With the Intel HM55 Express Chipset in your notebook, the speed of the controller is SATA II 3.0 Gbps

    http://www.Intel.com/content/www/us/en/chipsets/mainstream-chipsets/mobile-chipset-HM55.html

Unless the disk sata III that you watch is much more expensive than a SATA II, I would go for the III.

  • installation of the SATA for XP 8560p

I have a 8560 with Windows 7 installed. I want to replace the drive (same type of SATA drive) with one another and install XP Pro.

I read the posts earlier say collect information of the Windows 7 install and I should be able to change the Bios IDE mode, install XP without using the F6 driver load and install the drivers after installing XP. I don't have a USB floppy drive so I thought I might be able to use a USB but the F6 prompt is looking for a drive A: and he doesn't so I went with the installation of the SATA drivers after installing XP.

In WIndows 7 Device manager it says the ide ata/atapi controller's (R) Mobile Express Chipset Sata ahci controller.

With BIOS change IDE, I was able to install XP Pro SP2.

The drive is detected as F: drive for some reason any.

I installed SP3 service pack. I also installed various HP drivers for networking, display etc.

When I go into the Device Manager it shows ide ata/atapi-controller.

6 Intel series/C200 Series Chipset Family 2 Serial ATA Storage Controller - 1 09 port

6 Intel series/C200 Series Chipset Family 4 Serial ATA Storage Controller - 1 01 port

It only shows the R) Mobile Express Chipset Sata ahci controller.

If I reboot and change the SATA BIOS I get a blue screen on startup of XP to load. Can only run as IDE.

Don't know where to go from here.

    Hello

I have Satellite L850-18 t and in the last 4 days, I had to reinstall Windows every day, whenever I stop the laptop no longer start. And today I can still start windows setup. Last time I used it, it was really slow, to open windows explore would take a lot of time.

Would be - this problem of HARD drive or something else? What type of SATA my motherboard supports? There is absolutely no information online about this.

    Thanks in advance.

It's very strange question. By default the BIOS settings and try to reinstall Windows (recovery image). On the virtual path that is not easy to offer accurate diagnosis but HARD DRIVE could be the reason why this happens.

In my opinion, you should contact Toshiba service nearest and ask for help. I assume s warranty still valid so if something needs to be repaired it will be carried out free of charge.

Unfortunately, on SATA type I can't say much because of missing information. You want to upgrade SSD HARD drive maybe? :)

can I add an additional hard drive to my laptop with the 256 GB ssd internal because the 256 GB is too small for me?

Unfortunately not.  There is no space to add another disk in a 15-inch laptop.

What you can do is swap the 256 GB SSD m2 for a 512 GB SSD m2.

It is only if you are willing to take the risk to disassemble the laptop, possibly damage and void the warranty. The SSD m2 is not a replaceable unit.

Once it is installed, you can use the usb recovery media you created to install the operating system in the new SSD. Cloning to the new SSD is not an option available as type a SATA SSD. I have not seen any usb cables M.2 SSD to date.

I just found out that usb SSD M.2 canbles are available. If cloning is viable.

It is hoped that someone had done a similar job. I know that the HDD in
This machine supports the SATA drives, but I don't know if the motherboard
supports several types of SATA drives. I have read several topics on
users who have bought an SSD for the replacement of the old HARD disk in
the laptop - just to find out that the motherboard did was too old and has not been
compatible with SSDS. Even if the motherboard supports some types
SSDS, this is no guarantee that it will work with the purchased SSD.

The SSD I think to buy, will be one of them:

Corsair SSD Force Series 120GB 2.5 GT "

  • ThinkStation S30 has problems with SSD MX100

I installed a MX100 Crucial 256 GB SSD in my S30 machines running Windows 8.1.

The BIOS seems to recognize the MX100 and I was able to do a new install of Windows 8.1 which seems to work OK.

However, the Crucial software Executive Storage fails to find the SSD in the machines so I'm not able to update the firmware to the latest version. Also, I tried to update the firmware using the ISO Crucial manual method that does as well.

My Windows 8.1 installation is up-to-date and as suggested in one of the messages on the forum, I installed a RST from Intel software.

Anyone has any ideas, any suggestions on how I can get the softare to run on the ThinkStation S30.

Psuturtle thank you very much for your answer. You are quite correct.

I had the MX100 connected to the blue SATA UCS port. I coonected drive to port 15 and was able to update the firmware using the ISO manual method.

However, Executive Storage still can't find the drive. I did a comparison test on the two types of SATA port and the port SATA of UCS is much slower than the legacy port. So, your help is very appreciated for helping me resolve the MX100 in ThinkStation S30.

  • VN7-572-500R: HARD disk insertion, do not upgrade

    Hello

I recently bought a VN7-572-500R (Core i5, 6th generation). IT only has an SSD, the place for the HARD drive is free.

So I want to use this free place and insert a disk of 1 TB HARD drive. The reader needs to be connected
to the motherboard. There is a small connector named HDD1 on the motherboard.

But the wire of the connector on the HARD drive is not present, because he has not put any HARD drive in this laptop, I do an insert, not an upgrade.

    1. is it at all possible to put a HARD drive in this machine, by plugging the connector "HDD1?

    2. where can I get this cable? Various videos say that this cable is of type m2, SATA III, type to other models of VN7 2280.

Thanks in advance for your help

(which obviously shows the first question on this model Nitro V7)

    Hello again

The HARD drive is now inserted and works very well with the portable Nitro.

    I inserted a Seagate Spinpoint M9T with 2 TB.

The most complex part of the process overall is openning the laptop.

Once the keyboard part is detached from the body, it is not necessary

disconnect the cables from the motherboard. Simply insert the HARD drive

place cushioned in the lower right of the box.

The HARD drive must be connected with the spare parts Acer cable for

the port called HDD1 on the mortherboard.

First boot of the system subsequently, new HARD drive won't need

win 10. It must be connected manually via the administration of the system.

  • Drive hard 303 and 305 errors

Hello. My HP Pavilion dv6-6095ex started using so slow to the extent that I could open any file; Therefore, I did hard automatic test of disk errors then got 303 and 305, so I searched for this topic and read a few reviews stating replace HARD drive is a must to solve the problem. Also, it was mentioned I need to check the number of spare part (that's what I found: 634250-001). BTW, I coludn can't found my model here ( & Maintenance Guide.).

These are the questions I hope to receive an answer, please:

    1. is there a HIGH possibility from facing the same problem in the near future, because I'm afraid to buy new HARD drive would be a waste?

2 - What are the best choices for a new HARD drive?

If you have any positive information I'm all ears and eyes ():

I would be very grateful for any help.

    Hello

    (1) No, the final solution only for the failed hard drive is replaced by a new brand of good quality one. Errors are conclusive for the replacement of hard disk.
But performance issues, you were previously dependent on who was in the car you use - physical spinning total use of the RAM, processor, hard disk of GOLD Chipset resembling the State (SSD) solid, useless & programs software removal etc.

Your system supports (160GB SATA) SSD who boosts performance significantly if the size limit is limited. Your system preinstalled 6 GB of RAM which gives pretty decent results. The processor is also good but not later that yours is 2nd generation Intel processor (the last is 4th gen).
So I think that replace HARD drive should minimize the performance issue.

    Read on: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01817290

It's your choice, you want an SSD performance but low by storing normal physical spinning of data (GOLD) HARD drive for large storage capacity & decent speed.

Your system came pre-installed with 750 GB 5400 RPM HARD drive.

According to the Service Manual of your product, I have given above, see Page 6 & 7, the system supports up to 1 TB 5400 RPM, SATA, 12.7 mm thick, form factor: 2.5 ".
It supports also 750 GB 7200 RPM but 9.5 mm thick, form factor: 2.5 ".
If you can replace with or any of the foregoing.

You can refer to Page 31 for more details.

Supported SATA type is SATA 2 i.e., 3Gbps, but SATA 3, 6 GB/s hard drives also go with your system, they are backward compatible.
