TSSTcorp TS - H6538 ATA Device / blank DVD + RW media-player rejects disc - what am I am I missing here?

I am a complete newbie so much in this regard. I finally learn / remember that Virgin Media must be formatted first. It is done once in the "default" format - did not work. Restarted A to 2.5 any thing-or-other-do not work either.

(BTW I use the Roxio Creator Basic, which is preinstalled software and new Maxell DVD + RW discs if it matters.)

My needs are quite simple-make a music CD copy, maybe do a DVD copy, backup important files, etc. Nothing of what would be considered as heavy or "power - user" or whatever it is. Sheesh.

And if I can unload for a minute, it seems strange to me that something as simple as what blank media works with your drive or must be more frank/accessible. Then I wouldn't have to worry about the friendly people with a question that "Well, DUH!" wrote you everywhere. Sorry, but I am perplexed - and I've been to all the obvious web site already. My eyes are starting to cross, and my head hurts.

Thanks in advance!

I have a HP laptop and have a problem with the DVD device. It doesn't read the DVD - RW. It shows me that the DVD is empty. I tried with DVD which worked without any week issue two or three, but now they are unable to read. I tried to use a Microsoft Fix it on the site, but it could not solve the problem.

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.

  • HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA - T40N ATA Device works like a CD player. It is supposed to be a DVD player?

    Hello

First of all, I would like to thank you in advance for your help.

I had the problem of my HL - DT - ST DVDRAM GSA - T40N ATA Device not reading anything into the drive and removed the filters. It is still not working properly, and it's the rare occasions when he did (after hitting enough lol) and I needed it to work again. I disabled the device and rebooted before her reactivation. Although it works now it has unfortunately fizzled. It is now only installed as a CD player and it used to be a DVD player. Before it stopped working TI played DVD 100% fine as well so it should be good.

You must obtain a disc that is intended for your geographic region.  We live in the Washington area. I didn't know that DC was considered an unusual geographic region?

    Hey nongeekbetty,

The DVD is encoded for a different region. Most DVD readers only works with DVDs that are coded for the computer was purchased in the same region. So if you buy a DVD in one country and then try to play on one computer from another country this DVD could not play.

    Step 1:

Make sure that the DVD region is set to the appropriate region:

    a. Click Start.

    (b) in the search box, type Device Manager.

    c. right-click on the DVD drive.

    d. right-click on it and select Properties.

    e. make sure that the region will be resolved.
