Turn on/off the touch-pad

Model name: HP Pavilion g4-1317

Operating system: Windows 7 64-bit

I want to turn the touchpad on or off. The cursor keeps jumping from one place to another and it is hard to type...

There is a small circular depression, I tried double tapping, as almost everywhere in the leftcorner... It does not work! How can I activate it extinguished/turned on? Also I tried to download the driver for the synaptics touchpad, it fails to download each time...

Help, please...

Hi shwetz, welcome to the Forums of HP. I found 3 versions of the: g4-1317,I suspect that they have the same software available, I will use the "g4-1317AU" as a reference.

I really hate this behavior as well when typing on a notebook. Especially with my big gloves, I can't help but the TouchPad for the life of me. Your TouchPad software should have special settings for "PalmCheck" and "Touch sensitivity", which could help aleviate the jitter that occurs when you type.  On mine I also have Auto-desactiver the TouchPad when I plug in an external USB mouse.

Nevertheless, it should be able to be disabled. The instructions are in the "Disable the TouchPad" section in this document: use and configure the TouchPad (Windows 7 and Vista)

If you can't turn them off, you may restore the original TouchPad drivers using this method: use of the Recovery Manager to restore the software and drivers (Windows 7)

These are the correct drivers, if you want to download them and install them after you restore the original.
Synaptics TouchPad Driver. You will need to uninstall the restored, if she complains to you when you try to install it.

I hope this helps, I assure you that I have fought this battle before in my personal computer. I'm sure we'll get there, made me know how this turns out.

For something like this, it is best if you have an external mouse attached - it's common sense and not because of something flakey on occur.  It's like the race without a disc of recovery and personal backups: you can get away with it for years and then ONE day, Poof - here you are with a blank screen and no way to recover your data.

  • How to make it turn off the touch screen?

I don't want to use the touch screen. How to turn off the it? It is activated by all sorts of things, like my touch cat's tail, or an insect landing on it, or a curtain blowing against it. I don't type using the screen, I prefer the keyboard that I can not type quickly on the screen. I would like to turn off the touch screen when I use it not (most of the time), or even permanently - it is not useful for what I want to do that the screen is not as sensitive or as fast as the input devices that I usually use.

Hi, I have a HP TouchSmart 320-1030, so it can work on your touch screen:

    1. Press Windows + X logo.
    2. Select Device Manager from the list.
    3. Click on the small arrow next to Interface devices to expand the list.
    4. Click the touchscreen driver (in my case, Voltron NextWindow touch screen).
    5. Right click and select disable from the list.
    6. Click Yes in the dialog box that asks you if you are sure you want to disable the touch screen driver.

When you want your touchscreen to work again, follow the above procedure, EXCEPT when right-clicking on the touch screen driver, select enable.

  • Parameters for the turning off the mouse pad

I have a Pavilion laptop dv7 (P/N VZ500PA #ABG) running Windows 7 and I want to use a mouse with it. I'm not entirely sure what the thing is in front of the keyboard is called (the one used when you do not have a mouse), but I want to know how to change the settings on my computer so that when I turn off the mouse pad thing, it REMAINS off the next time I turn on my computer. I know that it is possible to change the settings to do this, because it allows to do this before you change a lot of settings. It's really annoying that I have to press the button whenever I connect to Windows (if I did, then I find myself accidentally pressing the button as I type and accidentally he then clicks on things).

If anyone can help me I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

I contacted HP support by phone, and even if my laptop is out of warranty, they helped me!

  • I have a Toshiba satellite L455D laptop and the touch pad does not work

If I plug my usb wireless mouse that works, but when I unplug it the touch pad does not work

Have you checked to see if your laptop model has a physical button around the mouse pad that allows & turns off?  If it does not, many cell phones often have a software switch that can toggle the on & off power mouse pad.  It is usually triggered by a combination of function keys (key Fn + one of the F1 to F12 keys).

Take a close look at the row of the top of your keyboard and see if you can find a key that has a small symbol that looks like a mouse pad.  If you find one, try pressing it in combination with your Fn key to see if your mouse pad features returns.

Your touchpad driver is maybe defective. Go to the Toshiba website from the link below and enter your laptop model number and the operating system that you will find on a label on the back and download it and install it the Touch Pad Driver and see if that fixes the problem.

  • How to change the default setting for the touch-pad?

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 running Windows 7 Home Premium.

I use it 99% of the time on your desktop, using a mouse instead of the key.

Sometimes I forget to turn off the key by using the small dot in the upper left corner, which causes the movement of the cursor unexpectedly.

Question: Is there a way to reset the value by default for the touch-pad to be inactive, and use the small point to activate the key only if I use the computer in a remote location?

Thanks for any help on this.

    Larry

    Hi Larry,

See if you have the following option.

Open windows control panel, open the mouse, click the device settings tab and then click on the button "settings".  Click on the + next to the Touchpad disable Zone, and then click top left Action.  Click on the radio button for TouchPad Switch Off, click on apply and then click Ok.  Click apply and then click OK in the remaining window.

This should enable the TouchPad on/off function to remember, so if you turn it off, it will be turned off after a reboot.

    Kind regards

  • HP 15 ab019na: clicking on the touch pad does not work

My laptop newly purchased has just been upgraded to Windows 10. My problem is with the touch-pad. Clicking on most of the things with it (left or right) turn simply on the element, but it does not open the item. For example, the cross that appears in the top right, to a screen, to cancel this screen does not when you click on it. I have to touch it with my finger so he could work (the laptop's touch). A lot of hypertext links do not open when you click on it, but their contact works. The Start button at the bottom left does not open when you click on it, but it's when they are affected.

Clicking is sometimes more convenient than touch, so I would if the issue is resolved.

  • Pro L10: After using a wireless mouse, the touch pad has stopped working

Pro L10. After using a wireless mouse, the built in touch pad has stopped working properly. At the start of the keypad icon touch shows and the touchpad works intermittently, after a few minuets, the icon disappears and the touch pad stops working. In the control panel / mouse & or device drive I can how the program works, then disappears.

I deleted the software and reinstalled nothing doesn't. In some cases, I get a message that a pointer is on.

    Can you help me?

    Hello

It seems that the wireless mouse or mouse wireless drivers/software has a bad influence on the touchpad.
I put t have a good solution for this problem. Well, you can consult the page of the Toshiba driver for latest driver updates. If the updates doesn't solve this problem I suggest to use either the mouse wireless and disable the touchpad with FN + F9 key combination or use a regular USB mouse.
I guess that you are having regular problems with a USB mouse.

On windows, I press alt + ctrl + del and when the Task Manager window I can tap it and after I do I can tap - Select something else and so on.
Click on the Task Manager click on anything else until I reboot and the problem goes away just to appear suddenly unexpectadly at the same time.

I have the newest bios and driver accupoint

    Any tips?

This happens only with touchpad, or when you use an external USB mouse?
For me it looks more like the Windows operating system freezes for a short period. Is this good?

    Hello

One reason might be a missing touchpad driver.
But if the touchpad driver has been installed, you should check the settings of the touchpad.

In Control Panel-> mouse, you will find the touchpad properties. It should be the last tab.
There you can check activate them and deactivate and configure many options.

    See you soon
