Turns off my laptop itself!

My laptop caught a virus several months ago. I installed Security Essentials and now works well (slower than before), but keep turn off with frequency, a problem that is not occurring before the virus.  After only several minutes by can use again.  Someone suggested to place the laptop in a surface hard (to avoid overheating), but it does not work.  He died anyway... Help, please.

If he died without a stop or blue screen, chances are a hardware problem - incidental to the virus.

Personally, if I was ever to get a virus - which would be a moment "format and clean install - probably a zero-write hard disk, format and install own.»

  • How can I turn off the laptop after restoring it to factory settings?

    Hello everyone

I'm selling my Portege R830-10 q If I want to restore it to the settings to factory (out-of-box state) AND THEN TURN IT OFF.

I brought the laptop to factory settings successfully using the _TOSHIBA recovery Wizard_ and choosing * factory default software recovery (Recover State out-of-box) *. However, at the end of the process of recovery and after everything is back in place I was not able to TURN off the POWER to the laptop. It only gave me the option to restart. After rephrasing it, the Windows installation process starts.

I don't want to install Windows, i.e. language, keyboard, user account, etc. I want to leave the Windows installation for the person buying the laptop to me. How can I turn off the laptop after the recovery of the system without having to install Windows?

    I would appreciate your help.

    Concerning

    Pedro

When the recovery process is complete and you are prompted for a reboot just press start button / stop and turn it off. I think it's only thing you can do.

Anyway, why not start Windows and go through the configuration option. New owner can modify this basic anyway parameters. As username Admin and language and the keyboard can be set as default.

For example, if you have a picture of German recovery set to German. New owner can change in any case.

  • Whenever I have turn off my laptop and turn it back on, all my data disappears.

I'm using a thinkpad notebook issued by school (lenovo R400) that uses Windows Vista.  I know almost nothing about computers, but a couple of my friends know a little, and none of them were able to help me.  Every time (it happened three times) I turned off my laptop in the last three months or so, I turn it back on and everything disappeared.  I downloaded programs, backgrounds, music, documents, photos, videos - all of this.  Now, I checked the recycling bin, so I know that it has not been deleted.  Also, if I check what has changed recently, I can recover some of them.  I usually just let my laptop to sleep, so I turn rarely completely off.  The first time it happened, there were just two Documents folders, two folders of music, etc.  The next time it happened, they disappeared, but they have either finally came on their own after a few days, or me just messing them back.  As I am currently in College, it is very important that I can access everything I could have written this year.  It is a big problem for me, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are constantly thrown into a temporary user account. This can be caused by hardware or malware infection problems. The most sensible thing to do is to take the machine to your school IT Department. and let them take a look. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

    Hello

My laptop is flaky for some time but now it will not off without using the physical switch. I tried to reinstall Vista, but as you know, during installation Vista must be turn off and on several times to install.

The first time Vista try to turn off, it crashes until I have to cut the physical switch so can never go beyond this stage.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Hello!

You must give us a bit more information:
    -laptop model
-Microsoft disk or Toshiba recovery DVD

In your case, I would try the recovery disk.

Maybe you can try another CD/DVD, for example Linux boot disk if you have the same problem.

  • Super screen sensitive like I can't turn off the laptop and hear a clicking noise when the lid is closed

I am running Windows 7 on a computer Tablet laptop of Dell Latitude (it has a touch screen that is not removable, but it turns). My problem is that I can not shut down this computer and carry it from one place to the other without losing all my battery power: you can hear 'ping' when the lid is lowered. If I have to carry that I have to turn off completely, otherwise it will just keep producing this ping and use my battery. Everyone knows this?

This ping me makes me believe that a key is pressed, perhaps due to a letter from the keyboard that is stuck or is bad, or possibly a defect of the product.

  • Computer laptop HP DV6-3019wm and HDMI to LCD TV output. Turn off the laptop computer screen?

Hi all, when I connect my HP DV6-3019wm laptop to my LCD TV Via HDMI and watch a movie, or stream Netflix, etc.

How to turn off the screen of the laptop, or close the lid on the laptop? Without arresting him. Is it possible to do it on the laptop, easy enough for watching movies on the TV, without spoiling all the other parameters? Parts perfect TV, but the picture is still on the laptop too, at the same time.

Also, when windows 7 on the laptop has all these popups down in the lower right corner, windows updates, screensavers of updates, HP Advisor, Hp etc. This will affect the movie as it is being read? or do I have to cut this kind of things? It would be a pain if I had to turn off all, in order to avoid the film interrupted by a reminder that there are available windows updates.

Thanks for any advice, help, etc.on this.

    Ok thank you. Fixed

  • Tried to import pictures. Will not stop or go away and I can't turn off my laptop

I was importing pictures from a SD card to my Macbook pro and tried to do them all at once. There were about 700 pictures. Once, I moved their this tab below that presented themselves. After about 5 minutes of nothing don't be going on I tried again and now there are 2. I waited about an hour and nothing changed so I pressed X to stop the copy, and now it won't go away. He won't let me leave and because it will not stop I can't turn off my computer. What should I do to get rid of this.

The easy way to recover is to hold down the power button until it turns off the MacBook Pro. Press the power button to restart the MacBook Pro.

  • Turns off my screen itself as well as the program I think (I don't know what the music also stops for example), I then turn on the PC and turn it on again

I recently had the graphic card replaced as was a blurry screen and also added more memory, since then the screen turns off when he wants to, it does not matter if I am using excel or Internet

    Hello Sandie01,

Thank you for your message.  You need to maybe go to the website of your graphics card manufacturer and download the latest driver for your computer.  In many cases, the driver that is used from the CD you received with your card is not the most recent available.
Please let us know if this or help to solve this problem.

  • Processor/fan continues to run even after turning off the laptop

    I'm using Inspiron 15 3542

I've updated my OS to Windows 10, but sometimes will not stop the fan from the processor/even after discontinuation of the laptop (as well as the display goes off)! The fan continues and continues. And after this laptop won't turn on even! I have to open the battery, and then it lights up!

I downloaded almost all the software required for my laptop dell for Windows 10 x 64 software download through bit.

  • Sony KDF-55E2000 turn off and on itself

I have a Sony KDF-55E2000 who goes out, then back, without any input from me. The power light on the front of the TV flashes green while he's back back, like it normally does when the TV is turned on. No other lights are flashing. Is the power light blinking is not indicative of a problem typical, as indicated in the manual.

I already contacted Sony support, but was unable to get any useful information (answer: repair). I did a power reset and restored to factory default settings, but that didn't help. What other issues may be the cause of this behavior? I'm comfortable open TV on mine and replacement of parts, as long as I have a small idea of what I should look for.

I replaced the lamp once since the purchase of the TV. I replaced the lamp in January 2010. Until I replaced the lamp, at the front of the TV lights blinked in the expected color and style specified in the manual. Of course, this was not the case this time. I didn't open the door to the lamp for replacement of the lamp 5 years ago. Other problems potential I can guess are dust build-up causing overheating, one several fans at default, the sensor of the lamp or lamp door sensor is going bad, the pilot/ballast lamp goes wrong, or the lamp itself is bad. The problem is the behavior I see with the power light does not seem to correspond with these problems. Does anyone think any of these potential problems could be past based on the behavior I'm reports? Is there something else that could be and I could look?

Thank you very much for the help.

    Matt

Quick update: I bought a new lamp, installed, and everything looks great again. If that didn't work, I wasn't going to get it fixed. It just was not worth it financially. It would have been better to put the money in a new TV. But, we'll see how long I can keep this going with lamps. Thanks for the suggestions of George.
