update.  It's actually easier to use iMovie. »

    Browse, click and drag.

It always works for me this way in iMovie 10.1.2.  Maybe this works only on my trackpad with touch of strength? I can't test it with a mouse now.

I only use the "R" key after selecting the range to copy.

  • iMovie dissolve or transition that does not change the length of the clip or move clips

    Hello

So, I worked on an iMovie project today.  I brought many different video clips. Each clip has its own attached audio narrative.  Right now I have almost finished project - I just right things (audio aligned with video) - but when I try to add a transition between two audio clips faces - get too close, and on the other.

In my opinion, audio clips are locked to the video clips - I used the microphone for voice icon on and I can see a vertical green bar at the beginning of an audio clip, reaching up for the video clip that is intended for the audio.

My first thoughts were this: can I freeze the frame - use the frozen frame to add a second or two on the length of the clip - to take the necessary time for the transition and (hopefully) prevent the audio to come too close.  No luck.  Adding a still image not (as far as I could tell) increase the length of the video clip as a cushion to allow passage to complete before the next audio clip starts playing.

I am tempted to add a still image between the two clips - this will add a buffer between each clip without disturbing the relative position of the audio for the video clip, it is attached.  Is it possible to export an image, and then insert the exported image between the two clips?

    Any ideas?

    David

Or, there may be a convenient way to move all the clips on the right to a right moment.   Who would do the trick-, but the only way I know how to do that is to insert a picture.  I guess I could make a black picture and insert it between the clips.

    Hello

I suggest you follow the link to import files into Windows Movie Maker below:

  • Trying to access the video clip

I have a clip on Scene1 called "movieclip1." Inside the "movieclip1", there is a 'fadein' label, which under the label has the fadeing of movie clip in. Then I have a label called 'fadeout', that has the clip fading out.

What I want to do is get the coding or script of action to do so that when I click on "portfolios_btn" (on scene1) it works what's under my label "fadein" inside the clip 'movieclip1 '.

Then, when I roll-off clip I want to go and play whats under the label 'fadeout '.

This 'movieclip1' is a drop down menu that disappears when I click on the portfolios_btn and fades out when I roll off the coast the movieclip.

You must add event listeners for CLICK and ROLL_OUT event for the portfolios_btn.  In the case of Manager, simply say movieclip1.gotoAndPlay ("...");  where «...» "is the label of the associated image.  If you are not familiar with the addition of a button event listeners, then look for the addEventListener() method in the help documents (or take a peek through a few comments here... it is likely to occur).

This is a new and improved feature in iMovie. You must hold down the 'R' key while clicking on the part of the item you want.  By default, the full clip will be added to the time line.

Unable to choose the range of iMovie 10.1.2

    Hi, Jeff.

You can select a range inside a clip with your clip in the timeline, placing your cursor on it and hold the 'r' key when you drag your cursor over the clip while pressing your mouse or track pad.  The range will be described in a yellow box.

To select a range of multiple clips, select the first clip, and then select the last element while holding down the SHIFT key.

I bought the iphone 6 to find her icloud is locked. I tried to contact the owner, but I can't reach him. are there opportunities to take the step of activation? Thank you.

    Hello

You describe Activation Lock, which prevents the unauthorized use of the iPhone if it is lost or stolen.

This can be disabled either by:

    • The former owner, grabbing their Apple ID and password of the device.
    • The previous owner, removing the iPhone in their list of devices to locate my iPhone via iCloud.com.

In both cases, be sure to follow the instructions in the first article below.

If you can not organize or either of these actions, then you will not be able to use the iPhone. There is no way around this security feature.

  • How can I add a transition without eating in the length of the clip.

I have a newer iMac with iMovie 10.1.2 and OS 10.11.6.  I would like to add transitions, but they eat in the length of each side of the transition of 2.0 seconds.  Is it possible to add transitions without eating in the length of the clip.  In old iMac with the internal CD, before Apple "upgraded" iMovie, you could add transitions without affecting the duration of the clip.  When a large part of my project, composed of clips 6-8 seconds of time, waive the duration of the clip to make a presentation more chic does not seem an option.

For a transition to build to use incoming and outgoing clip media. We call these handles. It has always been like that. Most people leave a few seconds out of their clips when adding to the timeline. With clips you just save a second at each end, and you can create a second 1 transition or the precision Editor to set the duration of the transition. A point to note is that this does not apply to photos that they automatically of the handles. Your transition that uses 2 seconds of your clips is a second transition 2. If you use the full clip in the timeline and add a transition, iMovie will warn you that it would take the clips to make the transition.

I have a video clip taken with a Go Pro.  The camera was upside down when the clip was taken.  I imported it in Photos, and now he is always upside down.  Is it possible to return the clip?

Not with pictures - you can I think iMovie or QuickTime - export video back in the ouside software and then re-import
