Turn off the prompt of typekit?

Any way to turn off the prompt of typekit? I am referring to the dialog box that appears when you open a doc in illustrator or indesign. 1 out of every 5 times it freezes. It won't allow me to click on 'Close' or 'find the fonts' and the only way out is to force shut down the whole program. If I forgot to save a document in another tab - I lose my job.

I keep thinking that I could get an update that resolves this problem. I can't be alone in that happening.

Very frustrating. I already use another font management program, do not need typekit. Certainly not need it if the dialog box is going to freeze. I own fonts from other foundries then use typekit isn't an option.

Thank you for all wisdom.

Thank you, Benjamin. But the correct answer is "No you can't disable Typekit even if you want."

Sorry, don't want to be rude and I thank you for your answer, but you are raising a separate question. It is not a matter of having the fonts to disable. The question is: the dialogue of typekit appears is completely insensitive (in Illustrator and Indesign.) I can't close it, or click on one of the buttons when it pops up.

What I would do is have typekit stop appearing altogether. It is a new software and doesn't work well. It is ruining my workflow with my workhorse programs. I would recommend people do not improve on this basis only.

  • Cannot turn off the prompt of password to wake up sleep monitor

    So whenever my screensaver lights up and I'll be back to wake up the monitor I get the password of the user account guest.  I am running Windows XP home on a dual boot Macbook Pro.  I have the owner administrator account and staff use account for the safety of navigation, which is attached to Power User.  Regardless of which account I'm in, if the monitor goes to sleep, wake up, I have to enter a password, which is terribly boring.  I have the option "Ask for password when the computer wakes from sleep mode" unchecked under the Advanced tab of the Power Options Control Panel in the control panel.  I have my power supply mode set to always on while that plugged.  I also have my user defined in fast user switching accounts.

    At this point, I wonder if the standard user account is an exaggeration.  Maybe I should do all my work on behalf of owner so that at home?

    If anyone can help, that would be nice.

    Thank you.

    Great, thank you!  Who did.  Although it took several attempts to analysis of reading this real Panel sees this checkbox.  For some reason any I just kept missing it.  But now all is good.  And I'm less annoyed.

  • How can I turn off the laptop after restoring it to factory settings?

    Hello everyone

    I'm selling my Portege R830-10 q If I want to restore it to the settings to factory (out-of-box state) AND THEN TURN IT OFF.

    I brought the laptop to factory settings successfully using the _TOSHIBA recovery Wizard_ and choosing * factory default software recovery (Recover State out-of-box) *. However, at the end of the process of recovery and after everything is back in place I was not able to TURN off the POWER to the laptop. It only gave me the option to restart. After rephrasing it, the Windows installation process starts.

    I don't want to install Windows, i.e. language, keyboard, user account, etc. I want to leave the Windows installation for the person buying the laptop to me. How can I turn off the laptop after the recovery of the system without having to install Windows?

    I would appreciate your help.

    Concerning

    Pedro

    When the recovery process is complete and you are prompted for a reboot just press start button / stop and turn it off. I think it's only thing you can do.

    Anyway, why not start Windows and go through the configuration option. New owner can modify this basic anyway parameters. As username Admin and language and the keyboard can be set as default.

    For example, if you have a picture of German recovery set to German. New owner can change in any case.

  • Turn off the Infrared Port

    I use a remote to turn my tv-related. When I use it well, it changes the setting on my laptop. His frustration through Netflix and strip off what I'm doing because I'm using the remote control. How can I disable the infrared port on my laptop so I can use my remote without problems?

    Hi Sarahelizabeth,

    Disable infrared

    You must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.

    If your infrared computer ability does not, infrared can be disabled in Windows. If your computer has infrared technology, here's how to turn off the infrared connection:

    1. open the Manager of devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click System and security, and then, under system, clicking Device Manager.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. double-click on infrared devices.

    3. right click on the device, and then click disable.

  • When the Admin sign on the office comes to the top, but after that the computer does not respond when the user tries to do anything. There are actually turns off the computer with the power button.

    Original title: user profile

    My administrator user profile does not work properly, but I have a user profile that has activated the parental control that worked well for about a year and yesterday when this user logs on the desktop comes up, but after that the computer does not respond when that user tries to do anything. There are actually turns off the computer with the power button.  I ran a virus scan and spyware scan in my user admin profile and he has not found anything.  I don't know what to check.

    Hello rhunter15,

    There may be a program to interfere with Parental controls so that we can try a few things to see if we can determine the application or program that is causing problems.

    First of all, we run System File Checker to see if you have a corrupt file system.

    • Click Start
    • Click on all programs
    • Click Accessories, and then right-click on the command prompt.
    • Select the Security tab and choose "Run as Administrator"
    • Click on command prompt
    • Type SFC/scannow.

    It will scan and repair any damaged operating system files.

    To determine if there is a program because of a conflict, we recommend that you perform a "clean boot" of the computer. A clean boot is designed to disable programs and services in the background as much as possible. This helps determine which service or program can be the cause of the problem.  For more information about how to perform a clean boot for troubleshooting, click the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

    KB 929135 - how to solve a problem of performaing a clean boot in Windows Vista.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    Once you have finished the clean boot, check again and see if you get the error of parental control.

    If please post again and let us know if that helped pinpoint the problem or if you still need help.

    Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista at the link above.

    Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:

    1. a System Restore to before the updates:

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next

    If you use Norton, disable it before using the system restore.

    If it is impossible to enter the Normal Mode, do a Safe Mode system restore:

    Press F8 at the startup/power and the list of startup options, use THE ARROW key to select Safe mode > and then press ENTER.

    System restore steps according to the info above.

    Also:

    2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

    > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it
    > Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".
    When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the update causing you problems.
    > or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it
    If you have problems to restart, read on:
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
  • LifeCam Permenently 5001HD turn off the autofocus
    Hi, I recently bought a webcam of 5001HD lifecam which I use an image, follow-up of project. I am aware that you can disable the "autofocus" function by using the application of the lifecam, but when the camera is disconnected or the power is off the autofocus light when the webcam is reconnected. I was wondering is it possible to disable continuous auto focus using regedit or can be uninstalled from a command prompt or a command shell. Any help would be appreciated.
    (f) click the camera control and clear the check BOX update.
    (g) now you can focus the camera manually by moving the bar left and right
