I can only imagine you can run Windows 8.1?

Windows 8 / 8.1 cannot natively read DVD-video.

You could install Media Center...

Add Windows 8.1 Pro Pack or Windows 8.1
Media Center Pack for your version of Windows 8.1

Or...

For DVD playback... the free VLC Media Player
may be worth trying...

Restore point before installing software or updates)

VLC Media Player (32-bit Version)

(the name of the file to download is: vlc - 2.1.2 - win32.exe)

My HP Presario f 700 laptop does not recognize my CD/DVD drive and will not burn or play CDs or DVD movies.

I have a lightscribe, CD/DVD player, and I started having problems about a month ago... I tried to burn a lightsribe CD and my computer told me that I didn't have a CD Lightscribe drive (I!)... then when I just tried to burn the music on the CD, he didn't do it either... Finally a week ago, I tried to play a movie on my laptop, and that does not work either.

When I insert in the film or the cd, the drive lights up and I can hear the work, but it is as if she has no connection with my laptop and my laptop is not picking up the CD/DVD drive try to play a movie or a cd.

A friend suggested that I go to the HP website and am trying to download a driver, but I didn't know what to do once I got to this website, and I don't know if it will work.

If you know how to solve this problem, or if you have had a similar problem with your computer, please help, thank you.

  • Satellite C655 - DVD movies will not play

I've had my laptop for 7 months and for the last 2 weeks, I tried to play the dvd netlix but they won't play. I put on an audio cd, and it works. I can't understand what the problem is nor the solution. I tried to update the driver but it says that it is up-to-date. Don't know what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

Also, I ran the diagnostic tool for toshiba and he ignores the DVD player. Does this mean something?

Have you noticed these problems with DVD Netlix e only or using any original DVD movie?

What player you use to watch DVDs?

  • TV recorded serious DVD movie out of sync when played. Syncs OK on PC.

Windows 7, Media center, all current updates.

Has had several tries to find the right combination of options to burn a movie recorded on DVD TV (Power options high performance/sleep off, DVD NTSC, video then play DVD menu options, 16:9), but finally managed to burn a DVD that will play.

    BUT

Its not synchronized with video on DVD.  IS synchronized when played on pc, so nothing wrong with the tuner (Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 950 (Q).  New HP Pavilion Slimline. No 3rd party software installed, burning, although I plan to MediaCoder for some audio projects.

High level of frustration. Open to suggestion.

    Thank you!

    Barbara,

In my own experience, this happens usually when the pace or the video frame rate or fps are smaller on your output video or vice versa (when video images are "fallen" or "added" audio goes out of sync).  I solved this situation by setting the pace on the target, be identical to the source. Check out the cadence on your source (film tv rec) and use that rate for your DVD. I don't know how you can do it because I don't have experiences with DVDs. I did it with flv, mov, mp4 movies only.
