U2414H, black bars

I bought a monitor (U2414H) December 6, 2015. Monitors black band on all sides (half inch on each side and quarter inch up and down).  I have a XPS 8500 computer.

I spent about an hour with technical support problems.

They have warned me repeatedly, tried to transfer my calls with the promise that they would call me back if the line cut.

The line has been cut several times. Waited and then not call back I would call back each time and had to start the process all over again explaining my problems.

So far, I spent an hour and a half taking and waiting, but without any solution.

I tried to call customer service to see if I can return the product. Here again, I kept on hanging, then after 20 minutes someone told me that I called the business support, even if the number displayed on the Dell Web site showing the House and the customer. So, I put on hold with the promise that if the line has been disconnected, someone calls. But after 30 minutes of waiting, I gave up.

I also tried online. Online chat asked the service number, which does not monitor, although I bought it directly from Dell website using the Dell credit card.

The monitor has the serial number and another number to 6 numbers on the back.

It's frustrating. Can anyone help?

This is most likely a video card display setting. Read this. Here is the Guide of the user, your monitor. Go to page 35, which deals with the OSD (On Screen Display). Open the display settings. Left and right resolution must be 1920 x 1080 60 Hz. The proportions must be 16:9 Wide.

It is not normal that the monitor displays do not full-screen. Look at some YouTube videos. I have two connected displays.  A displays the mode full screen and the other has a border.  I am trying to solve the problem. I have a Dell AMD Radeon HD 7570 with two connectors - 1 DVI, 1 HDMI graphics card. I have two monitors that accept only the DP (Display Port) or HDMI. So I chose to use the HDMI. A form of the card's HDMI port and attached a DVI to HDMI adapter on the HDMI, creation of a HDMI port connector. When I do the monitors Dell U2414H. The image fills the entire screen, and the other has a black boarder around it. I would like to than the two screens to display the image on the entire screen. Dell said that it is a parameter. They said that the system thinks it gets a DVI signal instead of the HDMI signal. They would help me, but because I am out of warranty they want pay me $130 aid. Too much for me. I do not know what setting they're talking about. It is not the monitor. It could be BIOS or maybe the card. Need help.

Cable setup is the same, as you suggest except that I used a DVI-HDMI adapter and HDMI cable which is the same as the DVI to HDMI cable.

The wiring is not the problem.  It's the video card settings.  I got a response from another source that solves the problem I want to share.

What I saw, it's a problem that happens occasionally with HDMI cables and cards AMD. The solution is to go to options of panels flat digital Catalyst Control Center/My/graduation. Move the Underscan and Overscan slider to the left a little and come back all the way to the right (0%). The display should fill the screen. Click on apply and get out of the CCC.  It worked.

  • black bar on top of windows

    Hello

    Here's my question:

For some reason, I suddenly have a black bar on the top of each window.
I don't get this black bar in safe mode.
I always get this black bar with all the disabled extension (equivalent to safe mode)
I don't get this black bar when I select in the title bar in 'customize '.

Seems to be related to the title sort of bar...

I use the latest version of FF (42) on OSX 10.11.1

Thank you very much in advance for your help.
    Best,

Hello juliendalcol, try Disabling graphics hardware acceleration.

You will need to restart Firefox before this takes effect so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

    Then perform the following steps:

    1. Click the menu button

then select the Options under Windows or Preferences on Mac or Linux.

    2. Select the Advanced Panel, then on the general tab.
    3. Uncheck the use hardware acceleration when available.
    4. Restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

This solve your problems? Please report to us!

If the problem is resolved, you should check the updates for your graphics driver by following the steps in these articles in the knowledge base:

Acceleration is disabled in SafeMode except all the extensions and the material.

    Thank you.

  • Black bar on the right upper window controls

Since I "refreshed" Firefox 36, a small black bar appeared in the far right corner of the Firefox screen that exactly
covers the Minimize/resize/exit buttons. Although the controls work properly when I click in the box to left/center/right of the black bar, why is the bar, in that exact spot, in the first place? And how do I get rid of him?

I'm not a computer technician. I don't know what is safe mode or what's an extension. I'm just a simple user. I'll try to reload Firefox and if I don't get a version without these problems that I can't cope with I will begin using another browser.

  • black bar more close, minimize and full page.

Even so, the close, minimize and full symbols page still work, they are hidden by a black bar in the upper right of the screen. This showed up a couple of days. I've just updated to Firefox 30.0, but it does not eliminate the black bar.

I appreciate your help, I found the problem in safe mode! That was the theme, Aeon Big7.1. It is odd that what happened out of the blue, without changing anything. I'll see if I can contact the developer to see if he has any suggestions.

  • Suddenly, my Inbox T-bird has a black bar behind the tab, that just overlap the reduce/etc buttons

The black bar resembles a 'theme' and also affects my other records. Open message windows not the (old) blue bar at the top, and the reduce/resize/close buttons are clearly visible here. How to make the black bar on the records go away if I can see the buttons?

    Thank you.

Some time ago I noticed that a black bar began to appear at the bottom of the firefox window. There > > brand on the left, a suite command line to report without delay, which allows me to write, and an icon key and 'x' on the right. When I hover the mouse over the key, he says "switch developer tools" (or something similar in the sense - I translate from Polish). I spent the better part of an hour to seek solutions on the web, but I'm at my wit's end now - I don't know yet what we call this bar! Whatever it is, I would be eternally grateful for any advice on how to remove this terrible thing my browser (the more permanent solution, the better it is). Thanks in advance

  • On the Firefox screen, where is the black bar below the Navigation toolbar that alloweded of the specific research in 'Shopping', 'Images', 'Video', 'News', etc. Now, it appears only after a search.

If I remember correctly, old versions of Firefox had a black bar below the navigation bar on the opening screen that allowed specific searches for 'Images', 'News' 'Cards', 'Video', 'Shopping', etc.
Now this bar only appears when a search has been performed.
Is it possible to customize Firefox, so this appears on the logon screen.
The bar does not have a toolbar name.

Versions of Firefox 4 + use a new build-in home page named Subject: House with a Google search bar on this issue (no internet access required for the loading of this page).

What about: home page only shows a few clips and has a button to restore the previous session, as appropriate.

If you want a home with extras page, and then set a different page than the homepage like www.google.com as used in versions of Firefox 3 or on the iGoogle homepage ([www.google.com/ig]).

  • Firefox on the laptop of my wife lost the black bar that displays maps, Gmail etc. Now at the top of the screen there is an empty bar, triple height, with just the Google search box entry. How can I get that back? Or is it a question for Google?

When I open Firefox there is a black bar, sometimes vertical, sometimes horizontal, in the upper part, with links to maps, Gmail etc. When I opened Gmail the same links are listed at the top of the screen, just under the tabs. In my wife's cell phone, it appears in the Firefox splash screen, but not in the form of Gmail. In the top of the screen is an extra-large gray bar with just one Google search box entry. Is this a problem of Firefox or Google?

She has XP Home SP3 and Firefox 9

    Thanks for any help.

Is there still the Google URL in the address bar?

Reload Web pages, and ignore the cache.

    • Hold SHIFT and click reload.
    • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
    • Press 'Cmd + Shift + R' (MAC)
