Two networks different encryption WEP/WPA is possible?

Hello, I have the wrh54g wireless in my desktop pc using WPA encryption and I have a laptop that can't accept WEP. How can I add another network in the preferred networks with WEP encryption for my laptop? Please notify. Thank you. Menk

You can not. The WRH54G only supports one radio, one SSID and unique wireless security settings. You set the WEP network and run the risk that someone cracks your wireless networks or you leave in WPA and supported upgrade laptop computer with a wireless card/adapter that supports WPA (unless of course, there is a wire level or similar available for the card in the laptop).

    Someone knows why?

The WLan card support WPA encryption before upgrading to Windows XP pro?
I think that he didn t supports this encryption.
To my knowledge the encryption supported depends on the card WLan and not WLan (pilot) software. If the WLan card doesn't support WPA so you will not be able to use this encryption.

The current Intel driver is wn29n50.sys, the version of the file site 9001-9, but on the Toshiba, it gives both two drivers Intel W2000 Wireless LAN dated January 19, 2005, a version of 1.6.0.47W2 and the other 8.0.12.9000W2 - does anyone know if one of them will modernize my current wireless capacity WPA driver and, if not, whether this is possible in any other way?

    Thank you. Al

    Hello

Well, the availability of encryption depends on the material and not on the software.
Another driver WLan will not allow WPA encryption.
If you do not have WPA encryption in WLan card properties in this case this function is not supported.
If you want to use this encryption if you need to use the new hardware for example a USB WLan key.

  • Connect two networks with different subnets

I have a network that is totally excluded from the rest of the network. It consists of a switch Allied Telesis AT - 8624T layer / 2M 3, a computer and a few PLC devices.

It is the only switch Allied Telesis, the rest of our network is Cisco. Allied was by a seller.

Our network uses a 10.10.1.X network, but this standalone network uses a 192.168.201.x. I need to connect the two networks, because a system on the network 10.10.1.x need to access the computer on the network 192.168.201.x. I wonder if I can do it with a 2960 s Cisco or if I should get a router between the two switches.

I am pretty new to the implementation of this type of equipment, was suddenly thrown into the mix, I appreciate any help that can be offered. Thank you.

    Hello!

You can do this with your switch 2960, they take over the static routing. Please see the following link for detailed configuration instructions:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/switches/LAN/catalyst2960/software/...

You will not be able to perform routing inter - vlan but pointing your static routes to the other managed switch interface you will be able to achieve. BE aware that the other switch must have some sort of routing capabilities too or you will need to get a router.

I hope this can help, greetings!

I tried for months now to get my laptop to connect to a network secured with WPA - PSK wireless. I couldn't make it work at home, but I blamed the router. There is no problem connecting without warranty from WEP.

At work there is now a new wireless network. Once again, no connection possible. I tried now 4 different access points, but it does not connect with the WPA. Still, first step of the link seems possible (he sees the router and asks for the password, then the router responds), but the laptop does nog acquire a network address and will try until its cancellation. I updated all the drivers, deleted all and installed the wireless drivers. All tried, but now I give up. It will not connect. I think it might be a problem with the generation of WLAN (Intel 2200bg) modem, but how can I be sure?

The laptop is still under warranty, so I could have it checked by Toshiba, but I work independent and need my computer every day. Please help me. Thank you!

    Hello

Just a quick comment: I use the M70 Satellite with the same card WLAN. Last week I installed the latest driver WLAN of the Toshiba download page. I also installed Intel PROSet, but I use Windows WLAN configuration.

If you want to disable Intel PROSet and just use Windows WLAN configuration press F10 and confirm with YES. You can use WPA encryption, but be sure that you set WPA - PSK (no server) option and choose between two Techniques of encryption (TKIP or AES). On my router default is TKIP. The same settings that you can find in the WLAN Properties on the wireless networks tab.

If you want to use zero (recovery CD), you can reinstall Windows XP Home edition only.

  • running two SSID, WPA2 and WEP

    Hello

    I have a WRT610N.

How isolated are two SSIDS that I can run?

I know that one runs at 5 GHz and other 2.4 GHz.  I gave each a SSID and a different security policy: I run 'sensitive' under WPA2 stuff, and I run the other supported legacy hardware that supports only WEP (for example, my son Nintento DS).

But these two keys to the same House, so to speak?  If somebody cracks my WEP network, can access the machines on the WPA network?  Or they are completely isolated?

    Does make sense?

    Thanks for any clarification.

    -Mike

Yes, they are "two keys to the same House.   Home' is your LAN.   If someone crack your WEP and intones wireless to your router, then they have access to your local network.   It would be like allowing an attacker connect your computer directly to your router.   Being on your LAN, puts the hacker in a very good position to penetrate into any other computer on your network.    Your WPA2 encryption gives you no protection from someone who is already on your local network.

The solution to your problem is to run two separate wireless routers:

    Modem - ROUTER1 ROUTER2-

ROUTER1 is set to 'Local address IP' 192.168.1.1, encryption WEP, "AP Isolation" value to "activated", (note: no printer on ROUTER1)

ROUTER2 is set at "IP address local' 192.168.2.1, WPA2 encryption, use a password (and not something similar to the WEP password).

modem is connected to the Internet of ROUTER1 port

Of the ROUTER1 LAN port is connected to the Internet of the ROUTER2 port

Channels 2.4 GHz Wireless on both routers must be different and are preferably at least 5 channels apart.  Usually channels 1, 6 or 11 are working perfectly.

With the above two router configuration, the Internet of ROUTER2 port should protect you from intruders on ROUTER1.

  • Two networks

    Hello

I have two computers connected to a router via LAN who access the Internet through it. Both are active DHCP.

Now these lots of computers in the movies I want to watch through Asus O! Play Media Player. For this sake I had implemented another local network through another router and wireless LAN adapters in the computer. At present, this is disabled because it is confusing the system to be used for access. How to set up the second network. Should I put static IP addresses that are in the range the second router can detect which media player is connected? Or a best possible solution so that my computers should not plant? They are old enough!

Thanks in advance. Any help is appreciated.

    Hello

You need two network cards in the main computer, one connected to the Internet router, and the other connected to aregular port on the second router.

The second card, second router and the Asus are configured on a different subnet. Second routerDHCP Off andOpen left WAN port.

Computer main folders with movies etc. has set apart, so that they are accessible with the Asus.

    For example.

Computers Internet router 192.168.0.1 on this router 192.168.0.x

Second card of a main computer 192.168.20.1 network

IP of the second router that is connceted to this basic 192.168.20.2 map

IP of the Asus 192.168.20.3 gizmo

  • Have two networks. One is 'working '. The other is the "homegroup". 'work' to the internet. "residential"local group. IE cannot access the internet. Help

    So here's my problem:

It is a routing problem.  In short, it comes down to how to get IE (or any application) to use a specific WiFi adapter with Internet and ignore the adapter WiFi that goes to a network is private with no internet.

This is the situation and what I tried.   No joy.

    PC hardware:

    primePC = Win7-Pro with two WiFi.   WiFi-Internet and WiFi-Local-premium

tabletPC = Win10-Home with a (currently) WiFi-Local-Tablet (not internet from now).

Use the Description of PC hardware

primePC is my laptop that I use for work and all the rest.  It goes where I go.

Tablet PC is in my mobile office and stay in the van (office) when I'm on-site customer.  I use it for

things like control my monitors in the van (office).

    Network:

WiFi-Internet (primePC) is connected Internet router to the Internet.

WiFi-Local (primePC) is connected via the Local router

WiFi-Tablet (Tablet PC) is connected via the Local router

    Objective:

WiFi-Local allows you to share files and use VNC for remote desktop.  (Win10-Home support not native RDP).

Use wireless Internet to connect primePC Apps IE for example to the internet via WiFi-Internet connected to the Internet router.

    A photo is included.

    THE PROBLEM:

Because primePC has WiFi-Internet and WiFi-Local, applications such as IE are getting confused.

How can I say (other applications) to use wireless Internet for internet connection?

    What I tried:

Have you tried ForceBindIP on Win7, but is no longer works.  I'm sure that at some point, it has worked.

Even if I could make it work, I don't really like it.   There *.   I don't want to link to an IP address.  I want to

link to a Mac address is the Mac of the WiFi-Internet address.

    Other Options:

Soft router (ugly) There must be something that can do this.  But I have not found one.  I guess it's a kind of soft router.

    Firewall, routing (still ugly)

I have a firewall (on average by the way).   Creating a routing table in AVG is not good for the following reason.

The entire Setup is mobile.    WiFi Internet is constantly connected to different internet routers, so learning new IP address that I have no control over.

    Future:

Currently, the problem is on the primePC.   But in the end, I have also a problem similar with tabletPC, since the tabletPC is going to have a 3G connection / 4G to the internet.  This connection will go up and down based on (A) if I have internet with WiFi-Internet-router or not.   Using a hub of 3G / 4G for private network will not be good option because (A) the security because it allows access to my tablet, another security van mobile devices (B) cost of using a mobile router WiFi "hot spot" vs just to have two phone lines, both have unlimited data service of attachment (not unlimited hotspot service).

    Hello

According to the description, I understand that you have a routing problem, you try to get IE to use a specific WIFI adapter with the internet, while ignoring the other WIFI adapter that goes to a private network.

It is not possible to connect two computer to the same WIFI cards. You must unmark a WIFI to use the other WIFI adapter.

  • Two network adapters physical separate networks

Is it possible to implement two physical on a host running VMware Workstation Desktop cards, in a way where your host operating system uses one of them and one invited the other?  I need the host and guest on separate physical networks?  Example - my host OS is on our production network, but I want my guests to be on our test network.  Two physical production and test networks are completely separate and no physical connection between them.  Basically, my host Office would be multi-homed.

    Thank you

Guest VM traffic is done only to the vnet to which you connect.  Therefore, if you configure NIC1 to be on by default in bridge network (vnet0) and NIC2 be bridged to vnet2 (for example), and then configure your guests with a vNIC connected to vnet2.  The prompt only "sees" everything that is connected to NIC2, because it is NOT connected to vnet0/NIC1.

If you do not need host to go on the network at alltest traffic, you can disable the TCP protocol on the network to test NIC so no traffic host never goes that NIC just let VMWare bypass protocol enabled in order for the traffic of the virtual machine on this NIC

However, if your host must have access to both networks, then imagine that virtual machines are running on another host on the network.  With your current physical machine with two network cards, ask you the same question: How can you guarantee that the traffic of the computer is done on the production network?  If you do not set a gateway for TCP/IP host on the NIC test network, so that traffic destined for this subnet test will go to this network adapter.  This means that two networks have different subnets, of course.  If the two networks are the same digital subnet (for example: both are 192.168.1.x) then you will have problems even in the absence of the virtual machines.

The reason you do not set (and normally are not allowed to have two gateways) is if the traffic is destined for a subnet that your computer is not directly connected to, then your machine comes into contact with the bridge.  If you have two (or more) gateways, which is your machine contact?  Beyond simple dishes networks as in this example, you will probably need the assistance of an expert network.

  • I can't change the settings of the wireless LAN encryption WEP

    Hi all

I have a WRC-1000, I have not used for a year and a half. Now, I reconnected it the device and during Setup, I can't change network wireless security (WEP) settings. No matter what I do, it keeps stuck on 128 bit WEP.

Also, it does not show the WEP key settings (if the screen where I have to configure the WEP key).

That's what I've done so far: Full reset, reload the configuration by default, set to update to the latest firmware. Still no change. I suspect a hardware failure. Is this a defect of memory (flash)?

    Can someone help me?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

You mean on the router settings or the WLan setting on the laptop?

Have you tried using a client such as Intel ProSet utility or Atheros WLan Wlan connectivity tool?

According to your WLan card I recommend you check out these two tools and try to establish the WiFi connection using one of these programs!

I am trying to connect my laptop (Win XP) wireless with my Internet Server, but will not accept the network key (WEP/WPA) I've placed on the record. Grateful for any help on how to reload another key.

    Thank you

Your wireless router controls the security of the network.  What kind of security provided by your wireless router?  The most common these days security is WPA2.  Windows XP did not support WPA2 until Service Pack 3.  The fact that it requires a WEP/WPA key would imply that it does not support WPA2.  You do not indicate what version / service pack of Windows you have, so my advice is to upgrade your computer to XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), and then try again.  Navigate the site Support/downloads from the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if a newer driver wireless is available for your computer.

Otherwise, find the manual of your router wireless and network security check/change to something that supports your laptop.

  • correct settings for two networks?

I have a desk that has a building at each end of the city.  I have a wireless bridge that connects the buildings.  Each building is on its own ip configuration and has its own internet connection.  I have a server for A construction program.  I want to be in the B building clients connect to this server, but still use internet and print to printers on their own network.

Right now the wireless bridge has the same addresses as a. construction I also fooled with assignment of two for each clients network adapter ip addresses.  This works fine, except that I see only computers B building in the Working Group, and I don't know if its using internet of B building or A building.

    Building A uses 192.168.5.x - 255.255.255.0 - 192.168.5.1

    Building B uses 192.168.10.x - 255.255.255.0 - 192.168.10.1

Any help is appreciated, and I can give you more information if necessary.

    Hello

I don't know what hardware you are using specifically. Regular Bridging could not do you need a device for routing between two independent

Networks that are on a different subnet.

If the two networks are bridge successfully to act as a coherent networks (same subnet), choose which Internet connection would be used by each computer can be made by assigning static IP addresses and gateway entrance to TCP/IP on the computer the IP number of the router as the Internet should be used,

Passing by the details beyond the scope of the forum of support to end users. If the above do not help, you should get a consultant on-site.

  • Two NETWORK adapters on the host

I have a windows xp host and he has two NICs. One is used to connect to the internet, and the other is used to connect to a private network of Novell.

What is the best way to configure my VM Windowx98SE so that it can use both of these connections?

If I have a single configuration network adapter on my VM and use NAT, I can connect to the internet, but not of Novell.

If I have a single configuration network adapter on my VM and use Bridged, I can connect to my Novell network, but not internet.

If I place two network cards on the VM and the whole NAT and the other to connected by a bridge, I can connect to Novell, but not internet.

    Any ideas?

    Josh

Well, it turns out that the adapter "set" parameter is Global not by NIC so you must briing the real Publisher virtual network and create a second bridged VMnet, say VMnet2 and then jumpered VMnet0 and VMnet 2 to different network card.  Then caraa change the second NETWORK card in the .vmc configuration file to account for the bridged custom VMnet2.

    ethernet1.connectionType = "custom"
    ethernet1.vnet =  "vmnet2"

To display the real virtual network editor in VMware Player 5 in an administrator command prompt, change the directory for VMware Player and use the following command.

    rundll32.exe vmnetui.dll VMNetUI_ShowStandalone

  • Binds a guest operating system to one of the two network adapters on the host computer?

Sorry if the topic is confusing.  I have a host operating system to Server 2008 running on a server that has two network jacks.  Allows to call an (192.168.10.24) and B (192.168.10.25).

My guest operating system is set to bridged with the IP 192.168.10.26 mode

I want to say VMWare to always use A NIC when it comes with this guest operating system.  Is this possible?

In my (Control Panel Windows) network connections, I see my two NICs A and B as well as VMWare Network Adapter WMnet1 and VMnet8.

    Thank you!

Run the utility for configuring the network (vmnetcfg.exe) as an administrator on the host computer, disable the automatic bypass, set vmnet0 to one of your physical network cards and a virtual NETWORK adapter not used, such as VMnet2, and then assign the other physical NIC. Then to your comments, change its settings and select vmnet0 or vmnet2.
