Ubuntu Remix on Toshiba Satellite 110 series

Hi guys,.

I installed ubuntu remix on my Toshiba Satelite 110 that I just bought, but the wifi card gives me a lot of trouble. I can actually see it in the Bios. I can turn it works, but it tests not at all. It is the output of "lspci - tv. As you can see it the wifi card is not listed. So what about that, I have two questions
-do you have someone of you guys met any question like that on this model? If so, how to solve it?
-I believe that as a last resort, I'll install another wifi card in my new machine. Thos map I want to install but I wonder if you know guys of any restrictions on netbooks that I should be aware off the coast? So, feel free to comment on the model of the card, I chose and advised me...

Hello

Are you sure that the 110 Satellite supports a wireless network card?
I doubt that this good old classic is equipped with an internal WiFi card!

I found this Satellite 110 card and the wireless network adapter is not there!

  • Windows 8 turns off WiFi on Toshiba Satellite a series

Can someone please help? I installed windows 7 to windows 8 pro on a toshiba satellite A350, and I'm sure that all drivers are properly installed and updated, among which many course the wifi (Intel(r) wifi link 5100 AGN) device. all this perfectly, the first day, I improved the system, but the next day when I turned on the computer, the wifi was not working, knowing that the physical button is enabled in the settings of the wireless card is disabled, airplane mode is disabled.

I tried to run the network troubleshooter and it shows: WiFi is disabled
I tried also to update the NIC drivers, but I have the latest version installed (version of windows 7 is the only one available)
    any ideas pleaase?

I solved my problem... and this is the solution...

    * Open regedit (start-search-regedit)
    Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SYSTEM - CurrentControlSet - services,
Scroll down and open Ndisuio (double click). Open the "Start" key and change the value to low - 1. If the default 4 changes to 3, and the default value is 3 change to 2...
    * Close regedit and restart...
    It can be useful :)

  • How to install Ubuntu on a Toshiba Satellite L670D-102

    Hello

I tried to load Ubuntu 10.10 (tried the i386 and AMD64 platforms versions Desktop Edition) on a Satellite L670D-102 using a Live CD. The CD turns for a while, there is some activity on the hard drive and then I get a blinking white cursor (a hyphen) on a black screen. I left it overnight and it remained the same. I tried with "live" usb key and once again, no start. The CD and usb work in other machines running amd processors and intel.

The kind of questions that come to mind are:-
Is there a safety or other setting in the cmos memory which prevents the Windows loading anything?
Are Toshiba simply anti-Linux and I need a new machine?
Do I need a special bios to run Ubuntu?

Any help to resolve the issue would be welcome.

    Large.
    Thanks for the comments.

  • Starting with Ubuntu Remix on Toshiba NB100 problems

Today, I tried to use the Update Manager to install several updates.

    During installation, the device froze.
Now start only takes me to the start page of Ubuntu with the logo and a progress bar is empty.

If I go to the Terminal, I have the following script
    BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3 - 5 Ubuntu12) shell (ash) integrated
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
    (initramfs)

I have no idea how to proceed. Is there a command that I can use for commissioning successfully or do I need to use the recovery CD?

    I'm a newbie to Linux.

    Thank you.
    David Lowe

    Hello

I think that you should just grab the laptop because it's the easiest way to solve this problem starting Ubuntu.
Other workarounds would be too difficult and would take as long as a simple recovery.

Recovery if the NB100. The procedure should t take long.

    Check it out!

    Cheers mate

Display on my M50A110 has been broken, and I want to order a new. How can I order this part?

Given that I can't find option change anywhere, what I really wanted to ask is what is the part number display on the order of display for Toshiba Satellite M50-A-110? • Ubuntu on Toshiba Satellite U940 - startup of: SSD

    Hi guys,.

I think buy Toshiba Satellite U940. The reason is that he a dimmable-up ultrabook so I'll buy 16 GB of ram and a 120 GB of msata SSD. I'm going to install ubuntu. But because I'm not sure that two important things, I would ask you first.

    1. can you the msata SSD was seen directly from the bios? I want to install ubuntu on it and also to have my case start and all programs there. I ask this question because I read somewhere msata SSD it is only for the purpose of the cache and cannot be seen directly because it is in RAID mode. So can we get around this thing from the bios? I just only to manipulate the msata SSD as a disk driver normal in my bones. It is this possible?

2 are all drivers for Toshiba Satellite available for ubuntu linux U940?

Thank you guys for your time.
    Harry

    Hi Harry

Good to hear about your projects!

I can't answer your question exactly since I don't have the necessary information to do so.
However, I can tell you some things that can help!

The RAID configuration is purely software-rendering. So it can be removed from f.ex Ubuntu disk-tool.
I installed Fedora on the U840 and U940 that have the same RAID on an internal SSD flash drive and internal HARD drive.

The RAID can easily be removed and that make storage devices appears as installation targets unique (e.g. SDA and SDB).

However, I can't tell you if any data 3' rd party SSD will work in the U940.

My Setup was when I used the 32 GB SSD as a target for the OS - which is actually a LOT of space for an OS Lnux.
The internal HARD disk has been mounted as HOME.
In this way, I had the speed of the SSD for all operations of the system (boot, updates...) while having massive storage HARD drive for personal data.

Regarding the drivers, I think in addition to the basic features should work (WiFi, screen, sound, etc).
In my tests, I noticed (but is no intensive testing is) no problem don't except the backlight on the keypad was not working on older kernels.

  • I have a Toshiba Satellite A85 with XP Home Edition series. Windows does not start. At startup I get Toshiba logo then a black screenwith cursor upper left. Can I save it?

Toshiba Satellite A85 Celeron with XP Home edition. Windows does not start. I have Toshiba logo screen, then it turns into a black screen with the upper left corner of the cursor. I have the recovery disk. Is it possible to record HD without re-formatting and losing all data?

    Thank you;

If you run the Toshiba recovery application, you will lose all your data.  As indicated in the warning, this application will restore the computer back to wherever it was when it was first delivered by the factory.

Without other complementary diagnostic information, it is difficult to determine what is happening.  Pressing the key (do not hold) of F8 beginning immediately after that the sequence of power should bring you to the Advanced Boot Options menu.  Try again then press repeatedly the key rather than pressing on and now.

The recovery CD Toshiba, you have probably does not allow a "repair installation".  Contact Toshiba to see if they will provide you with a suitable CD.

Given the fact that you can get a useful place when you start with the Toshiba Recovery DVD, my guess is that the computer is OK but that the hard drive has failed - or maybe more likely - the startup information is damaged so that it does not start.  If you have access to a computer equipped with a burner, download and create a bootable Windows CD.

There are a number of available bootable CD which include various recovery and diagnostic tools.  You'll have to do some research to find out how to use the tools.

    Ultimate Boot CD 4 Windows
    Ultimate Boot CD
    Hiren BootCD

If you feel overwhelmed by the tools and I just want back the data, and then use the Toshiba Recovery DVD, make you a Knoppix CD and use this key to your data, preferably on a network connection.

If all this sounds like too much for you - and there is no shame in admitting that--take the laptop for a good local computer repair shop (not a type BigBoxStoreUSA or rather GeekSquad) and ask them to check it out and make sure to recover your data before anything else.

  • Installation of Ubuntu 14.04 on Satellite NB10t-A-101 does not work

    Hello world

Sorry for my English: it is not my mother tongue. I'll try to explain my problem.

I would like to install Ubuntu 14.04 on my computer (Toshiba Satellite NB10t-A-101), but it does not work.

I boot on my USB (made with RUFUS), but it works once for each five times.

After you install the operating system, when I restart the system, the computer does not find an operating system (I precise that I already check the EFI BIOS and disable secure boot)

    How to install Ubuntu?

    Hello

This series of portable was equipped with a processor Intel Celeron 2810 n and this CPU belongs to the new Intel BayTrail platform.

I am trying to enter a Toshiba satellite pro S500-15W bios. I tried the key F2 and FN + F2 keys don't set fixed no joy. Then downloaded the latest version (2013) the update of the bios for this series and windows 7, 32 bit. When I try to run the update I get the message "this computer is not supported". If anyone can help.

Try to hold down the F12 key during the restart of the unit. You will see several options on the page that appears. You'll want to install at the bottom. I have the case of the warning you will are you aure you have win 7?

Most of the time you get this error, or you have a different version, in this case 64 bit? or another OS 8.1 or 10? Take a look at your computer, control panel settings of IE - settings then you can ook at what OS you have and the 32-bit version of or64.

  • Keyboard freezes after Suspend in Ubuntu 16.04 on Satellite S-50 d-A-10F

    Hello

I use a Toshiba Satellite S-50 d-A-10F with Ubuntu 16.04. Every time the laptop wakes from sleep mode, the keyboard no longer works. A reboot is required to restart.

I searched on the Ubuntu Forums, and it seems that the problem is related to the keyboard driver, but I was not able to find a Linux driver for this model.

Is there a solution to this problem, or computers notebooks Toshiba are not compatible with Linux?

    Thank you

    Murray

I'd be curious to know what state 16.04 Ubuntu is awakening to. It is after you have closed the lid of the laptop or after the black screen after a long period of inactivity? I guess that once you start Ubuntu, the keyboard works correctly. If so, the software that surrounds the keyboard probably working properly. The mouse work after suspension?

I saw messages emphasizing that, in some cases, automatic keyboard detection does not take place after resumption of a suspension. Although I would have thought that Ubuntu 16.04 took care of that, useful search words can be resume autodetect keyboard.

  • Sound on Toshiba Satellite L755 - 1J9 PSK2YE problems

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L755-1J9 PSK2YE maybe it's coincidence but was upgraded to Windows 10 and stopped working the audio.
Thinking that it was Windows 10, Formate of the computer and install Windows 7 but still the same, the sound works for 5 minutes and cut until you put another video.
If I connect a headphone or Audio HDMI is not cut ever.

I noticed it happened to most Toshiba laptops, but I found no solution. Anyone know any solution?

I got into ubuntu to test the audio and the same thing, to five minutes run out sound until you put another video.
