Turn off the monitor and input block

Hello

I am trying to create simple VI that will turn off the monitor (or screen saver turns on) and entrance to block mouse and keyboard - user so won't be able to see the screen and do any action. I use system32.dll for this.

My problem is that when my VI turn off the monitor, user can enable it back by simply moving the mouse or using the keyboard, similarly as these devices are blocked (by the function BlockInput of System32.dll).

How can I do the ultimate freeze?

Attached VI is based on Danny_Funk 'disable the monitor.vi.

Dear bieneck,

This is a very interesting problem you have there. I was snooping around Microsoft technical support for a bit, and the only reasonably simple method, I found was running powercfg.exe from an elevated line comand. You can query wake programmable devices with powercfg - devicequery wake_programmable poster theand disable using "Your device name" powercfg - devicedisablewake. Here you can find a more detailed documentation.

Except that I have found no reliable method that will spare you excessive digging in the registry. Maybe some 3 rd party tool?

One more thing: If your goal is to prevent the user from interacting with anything, it would be easier to make up a large modal window that does not workaround? At least, it seems to me that it is much simpler to use a native Windows function that is not provided for this purpose.

Kind regards:

Light (switch) on my screen does not turn off.  So, I shut down my computer and restart several times a day, because when I put it in mode 'sleep', he wakes to the top in a few minutes and will not fall asleep.  I could put a blanket on my screen when not in use, but I'd rather find a way to make it stay asleep when I tell him.

Light (switch) had already done once before and I was so worried that once I turned off the monitor that I would never get it new on... a bit short of money here, to buy a new monitor, but the next day, I pressed the power button with an additional downward pressure and I could so he could start working again (able to turn the market monitor).  It was about 3 weeks ago.  Now, the light stays green, unless I stop the whole computer.

Maybe my main problem is sleep mode, which removes the screen for like 2 minutes and then he wakes up to the top and is so rude when I myself and try to sleep, I just turn off the monitor everytime I put the computer to sleep.

Now, I can't turn off the monitor, except by turning off the computer.

  • Whenever I have turn off my monitor, and then turn it back on, all my desktop icons are completely reorganized.

This issue just started.  Whenever I have turn off my monitor and then turn it back on, all my desktop icons are completely reorganized.  This happens when my system goes into power saving mode, or whenever I have turn off the monitor.  Even if I turn it back on just 5 seconds later, all of my icons are not where they were previously.  Help!

    Suggestions:

    1 a simple way:
. Right click on desktop > view > uncheck Auto arrange > check snap to grid.

    2. in a more elaborate way and actually a better way. I use this method I have over 150 shortcuts etc on my desk. I can't afford to have shortcuts/icons, rearranging themselves. I won't be able to find anything, if they do.
    Here is the tutorial:

Note: The method is not perfect, you can, after a while, have one or 2 icons on the spot. But it's easy to fix.

A screen saver is a program that, including the screen or filling it with moving images or patterns when the computer is not in use.

Screensaver programs were designed to help avoid these effects by automatically changing the images on the screen during periods of user inactivity.

The problem is most likely an attempt to update a system malfunction prior it is probably a problem with your computer, not the El Capitan.

    Start by:

Reset the PRAM and NVRAM on your Mac.

MacIntel: Reset of the controller (SMC) system management

Start in Safe Mode , and then re - start normally. It's slower that a normal start, so be patient.

    If you are unable to start;

Reinstall El Capitan without erasing the drive

Please make sure that you back up.

    1. Restart the computer. Immediately after that the chime hold down the command and R until the Utility Menu appears.
    2. Select disk utility, then click on the continue button.
    3. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) entry of the volume in the list aside.
    4. Click first aid icon in the toolbar. Wait until the button is active, then click it.
    5. Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
    6. Select Reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

Also, see this tip for user: basic steps for the OS X upgrade.

    If this doesn't get you;

Install Yosemite or El Capitan, from scratch

    Backup if possible before proceeding.

Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime hold down the command and R buttons until the Apple logo appears. When the Utility Menu appears:

Select utility disc in the Menu Utility, then click the continue button.

When loading disk utility, select the volume (entered into withdrawal, usually Macintosh HD) from the list of devices.

Click Delete in the main window of disk utility. A panel will fall.

Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).

Click on the apply button, then wait for the done button to activate and click on it.

Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.

Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

Yes switches turn off the wireless, and yes they use negligible power when the computer is turned off.

  • All lights on screen Flash - Message - Please turn off the printer and turn it back on

I'm fighting a problem for a few weeks now with all the lights on the display starts flashing and the message please turn off the printer and turn it back on.   HP sent me a new printer that does the same thing.  The printer is an Officejet Pro 8600.  My computer is Windows 7.  I use a Belkin 750 db wireless router.  I talked to the service the customer several times with no results.  Did a hard reset of the printer, change the SSID of the router, because I think that one of my neighbors has the same router.  The thing most effective I did was change the channel to 6 which will operate for several hours until the display starts to Flash again.  Channels 1 & 11 starts blinking after a few minutes.  I know there are other people who have had the same problem.  I'm about to throw the thing in the trash.  My last printer brand X was set up the same way with no problems.  On the network, there are 2 iPads, smart TV, and an iPhone.  Need help please!

  • What is the order to turn off the constraints and index

Hi, I need to make some out of constraints and indexes on tables to load quite a date in them. I know that I can just drop them and recreate later. But is it feasible to figure who forced and in what order must be do disable or unusable before a load and after the load that is to say. without dropping to preserve? R before P data loading, and then P before R like I think that controls can jump in evertytime and are quite safe to deal with. But I did not carefully think about more, maybe you have some scripts that say exactly what should be the order to turn off the coast and later on this subject.

That's right: disable foreign key constraints before disabling the primary (or Unique) key constraint correspondent.  When you reactivate them, re - enable the constraint of primary (or Unique) key before the corresponding foreign key constraints.

Aside from that, the order should not issue.

  • HP t610 turn off the monitor

    Hi all!

We have a series of WES 610 thin, agent image 5.1.983, 4.5.3660.161180 version.

We leave tour monitor forever in power with an administrator account management options. But when connected with the client user account shut down the monitor after 15 minutes (factory settings). With the user account, it is not possible to set power options and the system not inherit the settings of the administrator account. Any suggesttions to set never turn off the screen to also with the user account?

    TKS, Carmelo

    TKS for the tip!

We have tried all your suggestions, but the second and third didn't work.

Only the first seems to be applicable.

We have copyed the powercfg on the client and then run the command window by using the credentials of the user, in this way, we were able to change the right key in the active power scheme.

  • How can I turn off the monitor (e.g., "standby") via the command line at the push of a button (or any other shortcut need not additional software)?

    Hello

I don't like it when, after a break from work on my PC, the screen turns off as set up through "Power Options" in the control panel. That's why I put the relatively high threshold.
However, when I know that I will not need the computer for a while, I want to save energy and wish the mode "sleep" could be activated immediately. Turn off the screen is not an option, because it has a USB hub built-in - off completely would be to unplug any connected device. Usually, if the computer has always works and might need the resources connected.

Ideally, by pressing a button (or start a program or something), the screen would immediately go in mode 'sleep'.

On systems prior to Vista and 7, IIRC, running a command in the sense of:
    Rundll32.exe user32.dll, SendMessage (HWND_BROADCAST, WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_MONITORPOWER, 2);
would do the trick. The dll should run the command to set the monitor to sleep. We could create a shortcut or even integrate the command in a batch file, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on Vista or 7.

Does anyone have an idea on how to do it on Windows 7?

I would strongly try to avoid having to install any additional software to help me. (There is quite a little all about, even free applications that promise to do exactly that, but I want to avoid them if possible.) "And I can't believe that this basic that could be done on XP cannot act more on 7!).

    Thank you for your help,
    NicApicella

    Hello

Sleep is one thing and switching Off the Display is quite another.

I found a way to turn off the screen in case you don't have a hardware switch or a keyboard shortcut as in my Dell Inspiron laptop (Windows 7).

Create a batch with the following script file:

    echo off

    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-dc 1
    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-ac 1

    START/min/Wait C:\Windows\System32\scrnsave.scr s

    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-dc m1
    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-ac m2

with the idle time to turn off your screen set in the Control Panel, replace m1 and m2.

Control Panel > Power Options > any 'Active' diet Plan > change Plan settings > disable the display setting (minutes).

    For example, in my computer laptop m1 = m2 = 30 and 10.

Now create a shortcut to the batch file and optionally assign a keyboard shortcut and an icon.

    Explanation of the script:

The first two commands sets the idle time Display Off for the minimum possible setting of 1 Minute for the AC and DC (battery) power. The third command put the system mode blank screen saver 'instantly' and / Wait for the screensaver to terminate application. After 1 minute of inactivity, the monitor turns off power completely.
The Saver screen/Wait is over by the event of the reactivation of a movement of the mouse button, the last two lines of code will come back the idle time-out settings of origin defined in the Panel view. This to ensure that after waking up, the display does not Turn off all 1 minute of inactivity expire.
