TS-H653N SCSI Cd Rom Drive has stopped

This seems to be a common problem in the Internet with those of us who have this drive.

Here's my problem:

I'm on a HP Pavilion S3320N (2007), running Vista Home Premium, service all packed, patched and up to date, with zero problems since installation.

Last week, the CD/DVD drive has stopped working.  Device Manager showed that little uh - oh exclamation in yellow, and the properties said: "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)."  I tried to update driver, but Windows reports that the current driver is the last.

Facing a deadline, I'm heading down to the computer store, buy the last external USB CD/DVD (a Samsung) drive and plug it into USB.  Exactly the same problem.  Device Manager lists the two disks and displays the error even for both.

Anyone else seen this?  Someone at - it suggestions?  I tried many searches, some driver downlaods, MS Fixit... Heck, HP doesn't even have a replacement driver for this (or I can't find).

Your help is appreciated.

Thank you

Bill

Well.  A long and winding road indeed.

I ran Vista Fix (different than the one that I ran before, btw) and he finds the same problem that we discussed, but it was only a couple of solutions - which was due to start a Chat session with Ms.  I thought well, I put at least $ 50 in this already, they have a shot and maybe it will save me a trip the local PC guru (which will charge me at least as much and keep my PC for a week).

Anyway, long story short, the MS rep had me uninstall the CD/DVD drive and then do a scan for hardware changes - no reset.  The scan picked up the pilot, reinstalled and everything works just fine.  Magic.  And a value of the load.

So, there go.  Add your vast storehouse of useful info and advice for the guy next door, DP - K - and thanks again for your patience and for getting me in the right direction.

Have an another Kudo!

Best for you,

Bill

    Hello
This is not an answer to your question but can solve the problem if it is the same that I had.
In my case, the drive tries to spin but it slips. Only the motor shaft rotates and the drive remains at low revolutions that were not even stationary.
The problem was caused by the fact that the plastic part (black color) of the mechanism which engages the disc (CD or DVD) slips on the
motor drive, axle and th couldn't do a full rotation or runs at the specified speed.
The solution is to delete the article in plastic and put a small amount of super glue on the axle and then put it back.

Where there is a similar issue, I hope that solve you it like I did.

    Rare Hi

This message is certainly created by the installed graphic card driver.
I can't say for sure why this happens, but I recommend you to reinstall the graphics driver.
In most cases, this should fix problems with gambling.

    Hello

I'm new to this forum took me half an hour to figure out how to do this post.
If anyone knows a solution please help

    Hello

If I understand your ad very short: you got a message that the display driver has stopped or has crashed and recovered again.
    Right?

Maybe a new display driver installation would help sort this problem. ?
I recommend you to uninstall the previous driver.
Clean the system using CCLeaner (or other 3rd party tool)
Restart the unit, download, and finally install the latest version of the display driver for your model of laptop. Restart the unit.

    Hello!
I have a portable Satellite A500-1EE causing me trouble lately. Several times a day, the screen goes black and after a few seconds, it retrieves, with the message:
"Display driver has stopped and recovered. Display NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 257.21 driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Please give me advice on how to solve the problem.

    Thank you

From time to time it happens on my P500 too but especially if I look at a Web page with flash player but after driver recover everything is OK again.
To be honest, I don't see it as a major problem.

Is there a particular situation when it occurs on your A500?

  • Re: Qosmio X 500 - video driver has stopped responding

    Hi people,

Recently (2 weeks ago) I started having some slight problems with my X 500, to be more precise Windows sometimes reports that the driver has stopped responding, but managed to restarted. When this happens the screen goes black, flashes several times and turns back on. But the strange thing is that this happens when the laptop has been used for MS Word/Excel/IE and high intensity graphic has been past nothing since he has been powered.

My first thought was to update the drivers, since Toshiba downloaded the new nVidia ones a few weeks ago, but the problem persists. So I was wondering if anyone else had similar problems and what would be the best way to solve it? Would it be possible that something is wrong even with the gpu itself?

    Hi Snowy161_1,

I had the same problem a few weeks ago and the solution is pretty easy: update the display driver. I removed the current version and restarted the laptop. Then I used CCleaner to remove the keys in the Windows registry and restarted again. Finally and most importantly, I downloaded and installed the new display from here:

  • Satellite A40: drive has stopped reading the CD & DVD discs

Does anyone know why my CD/DVD combo drive has stopped reading discs (CD and DVD). The light blinks for a while then stays on but nohting happen after that. No prompt to ask to see WMP or real player etc. Nothing at all.

    Hi André,.

Normally, this occurs if the optical drive cannot read the titles of the index on the CD. It does this so that the built-in firmware allows to identify the disc type and recalibrate the lens as a result.

It might, however, be something simple as having the 'autoplay' feature to take no measure for that when a disc is inserted in the optical drive will be re - calibrate the lens and then not start any software to actually read the disc.

Try to insert a disc and then open 'My computer' and check if the optical drive is displayed. If this is the case, then try the "Explorer" (right-click on the icon). If you receive an error indicating that the disk is not accessible or the disc cannot be read, then it is likley that you have a faulty drive.

    Hello

If the reinstallation of the system with the recovery CD does not help, then it is not a software problem.
This means that some hardware component is defective.
In this case, you need to take your laptop to the service.

    Hello

Have you checked in the Device Manager if the CD/DVD player display correctly?
    Please check this!

As a follow-up, I would recommend removing the reader of CD/DVD of the crèche of the device a restarting the laptop.
The Windows operating system should recognize the new device (ODD) and should load the drivers again.

Then access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    Hi Jeroen,

I think that your problem is related to overheating rather than a defective display driver. The idea here is that it takes several attempts to reboot, giving the unit time to cool.
I suggest that you try to remove all dust and debris from your radiator and see if it improves the stability of your units.

You can download a copy of your display driver of: -.

  • Office Pavilion Elite HPE message: AMD/ATI Video Driver has stopped working properly

I have a Windows 7 Desktop HPE-410y, this morning, that the flag of the action center was at the bottom of the screen.  I clicked on it and there was a message: AMD/ATI Video Driver has stopped working properly.  He also said I should click on a link for a solution to this problem, but of course when I made the site of HP said that the page does not exist.

Maybe say if you have in fact noticed nothing else Action Center indicator would be useful.  If it seems to you that the computer was OK and run satisfactorly, then perhaps he had already solved the problem.  Usually reviews can occur if a program did unexpected things and crashed the video driver, then the driver recovered.

HP site can be set to an old page.  The real driver has not been updated recently on the HP site.
