Two questions. We wish to remove the Vista and download XP Pro and would not let me explore the "Document and Settings" in the C"" drive.

Mr President

Buy a laptop the year last Dell with VISTA. It won't let me partition (including shrinkage etc.). No matter where you go that it denied access, including loading the program. Search function I'm trying to understand for a year yet, I can't find.

I want to explore the "Document and Settings", but access is denied.

Finally, I gave up on VISTA now that I bought a XP Pro... Tried to format the drive it did not show me the hard drive.

Direct booting from cd said that it found no hard drive to load. I am just desperate and sick of this VISTA. Please help to get rid of this OS.

I'll be eternally grateful to you if you can help me. The newest...

Come on first, site of the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if your model computer has XP drivers available for it...

If the XP drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.

If Yes, download and save to a CD or Flash drive.

Save all your data because it will be lost during the installation of XP.

Then follow the steps below to do a clean install.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Once installed, reload ALL your other programs of original media, or download again.

Reload all drivers and utilities for your motherboard.

OK, I had the same problem on my hard drive missing hal.dll. My question is what windows xp writes the cmos on my computer? The reason why I ask, is that I physically removed the hard drive from the computer and then start the computer I get the same message hal.dll lack. Since the hard drive is not installed, the only place where this message comes's cmos or bios of the computer.
I know it seems odd, but I couldn't believe it when I saw it after removing the hard drive. It used to be with older computers and Windows 95 or 98 when you took a hard drive that wasn't working and installed with one that works from a different computer, you could swap out and boot the computer and make a few changes to some drivers if you.

So what is windows xp write to the memory cmos on my computer?

I think that you're wrong. I would like to say two things happening:

    1. you have more than one hard drive and the problematic drive was not removed, or

    2. you deleted something other than a hard drive.

Do you have a CD in your CD drive by chance?

What is the brand and model of your PC? Are you able to get into the BIOS?

    Hello

    > I took to a local repair place, he said, it would cost more to fix this, so I should really find it useful laptop only think about recover my data.
I agree with the authorized service provider. My personal opinion is that it s a malfunction of the motherboard and it is a very expensive part. Besides, Equium A60 is pretty old model so it would be better buy you a new laptop and recover your data.

    > How difficult is it to make the hard drive out, & how would then access down my data?
It of not difficult, but I m really wondering why you need access to these data. You don t have a backup? In my opinion the backup is the most important thing you need to do on a computer.
Anyway, normally on the underside of your laptop there is a HARD drive cover which is guaranteed by one or two screws. You must remove this cover and then you can see the HARD drive and you're able to remove it.
Also buy an external HARD drive enclosure where you can install the HARD drive. Then you can connect it to another computer to back up your data. ;)

  • Need help to remove the hard drive from a Satellite Pro M10

Hi, a good will would point me in the right direction. I am trying to remove the HD from a satellite pro M10.
I discovered the net without success.

A diagram with being usefully etc.

    kind regards J

    Hello

I can't give you a diagram or something, but I can give an indication to take a look on the front left side of your machine. On this corner of the left side under the volume control is a small blanket where the HARD drive is in. You need only to unscrew the 2 screws that are accessible when you turn on your machine and and look at the bottom of your machine. Do you know what I mean?

When you remove these 2 screws, you need to remove the HARD drive by taking some screwdriver flat-blade and paste between the disc cover and HARD case. Then carefully remove the cover of the HARD drive and you can recover the HARD drive with the cover and exchange it.

Voila, your hard drive West. It s is not difficult at all.

But if you still have some questions then request.

    Hi Tim,.

The hard drive on your SA30 is in the optical drive, but slide the optical drive out of its housing (undo the F5 marked screws on the bottom of the laptop).

The hard drive will be visible fixed with four Phillips head screws that need to be removed (two on each side of the hard drive. With the removed screws, gently slide the hard drive toward the front of the laptop to disconnect its connector and carefully pull it out of its Bay.

  • Remove the hard drive and optical drive on HP pavilion 500-164

    Hello

I was eager to build a new computer and was hoping to use the hard drive and the optical drive from the Hp Pavilion 500-164 to reduce their costs. I'm confused as to how to remove the optical drive, because I removed the two screws on the left and don't know how to get to the other side as it wouldn't come out. When you remove the hard drive, the SATA cable wouldn't come off, so I stopped here and would like some advice on how to remove the hard drive from its Bay.

I currently store my pictures on and an external hard drive.  Lightroom 6 was not able to find the picture momentarily files.  I inserted an external Flash DRIVE after removing the hard drive and the computer renamed the stick with the same drive letter that has been designated by Lightroom to store my photos.  I could go into my Windows 10 and reset the player to the letter that Lightroom has given at the beginning of the external hard drive.   However, I know this can happen again, if I connect any stick USD or another device, while the external hard drive is not connected to my laptop.   I found the information that I can do the new designation of the final drive by choosing a letter it is 1/2 way or higher in the alphabet.   I would like to turn an external hard drive on a strong letter, warns we hope this previous problem.   My question is, if I already have a lot of pictures on this external hardrive with the designation of the current drive, how it becomes a higher letter and have 6 Lightroom recognizes files, now under the new designation of drive letter without having to go to each photo individually and manually force Lightroom 6 find each photo.  It would take more time than I'd like to lose.  Is there a way to get just 6 Lightroom to recognize the new disk designation has changed and is able to find all of the existing files?

I have read the ADOBE LightRoom 6 manual and seem not to be able to find anything on how to do it.

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thank you!

So in Windows, you can select a drive like q letter (or any other letter you want only towards the end of the alphabet)

Then in Lightroom, you can reconnect to the photos on q: the following instructions (see specifically 4 Figure and related text)

  • Cannot physically remove the hard drive from the Pavilion dv4-1430us

The disk hard origianal in this Pavilion dv4-1430us makes mechanical noises, so I will try to replace it with a new one.  I checked the owner's manual supplied with the dv4-1430us, and it gives these instructions (here condensed): 1) remove the power cord and disconnect the battery, 2) remove the hd plastic cover, 3) remove three screws of hard drive now the hd casing in place and 4) pull hard hd tab to the left then go out.

The problems are: A) there is no hard drive to draw labels, and B) after you remove the three screws, can't do the hd if I push on it to move to the right or remove it from the left.  I don't want to use tools like screwdriver large flat blade or bars of little Crow because it seems like that would probably break something.  Does anyone know how to remove the hard drive of this particular model without breaking something?

    HaggisCat,

Thanks for a very detailed and quick response.  It turns out the indications that I read in the manual, your statements and mine were all in line to exert a force on the hard drive in the direction indicated by the red arrow on your image.  (A picture is worth a thousand words and your supplied photo clarity that my summary of instructional text has not.)  I decided to take a picture of the entire hard drive in my dv4-1430us (see below) to show that there is no close tab Mylar pull, as there is on the photo you condition.   (The same gray metal tab that appears in your photo, but no mylar tab).

Apparently my dv4-1430us had some differences at its Assembly of HD compared to yours.  As you can see, the structural elements that surround the HD are very similar to those of your photo, but there is no narrow mylar like in your photo tag.  There is a dark mylar or similar film plastic on top of my HD, and there is a triangle of silver color at the bottom right of this film that points in the same direction as your red arrow.  I tried lifting up the end of this film, mylar and pulling that direction (to the right in this picture), but a part of it (in the upper right corner of this photo) began to tear.  As the film seems to only be glued on the top edge of the caddy HD (also called frame or cage in some articles), I doubted that the show was strong enough to eliminate the stress of a closed winching.  A comrade who has put a video on YouTube showing this procedure also indicated that he had torn this layer of film when he first attempted to remove the HD.  Because I assume that the dark film has a purpose (static protection?)  I gave up shooting at the right edge of the film.

However the consistency of the instructions in the manual, the instructions on this YouTube video and instructions in your answer on the direction in which the Assembly needed to move HD gave me the courage to put a force pushing the HD in the direction of your red arrow.  To do this, I placed the tip of a flat blade screwdriver large (blade about 5/16 "wide) at the points indicated at the ends of the two yellow arrows in my picture.  In these positions, the blade of screwdriver pushed against the HD box and not the hard drive itself.  Each of these two places, I gave him some very closed but controlled scrimmages, and HD finally moved in the direction of your red arrow as it is supposed to.  I then lifted all of the HD and replaced the HD without incident.

The action drag the new HD in place was much easier that it was removing the original HD for the first time.  It was perhaps because of some hard rubber padding that has been placed on each side of the original HD assembly that makes for a very tight fit.

I hope that this description is useful for others who do not have used mylar tab in their computers laptops dv4 and those whose HD assemblies are very tight in.  Thanks again for your quick response that gave me enough comfort to move forward.

  • If I remove the hard drive from my Mac book will find my Mac still works

One of my buddies and ME are supporting it because im trying to say that if you remove the hard drive of a Macbook, find my Mac no longer works, even if you get a new hard drive and connect it to the Internet. He said, that it only stops working if it is not connected to the internet, and I know it's true, but I want to know if my theory is correct,

If you remove the HD there is nothing to identify your Mac then FindMyMac.

To use FindMyMac the Mac must be connected to the internet and FindMyMac must be enabled in system preferences > iCloud. This requires Mac be signed in iCloud.

  • Satellite Pro P300 - remove the HARD drive to make a backup?

My P300 went to my local store to repair for a network card problem. I thought it was just a software problem or driver, so I wasn't worried that my machine is still under warranty. After investigation, they stated that they could not resolve the issue, so would be to reformat and reinstall the OS, they thought they should solve the problem.

To my horror, I found that they had broken the seals of guarantee and open to the top of the machine. They claimed the only way to save the P300 before reformat it, is to remove the HARD drive!
    Is this true?
(It turns out that a broken chip is to blame, but because they violated the warranty, Toshiba will not touch!)

Can anyone say about this the removal of HD to support it please?

    Hey,.

Normally it of not necessary to restore the factory settings with to remove the HARD drive but don t you worry about this. The laptop can still be opened from a service provider authorized without losing the warranty.

I also put t know why they did, perhaps they have checked the material. It would be possible because they have professional diagnostic tools.

But interesting to know whether or not your problem is now resolved?

  • Satellite P10 804: how to remove the HARD drive?

I would like to remove the internal hard disk of 60 GB of my satellite P10 804 and replace it with a bigger drive, but cannot find a way to enter in the case of removing the HARD drive.

Does anyone have the details on how to do?

    Hello

To my knowledge, the HARD drive must be placed under the optical dirve.
To remove the HARD drive, first remove the battery and the optical drive, and then follow the steps below:

    1. remove the four black screws that anchor the shield of aluminum covering the HARD drive and pull it out.
    2. gently pull on the HARD drive the front panel of the computer to disconnect the system board, then pull it out.
    3. remove the four silver screws that attach the HARD drive to the HARD disk case.

But be careful. If you have no experience ask someone with more experience in these replacements.
