Two virtual machines

I'm Mac 10.6.4 with Parallels desktop.

I have a Windows 7 machine without apparent difficulty.

I then discovered that I also need Windows XP and purchased a version upgrade. When I try an installation it will not recognize Windows 7 and I'm stuck. It is a legitimate product upgrade with the code of play. Is there anyway I can get this installed or am I out of luck. Is there a contact at Microsoft Support for something like that?

If I am out of luck, how would I get a full version of XP.

Unfortunately, you cannot use an upgraded version of Windows XP with an existing installation of Windows 7.  Assuming you have Windows 7 Home Premium installed, buy and install a Windows Anytime Upgrade to professional or Ultimate edition, then download and install the free Windows XP Mode. • Two virtual machines running on a same PC network

    Hi all:

I'm running both SUSE Linux Virtual Machines (VM) with VMPlayer on a PC with Windows server 2008. The two virtual machines are configured to the bridge at the same host physical ethernet port (bridge mode). Started the first virtual machine can access the network without problem, but the second VM started not. The order from VM has been changed in order to check if it was a configuration problem on one of the virtual machine, but according to the virtual machine that is launched in the first place seems if appropriate switch VMnet0 and block access to the second VM. Defined for each virtual computer LANs are different: 10.2.1.0/24 for a VM and 10.4.1.0/24 for the other.

Any help will be really appreciated

Case resolved, I realize that he had a message waiting in the toolbar of VMware by saying * adapter Ethernet0 do not have network connectivity. MAC 00 address: 0C: 29:58:61:19 adapter Ethernet0 is located between reserved address or is being used by another virtual card on your system. *. I just checked on google and found an identical case on the VMware communities with the solution: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/269465?start=0&tstart=0. To make the story short my VMs have been duplicated and used the same MAC address. So just stop a virtual machine and generate a new MAC for him in settings-> settings-> Advance-> ECS

  • Two virtual machines on the same vSwitch

If two virtual machines are on the same virtual switch, will they still send packets on the physical wire when talking to each other?

It was my understanding that they would not send all packages and contain just the vSwitch traffic but I would just check that.  If they are not, is it possible to configure it so that they do.

    Thank you.

Given that the vSwitches are not connected to each other, you need physical uplinks.

  • Two virtual machines share the same physical network adapter

I have a virtual network adapter that I linked to a physical network adapter on my box where two virtual machines are running.

I assigned two virtual machines to this vmnet adapter.

On one I can ping other machines of physics on the same subnet as the physical computer, but the other VM can ping only other virtual machines.

When I try to ping from one physical computer to this virtual machine I get the error message windows "ping transmission has failed. General failure. ».

Is what I'm trying to are not not possible?

First thing to do is to ensure the automatic bypass is enabled disabled in the VMnet virtual network editor your use to the bridge to.

Second need to see the output of ipconfig/all on the Windows host and guests and or ifconfig on the Linux host and or guests.

DO NOT copy and paste the output directly in the body of the response rather redirect the output of the commands in a text file and then archive (compress) files in a single zip archive and attach it to an answer.

You can use the following example:

    Under Windows:

    ipconfig/all > "% USERPROFILE%\Desktop\host_ipconfig.txt".

    ipconfig/all > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\guest (n) _ipconfig.txt".

    Linux:

    ifconfig > ~/Desktop/host_ipconfig.txt

    ifconfig > ~/Desktop/guest (n) _ipconfig.txt

Also include in the archive .zip .vmx and vmware*.log for two Virtual Machines configuration files.

  • How to make a submission even as RDM for two Virtual Machines

    Hi I have a question.

We have a server ESX4.0 with two Virtual Machines running on it. I presented a 100 GB of SAN storage to this particular ESX host, this storage space must be shared between two virtual machines as RDM.

But when I add this storage on a computer virtual as RDM, it does not allow me to present the same storage another VM, of RDM is displayed under the name hidden. Is it possible to do so.

    Kind regards

    Khurram Shahzad

This is only possible with the MSCS clustering functionality.  With the same logic unit or disc number to multiple hosts without clusting will damage the volume of data / as the new system will try to initialize the disk.

Your RDM may also need to be in virtual compatibility mode to do this.

The guide of vmware on clustering with MSCS and there should be information about it.

  • You can force two virtual machines to run on different hosts?

I'm looking to see if we can score two virtual machines to never run on the same host as the other. I thought I had seen this ability in later documentation but can't find it now.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hello.

If you use the DRS, then you can use a rule of DRS 'separate virtual machines.  Go to the Cluster settings, change, then see the VMware DRS-> section to implement rules.

    Good luck!

  • Two virtual machines to communicate with each other - intent an SMS Lab for test deployment?

    Hi friends ,.

I am a new user and would like your help pretty desperately. The scenario is that I want to implement a SMS Lab to deploy the application from the server to a client and test the application. I have all the necessary knowledge to the packaging of application is concerned, and would like to help as much as VMWare is concerned.

I created two virtual machines and one of them will be configured as a server and the other will be the client. I created a team with these two machines in it. I am trying to ping from one machine to the other and its does not work. I only use the method of configuration host. The idea is simply to make the two systems communicate so that I can finish the entire configuration and use the same SMS deployment lab.

-First of all, I'm new to all this so I would like to know whther to everything I do is correct and what is the largest possible?

-What I have to do something else to make sure that those two communicate about someother or any other configuration software is necessary?

I would like to ask you guys to be a little more specific are you when you help others that I need you guys ore than a person who is used to working on VMWare.

And just so you know if it helps, I use VMWare Workstation 6.0.

What you are doing is reasonable.  Both of your virtual machines have an IP address on the same subnet?  In general, the scenarios no-ping, the first thing to check is the firewall in the guest computers.  Have you checked that allows ping traffic?  If it is disabled?

  • can we run two virtual machines simultaneously on ESXi

    Hi all

    I created two virtual machines

    1 & gt; Windows2003

    2 & gt; Red Hat Linux 5

but I'm not able to run two machines at the same time, when I try to turn on the second machine as the other machines it works throw me error saying "resource memory Admission Control failure".

Second thing can we export machines, we have created?

    Thank you

You'll probably have to remove the virtual machine to add at least 600 MB - have you seen the instructions on post - http://communities.vmware.com/message/1026853#1026853.

  • Network configuration for two virtual machines on a host

I have two XP running on a Vista 64 host using 6.5 guests.  I would like to power instant message between the two guests.  I use the option open, and each guest can comminicate outward, very well.  However, if I send an instant message from one guest to another, the message can't.  All parameters in the virtual network editor are the default values on the two hosts.  Thank you.

so IM between two virtual machines should work as well.

There must be a factor that we haven't talked yet - any ideas?

  • Two virtual machines running at the same time

Fussion 1.0, I remember being able to use two virtual machines at the same time, and each me each own IP without worrying if I used the bridged network configuration or address NAT. With the Version 2.0.1 (128865), only one will get an IP address and the other, the two XP SP3, visit account disabled NETWORK card. Any recommendations?

Yes, it's tru, but I updated the vmx file to have another MAC. NIC I get this error when I try to boot the secondary machine (which otherwise boots fine solo).

As I mentioned in the linked post, there are several unique identifiers that MAC address. Fusion has a UUID, and Windows has a SID. All must be unique (my guess is that it's the SID).

The network bridge on/dev/vmnet0 of the device does not work.

Which will result in network bridge does not work. The only suggestion I have right now is to try to restart the host, but demand around other people seem to be seeing this as well.

  • Same IP in two virtual machines of vCOps TIME

    Hello

I developed vCOPs v5.8.1.0. In the deployment of VAPP Wizard, I have selected the fixed option for IP addresses and gave two IPs previously reserved to the virtual machines. After deployment, the paralytic has been started. But I noticed some problems to connect to the user interface. After a minute, I noticed that two virtual computers have the same IP address. I have reviewed screenshots, and I conclude that the automatic configuration of VAPP worked well.

Someone knows the same behavior? Ideas to avoid a second deployment failed?

  • Netem VM between two virtual machines? Is this possible?

    Hello

I would use netem on a linux VM between two other virtual machines to simulate latency. Between Netem needs a machine with two network cards that he can fill. I've set up a VM on vSwitch0, a virtual machine on vSwitch1 and then an another VM with two network cards, one on each vSwitch. I thought that I create this box for use Netem and imitate and then between the two.

Has anyone ever done something like this? I ran into a ton of problems and want to know if people have tried.

I got it working by following these steps:

    1. create the computer virtual one with a NETWORK card on vSwitch0

    2. create a VM with a NETWORK card on vSwitch1 b

    3. create a VM n with a NETWORK card on vSwitch0 and vSwitch1

    4. set the port groups to vSwitch0 and 1 for the "Promiscuous" mode accept (from the default of rejection)

    5. set the n, a centOS VM VM for a networking interface using two network cards

Note: maps network of VM's and b VM were located in the same subnet.

    Once step 5 start working and traffic exchange VM has and through VM n. b I have experienced a strong delay 5ms ping where there was a<1 ms="" delay="" on="" ping="" when="" vm="" a="" and="" b="" were="" on="" the="" same="" vswitch.="" i="" came="" in="" the="" next="" day="" and="" the="" delay="" was="" gone.="" no="" idea="">

All the tricks to bypass and netem being by default in the installation of CentOS 6.4, I was able to establish conditions as the loss of delay and the package on the transport between the VM and VM n and b degraded as desired.

The reason that I wanted this to be complicated as it is I can take a virtual machine of vSwitch 0 and pop in vSwitch1 and all of a sudden traffic to and since it undergoes degradation due to the conditions imposed by the bridge n Netem the VM configuration.

  • Help to connect two virtual machines to internal network

    Hi all

I have 9 of VMware Workstation, and I installed two identical WinXP VMs. I put them both on the same custom netowrk (VMnet3) setting. In the virtual network on my Win7 host editor I updated VMnet3 'Host-only (connect VMs internally in a private network)', and I have left empty the box "Connect an adapter to the virtual host to this network".

What I'm trying to do is to connect the two virtual WinXP only between them, a small connection internal, so that a VM could ping on the other virtual computer, but cannot connect to my Win7 (real internet) host.

Now both show WinXP that they are connected (the icon of the internet with two small screens is there), and they both have an IP assigned. However, does not ping one of them to another IP address.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Check the block size for VMFS data store where the VDR-appliance is running. If the larger disk of your virtual machine is greater than the maximum file size of supportet on the VMFS where the VDR, VDR uses the network instead of add to hot. Move another VMFS-store data in big block with the VDR solves the problem in my environment. Also, in this case when the disk you lorsque le disque vous sauvegardez back up is a RAW device physikal mode, which should be ignored for VDR, VDR, but makes the network backup of the other disk of this virtual machine.

  • Two virtual machines disappeared

I had two created virtual machines. One is a VM XP SP3 and one is Vista. A week or two ago, I created a linked clone of the XP VM. Then I started yesterday VMWare Workstation and the only thing I see is the new clone related VM XP original and the Vista VM.  I guess the original XP VM's, since the clone needs to function, but I don't know why I can't. It's probably something simple, but I'm still getting the hang of VMWare, so I don't know why this virtual machine has "disappeared".

You should have a base directory for all the guests. You can navigate to it and included you find all your guests. Choose to open a host in VMware Workstation and access the directory of the guest in question. Select the .vmx file and the guest will be added again.

If you can't find these directory, you can search the disk for the *.vmx file.
