U920T Satellite and annoying frequent buzzing fan spin-up battery life

Despite having 2 days, I get only 1 hour. My laptop is 6 or 7 hours with the same settings. It is rather disappointing for a tablet that I thought that it would last longer than just one hour only. Y at - it a setting I need to change?

And the fan kicks so often it becomes annoying. This looks like a small PERCo, or a moped, and I'm sure you mind students not in the library of the College campus.

Hello
> Is there a setting I need to change?

According to the Satellite U920T page sheet containing details on the working time of battery, you should be able to use the laptop up to 4 hours of battery operation.
You should know that the battery working time depends on notebook use. Very bright display settings can dramatically reduce the working time of battery. Also running high heavy as editor of game or graphics tools would decrease the duration of battery work.

But the laptop seems to be very new and the battery isn't calibrated so I recommend to calibrate the battery first. Benchmarking means the charge and discharge of the battery completely and to repeat this procedure several times after a few days of its use and calibration, the battery should the level of performance.

  • Satellite U405 - what is the best way to battery life increases

    Hello world!

I searched for it a little and everything I could find are contradictory answers and some confusing instructions... :)
Even the PDF for my U405 has some conflicting advice (it is recommended to completely discharge or not?)

I'm trying not to remove it and store it with a charge of 40% in a situation of low temperature (?) because I also trust him as a UPS (power cuts are common to sleep).

So, in short, what is the best way to prolong my life from the battery to its maximum? Should I fully discharge once a month or only to half way through? Should he ever be completely loaded, or which is actually a good thing?

Thanks in advance for any wisdom that anyone can offer on that!

    David

The best way would be to put it out of the laptop, but you already said, you don't do that.
So I say to completely discharge the battery from time to time and load it to the maximum.

That's all I can tell you right now, but don't know how much it will increase the battery life.

  • Re: Satellite C55-A-1JL - the fan spins at high speed after updating BIOS

    Hello

I've upgraded the BIOS of 1.20 to 1.40 and my computer started to automatically restart after a few minutes. the fan continues to run at high speed all the time

    Someone knows why?

Question: the laptop work properly not to mention that the fan is rotating fast?

Generally after updating the BIOS you must always load the BIOS default settings.
In the BIOS, press F9 (load by default), and then press F10 to save the changes.

  • Satellite M50 - A - 11 L - fan loosening

Earlier this year, I bought my M50 - A. I sent a return to an online store that had a fan obviously grinding noises like a Jet engine starting under load. The second device, I received and kept now exposes similar questions. At first the fan just shaken up a bit, but now it seems often come very loose and grind hard on the bottom cover of the laptop. I'll have to send in replacement of the fan.

Since 2 of 2 M50 - A I've tried fan problem I'll take a wild guess that they fail after a few days of operation for all M50 - A, perhaps due to the constraints of low profile. My fan was running a little (as in all my previous books, no excuse ) while I was playing low range on the graphics card games dedicated and compiled packages Linux - not the typical 'satellite' use cases. (I used the long battery life only once so far to use Notepad to prepare a GPS device in a car). Nevertheless, I believe that as long as they use material as planned, under normal conditions, no overclocking or anything similar working conditions there is no excuse for dying atypical use case components. I've heard talk of portable die of simply launching FurMark and people calling it dangerous reference. Any 3D application could potentially fall into this category then.

But back to my investigation. Basically why I post here, it's because I'm waiting for the new fan also fail after a few months, if the same model is installed. If someone here is a manager of Toshiba, can they please tell me if this problem with the M50 – has is recognized to Toshiba and what was done about this? Somehow, I hope that the answer is Yes, "we solved the problem with the manufacturer of fans and the replacements will have a much higher life." Otherwise, I have to think about how to continue to use this laptop.

    The specific model number is M50 - A - 11 L (part PSKPNE-01101UGR No.).

  • Satellite A215-S4757 - battery life and the problem of cooling fan

    Hello everyone,

I would like to ask a few questions abou my system: first, the cooling fan works in my view too often: almost without interruption, with brakes for 2-3 seconds. Is this normal?

I have my laptop since last August and I think that it shouldn't be a dust problem, because it is too 'young' for this and I do not live in an apartment "dusty"...

In any case, I think that the problem of "almost allways running fan" appeared about 2 months after I bought the laptop. I installed 'Speedfan' and I see 'HD0' temperature increases of 30deg remarks immediately after I have start the laptop, on 39deg after 1 hour.

But the most curious is that so called "Core" temperature oscillates from the beginning between 45deg and 52deg! The fan starts each time the core temperature rises to 50deg and stops when the temperature reached 45deg. This behavior is normal?

Is the normal temperature of 45-50deg? I use my laptop for browsing the Internet, emails, etc., no complex 3d games!

The second thing is that the battery life is (and has been since the beginning) not spectacular: it lasts max. 1.5 hours with wireless use on, but normal laptop (don't play not DVDs or something like that). Is this normal? If so, is it because of the amd processor turion 64 x 2?

Please help me with some tips / advice.

P.S. I bought my Toshiba as I was travelling to the US (NY).

    Thank you much in advance.

    Conrad

    > I would like to ask a few questions about my system: first, the cooling fan works in my view too often: almost without interruption, with brakes for 2-3 seconds. Is this normal?

I m an owner of a Satellite A210. It s similar to the A215. The A210 is a European model and the A215 belongs to the series of cell phones in the United States.
I noticed the same thing on my A210, and I think that's a normal s behavior.

    > But the most curious is that so called "Core" temperature oscillates from the beginning between 45deg and 52deg! The fan starts each time the core temperature rises to 50deg and stops when the temperature reached 45deg. This behavior is normal?
The 40-60deg CPU temperature is not unusual.
The temperature could affect up to 70-80degrees by practicing a game. So Don t worry about the temperature.
Cooling modules are controlled by the BIOS. Fan table is stored in the BIOS and it contains information about the limits of temperature and the use of cooling.
If a certain level of temperature has been reached the cooling module begins to spin with a certain speed.

Now, I would like to say a few words on the life of portable batteries
Generally the duration of battery life depends on the use of portable computers.
While playing games or watching movies the battery a lot faster.

In any case, your laptop is equipped with high performance devices and AFAIK Vista was preinstalled on this series. The two factors (high performance CPU and GPU devices) + Vista OS need a lot of battery power. Vista needs of more resources for laptop like Win XP, and so portable computers equipped with Vista operating system run more short on battery such as laptops pre-installed with Win XP.

Finally and above all he must know that there are different models more strong the battery with high * value of my would help run the notebook longer using the power of the battery.

Hope I could clarify this issue.

    Good bye

    Hi mate

Please check the settings in the Windows 7 power management!

There you can optimize the CPU and cooling performance module this should help reduce heat dissipation and fan speed.

In addition I recommend upgrading the Toshiba Fingerprint Software immediately to the version V1.0.2.32 or higher. In addition, turn off the power save option of fingerprint device in Device Manager.

Device Manager->-> authentic Tec Inc AES1610-> the power management of biometric devices

Here, you will have to remove the mark next to the option called allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
Disable the power saving mode will reduce the life of the battery, so you can check whether or not it helps reduce noise.

  • Satellite C855-1U7 - activity strange fan while playing games

    Hello

I played fifa14 for a long time, my laptop had the necessarily system requirements to play and my bios is the last, often my fan started working for many, up to 85% and 74ºC cpu temperature, it is normal because of the game, but in some time the fan stops and stops again and restart, restarts again until the game begins to become slowly.

I already have the game of repair and find viruses, but nothing wrong.

Pc health monitor indicates that everything is ok with cpu, I also have an external cooler with 2 fans.

Can someone help me with this?

    Thank you to

    Satellite C855-1U7

    Hello
Fan activity depends on the temperature inside the laptop.
But of course the activity described fan (, also, on, off) seems really odd to me.
However, there are not a lot of options that could be controlled.

First of all the details of fan activity and the information is stored in the table fan. Table fan is part of the BIOS.
You could try the BIOS to the default settings and you might check if BIOS can be updated using the new version of BIOS (if available).

I think you can also try to reduce the CPU performance changing settings in the Windows power options.

I m wondering why you use external cooling pad?
It is essential for cooling and the laptop overheating without the use of this external cooling pad?

  • Satellite P105 - GPU overheating as fan does not work

I brought a Satellite P105 - S9337 laptop computer around a year ago and it's been great, but I had a problem that began a few months ago. The GPU fan does not run under windows or any OS. It works correctly in the BIOS, but when I hit the operating system, it will stop. This is obviously the cause for overhead.

-J' tried different drivers of Toshiba and other sources. Currently using 7.15.11.5666 which was the last version of Toshiba.
-Tried all BIOS and running 4.40.
-Cleaned it if sure there is no dust blocking the fan wheel.
-I even sent to Toshiba for repair 4 times and it comes back with the same question.

It's as if the fan control is equal to change the operating system when it reaches him like bios and basic OS (dos, the flash media bootable back past) works very well. It runs when she is hot and stops when it is ok.

At the moment that I leat overheating for a while then he seems to remember he's a fan after 30 minutes or more and comes into play. It works on OS at full speed, until my laptop loses power or I unplug battery, that I did today to increase the RAM.

There must be some drivers or BIOS out there that allows the BIOS to manage the fan or it just as it manages itself is so it doesn't overhead. I'm not pleading can someone help me with what it's getting very boring. e-mail is [[email protected]] If you want to contact me, because I'm out of ideas.

If I can't get this resolved I'm thinking of dismantling and wiring of the fan on but would prefer to avoid that for now.

My laptop (P100-481) was overheating too since I have updated BIOS 4.20 and above all. The latest version of the BIOS with work-fan control was 4.00.

There are two ways to set the fan control:

1 go to BIOS 4.00. You'll get stuttering in games because the initialization of GPU in the form of Versions all 3.30 to 4.00 are buggy.

    2. you can try this way: [http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?s=679696d192a1f43137253716ebd799b8&showt = 19190 CIPO & view = findpost & p = 79039]

It's not easy install a double Windows, but it worked for me.

There is a bug in the BIOS 4.20 4.30 and 4.40 and a lot of people have trouble with the GPU fan. So hopefully Toshiba find time to fix it in the near future.

  • Satellite A660 - fan 90% on battery optimized mode

Hi all my dear users of Toshiba that I really respect because they use such great brand Toshiba. I hope you have the time to read my problem and that its length can not bother you and you can do me favor and answer me.
I am from Egypt and I recently bought the Toshiba Satellite A660 - 17M. It is really a great device and I've updated the BIOS twice on the official website of Toshiba and now I have the 2.00 BIOS os independent.

My problem now is that the fan cooling and here's what happens with me. When I adjust method in the Toshiba cooling ensures peak performance so that the temp is between 36 to 63% and the fan speed is 52 to 75% and it takes a lot of time turns off because it is not easy to reach the beach of temp which makes it either stops when I'm inactive or work.

The largest part of the problem is that when I change the method of cooling battery optimized mode everything working the fan going to 90% and rest, so never or up to this I put the laptop before in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 minutes. Then it is cool and it stops. So in the meantime either inactive or work done, it jumps again to 90%. When I turned off my laptop and wait to be completely cooled, then turn it on while in battery optimized mode the fan starts working during start-up only stops until Windows starts completely then it climbs to 90% and remaining so ever except when I force him to be cool by placing it in front of the fridge.

My friends, I think that it is not logical to always work in conditions of refrigerator and also it is illogical to have fan always 90% especially that I'm on battery optimized mode.

What is the problem in your opinion, and if someone has the same laptop can help and describe what is happening with him also. I do not remember if these events are produced before BIOS set to day or not as I they weren't in my mind before BIOS update and I don t know whether or not this happens also before the BIOS update.

From what I understand, is that the battery optimized mode fan running weaker than the maximum performance mode. Then what's happening and if you say he remains silent until this than complete Windows starts and runs then 90% to compensate for the accumulated heat, I agree with you, but shouldn't t happen to some extend then stops at the battery life optimized according to the name of the battery optimized mode.

Really I am so disappointed and now know what the problem is. Please help and don t advise me to call Toshiba. Whatever they say please send us the laptop. I m waiting for your responses and thanks a lot for the time spent reading my message.

    Hey,.

Normally if you use the battery mode optimized for the method of cooling the fan will run less maximum performance. So your laptop will work more silent, but with a higher temperature but usually you don't notice it.

So if this happened only since the update of the BIOS is you load the default settings in the BIOS after update? Go to the BIOS Setup and press F9 to load the default values. Then save & exit the BIOS Setup.

I would be also interesting to know what operating system you are using. What is the version preinstalled Windows from Toshiba or your own installation?

The fan should be cleaned from time to time using a jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. This can also help improve the cooling. An accurate and interesting article on cleaning the notebook, you can find here:

  • Satellite L655-158 - no cooling fan pedestal Grill

    Hi all

Just a quick question, I am repairing a toshiba satellite l655-158 for someone and found the cooling fan grille is blocked.
I took apart and it is just molded plastic on the other side but the fan is located directly above where the grid should be.
It doesn't have the grid on the side to evacuate the hot air, but nowhere to slide fresh of air.

The grill outside, but it looks as if it had not been completed at the factory if that makes sense.

Also the heat sink is attached to the CPU and short cooling fins but does not connect to the GPU along the way that I find a bit strange considering she will work directly on it but does not connect to it and to not provide the GPU with a cooling.

So I guess my question is, is this something supposed to toshiba do or maby a mistake at the factory.

He finds it's the GPU which is the defective part, but looking at these defects is not surprising that the GPU has failed.

Sorry to babble a bit but I just couldn't find any info on the internet.

Any info on this would be a great help.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Jamie

To be honest, I can't imagine such errors can occur. You know that every laptop manufacturer produce hundreds of thousands computers laptops and such errors are visible.

Similar thing is on my Satellite A660. Inside, there is place for cooling but the holes are disabled.
I just hope you're good in laptop repair and you will be able to fix a friends laptop. ;)

    Hey Gradma Sue,

Why you didn t use the forum search? You will find a sufficient number of threads on the cleaning of a Toshiba laptop.

You only need compressed air spray. With this, you can blow the dust from the cooling fans and it of quite easy to use.
I've created an interesting article from Toshiba that describes this step by step:
