UDP communication via secondary ethernet port on the cRIO-9074 problem.

Hi guys.

I connected my host pc running LV 2010 my cRIO-9074 port using a main ethernet crossover cable. I want to use the second port ethernet on the cRIO-9074 to read UDP messages, and I want to access these messages on my host. UDP messages are sent from a local network, but for testing I also use a second pc running LV 2010 to send UDP messages.

I configured the ethernet on the cRIO-9074 ports according to this tutorial: "knowledge base 4E0DGASK: Configure the Ports of double Ethernet on real-time controllers'." " My host and primary ethernet port belong to 'Subnet A' while the second port and the second computer, sending UDP messages belong to 'Subnet B' (at the end of my post I will list the masks of ip addresses and the subnet).

For simplicity, I used the VI´s of this example as a basis for UDP communication. The "UDPServerOnRemoteTarget.vi", which broadcast messages UDP, will run on the secondary computer. The "UDPClientOnRemoteTarget.vi", which reads messages UDP, will work on my host pc.

Now, in the 'UDPServerOnRemoteTarget' VI, you must specify two IP addresses (port # remained unchanged at 3363):

1: the IP address of the ethernet port that will be broadcast UDP messages.

2: the IP address of the ethernet port that will receive the messages.

In the #1 case I put the IP address to the IP address of the ethernet on the secondary pc port.

At the #2 I tried to set the intellectual property: a) IP address of the secondary ethernet port on the cRIO, b) IP address of the ethernet on my host computer port and c) IP address of the primary ethernet port on the cRIO.

None of the parameters produced results. I also tried to change the port number, which did not help.

However, if I bypass the cRIO and connect the host pc and the secondary computer directly (by using a cable crossed a regular cat5 ethernet cable), I am able to send and receive UDP messages (the two stand-alone always are on different subnets). I guess that this at least excludes any fault in the VI´s code.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? Is it possible at all to read the UDP messages that are sent to the secondary ethernet port on the cRIO my host pc?

I have searched the entire site OR and forums, but didn't come through all that solved my problem. Most of the other tutorials configuration resembling my case is to import the device sends UDP messages in the project, but which is clearly not possible in my case, or is it?

My IP settings are:

cRIO 9074:

Primary ethernet port: 169.254.62.215

Secondary ethernet port: 192.168.0.102 (static)

Host PC: 169.254.58.4

Secondary PC: 192.168.0.144 (static)

SubnetMask on all ports are the value 255.255.0.0

I hope someone out there can help me out.

Kind regards

Phat

Solved.

Stupid mistake. I was running the VI on the host instead of the cRIO pc, which explains why direct communication between the computers worked. Everything works well when it is compiled for the cRIO.

Kind regards

Phat

    Hi Paul,.

    ·         Why are you using a USB port to create a network connection instead of using an Ethernet connection?

  • Same code compiled for the cRIO-9074, but reports no diagram component calendar violation for cRIO-9067

Hi, just got my new cRIO-9067. I have converted my project over the cRIO-9067 since the cRIO 9074. Same layout module, same engine, same scan code custom fpga, (hybrid mode).  I have no problem of compilation for the 9074, which is a lower performance FPGA architecting the 9067 FPGA.

The final timetable for windows compilation shows that the timing is respected for all clocks - 40, 80 and 120 MHz (I use a clock derived for some code sctl). During the end of compilation, during the phase of gen bitfile, I get the dreaded time violation. Investigation of the breach indicates that it is not the custom code, it is not schema components. One of them seems to be linked to the card series OR 9870 I in the chassis.

Why? Is there anything I can try with the compiler directives for this problem? You would think that it would be easier to compile for the highest performance FPGAS...

OK, don't ask me how I thought this output - to run I changed nothing else than this: feed the I/O node a reference FPGA of e/s instead of configure the node via the menu "link to. It makes no sense, but the compilation succeeded when I did this.

I know it is because I created a very simple test VI in my project and made sure it does not compile without it.

  • The computer hangs during the communication via a serial port

I developed a code in LabVIEW 2011 to connect with the XY stage. It's actually two steps mounted perpendicularly. The installer of the system is that a (made by the same manufacturer as the stadium) gamepad is connected to the USB port on the computer if a USB to Serial converter. A step is daisy chanied to the controller and the other stage Garland at the first stage.

To our application had to continually check the status and position of the steps X and Y. Because the joystick also returns responses when a request is sent to all devices, I need to send applications individually; for example. one request per order per device, making it a total of 4 orders. It takes care of the error returned by the controller. The problem, however, is that after a while the freezing of the program or the computer stops and restarts. It is located about 13 minutes (on average) after the start of the program. It also happens even when no command is sent to the devices. I put 50 ms delay before each send two commands (position and status) by device. Basically, the application waits for 50ms before sending two commands for X stage and the receipt of the response and when everything is done with X stage, he expects another 50 ms to do the same for step Y. Should this procedure goes on until the application is stopped. But as I said, there is a problem. Now, I guess the problem is that serial port buffer overflows. He chose to increase the delay time, but if it works to solve the problem, then I have no choice!

I would appreciate any thoughts and comments!

After a lot of time to experiment, I am convinced that the issue was with adapter Profilic.

  • Can workstation make me use the ethernet port on the remote computer?

    Ideal solution would be:

I have specialized software on my computer I want to use without installing it on the remote computer.

For now, I have to because the software uses the ethernet computer port to do a job, the software is used to.

    (1) is there a solution out there for everything just to connect to a remote computer and make use of its ethernet port remotely?

Someone told me that VMWare Workstation last night. Maybe it's completely off-base.

If this remote computer is connected to another computer via an Ethernet cable, but not for the internet, only data.

For me to be able to connect to it, the remote computer must maintain a simultaneous Wifi connection as well.

I use Teamviewer to fight against it.

    (2) if 1) above is not possible, I'm back to my current setup which is to the software me, I need on that remote computer. But my problem is that it does not seem possible to have WiFi and Ethernet connections at the same time.

Please correct me / explain how if I'm wrong.

How can be useful to me in these scenarios Workstation?

Thanks in advance for your help. I'm looking everywhere for more than a week.

I read that you wrote in your OP several times and no offense not expected however it is not well presented and I find I have to ask the many requests for clarification, however, I will say this...  A Virtual Machine is presented only a wired Ethernet adapter no matter how the host connects to the LAN/WAN and if you need to wired Ethernet and WiFi Ethernet in the Virtual Machine, and then in addition to the default wired Ethernet you can also provide your own card Ethernet Wi - Fi USB to connect to the virtual machine as well as the two available to the virtual machine at the same time.

Others while I won't waste time asking a bunch of questions and if you want to take an another stab as describing in explicit and specific in detail what you have and are trying to accomplish, then I add more to the discussion.

  • Connection cRio 9074 second port ethernet to another device via VISA

I'm trying to connect a DAQ Yokogawa system to a cRio 9074 via the second ethernet port. I activated the second ethernet port of the cRio with a static IP address on the same subnet as the data acquisition system. I installed the driver NI-VISA and NOR-SERIAL on the cRio. I can compile the code on the cRio and I'm sure that the code works when I connect to the acquisition of data to a PC. I get an error on the open VISA VI.

Am I missing something or is it not possible to connect the second ethernet port on the cRio in this way?

    Thank you

Thank you for your response. I found the same information that you provide, but decided to give it a try.

A few minutes ago, I was able to perform communication between the cRio 2nd access Ethernet DAQ Yokogawa. I managed to do it using the VISA controls. To communicate with the host PC, I get the information of the DAQ with the cRIO as described above and then use shared variables to publish data on the network connected through the first ethernet port.

If anyone wants to reproduce it just to make sure that the two ethernet ports are configured with IP addresses on different subnets that are configured for TCP communication. If more details are to be simply send me a message.

    Kind regards!

  • Using the second ethernet port to connect to the printer?

Hi I have a Mac Pro 2.1 old school and I'm wondering if I can connect to the network with an ethernet port and connect the latter to a printer?

    If so, how?

    Yosemite running.

    Thank you

Physically, you use a port and a cable to connect to your network and use the second port and a second cable to connect directly to the printer. The printer must obviously have an interface Ethernet himself.

However, you need to configure the second port on the Mac and the Ethernet port on the printer for each manually configured the TCP/IP addresses and these should be in a range of different network to your main network.

If you the main network is something like 192.168.1.1 then your printer and the port on the Mac connection to this need to be in another network, such as 192.168.11.1.

In theory, if the printer supports Hello aka. mDNS, then maybe you can get away with not having to configure TCP/IP addresses for the connection.

The main reasons to use a second separate connection as this would be the performance or security, and frankly I don't think that's really relevant here. This would mean that no other computers on your network will be able to access the printer.

    Hello world

I use a u3.0 dock Dynadock with my Vaio PCS 13.
I'm not able to use the Ethernet port on the Dynadock since I updated my Windows 8.1 device update 1.
    Before that everything worked well.

I'm not able to re-install the drivers correctly (tried 7.6m0, 7.5m2). While the game driver tries to start, I get an error message, Setup is not able to put a bunch of registry (SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DisplayLinkGA\D evice1) keys (up to 0). (Image 1)

If I ignore these messages and do not install the driver, the Ethernet port will not installed in Device Manager. (Image 2)

If I try to install the driver manually (DisplayLink network adapter NCM), I'll get an error message that a driver has been found but that access has been denied. (Image 3)
I started the safe mode and could install the driver. But if I reboot in normal mode, the machine could not be started.

    Hello

After upgrade to 8.1 Windows, you should also update the software/driver Display Link
    This is very important!

The latest version of the driver can be downloaded here:

Note: the old version must be removed!

    • rebooted a couple of times
    • Reset the PRAM
    • the power disconnected for several minutes left
    • tried two different terminals
    • tried two different Ethernet cables
    • tried the two Ethernet ports

The light of the end device will blink.
