Unable to access iPhoto Library in iMovie!

Since I upgraded my mac computer at the El Captian, I am not able to access the iPhoto library in iMovie where you usually go to import photos after clicking on the camera icon.

My iMovie is a ' 08 version.

When I clicn the camera icon to import photos or drag my iMovie project, selection of pictures only I have are pictures of my Photo Booth app, but does not have same iPhoto Library in option please more use to!

I tried to go on iPhoto preferences and select "Use as iPhoto Library system", but I can't because it is grayed out. Not sure if this would help.

Can you please help? I have tried everything I can think!

Thank you very much for segments of memory.

You must update iMovie - the latest version is 10.1.2 - El Captain is a new OS and requires the updaes software in many cases

What can I do to run my 'old' version of iPhoto.

    Need your help.

P.S. Yes, my computer is old and other problems from time to time. I.e. screen will become black. Remedy is to push and hold the button start down on the left rear of the computer, for a second, press the space bar, and I'm back in business. Other problems are treated by stop and restart. For example, this morning, none of my apps would open. Had to force quit, stop and restart. My intention is to do everything that I can to keep my 'old' computer will. Reason: I am 72 years old and have neither the time nor the money to invest in a new computer and learn a new operating system. That would mean virtually lose documents, which are always screwed up when switching to a new operating system. I also very much invested in my music through GarageBand home recordings. Of a lot of photos, iTunes, etc...

Copy the iPhoto library to an external drive and then update a copy of the internal.

  • upgrade to El Capitan unable to access iPhoto

Help, please!  I have finally upgraded to El Capitan after several guests.  Now my iPhoto has a line through it and tells me that I need to improve.  When I go to the App store it says iPhoto is not available in the United States.  How can I get my photos located in iPhoto?  IT IS SO FRUSTRATING!

Mac OS X 10.10.3 and newer include Photos, which is designed as a replacement for iPhoto and can import library. If you want to go on the use of iPhoto in addition to or instead of switch to Photos, click here and try following the instructions; you will only be able to do if you got before where associated with iPhoto on the Mac App store.

    Welcome to the Apple community.

You wonder if you might be looking at the wrong place. You can watch/listen to house content shared app for computers not the music app.

  • access to the iPhoto library

I have access to my collection iPhoto from the Finder on my new Mac update. I just bought a new desktop computer with OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 version. 3.3, i5 Intelcor GHz with 8 GB of memory, processor 1600 MHz DDR3.  My digital data was transferred from my old Mac. New Photos asked if I wanted to create a my iPhotos library, and I did. It is stuck at 24% of the creation and said that i can't quit the process (reboot) while it creates a new library.

What is your iPhoto library?  If it is important, the upgrade of Photos may take several hours without any visible progress.  Let it run all night, if your library is large.

Is your iPhoto library in your folder of images on your new Mac, or is it on an external drive?  If it's on an external drive, check the file system. Is it Mac OS extended (journaled) format and not a Time Machine disk? With another file system, it is not possible to migrate the library on this drive.

  • Migration access to my Time Machine files but does not transfer to iphoto library and is

I used the migration to set up my new 2011 macbook pro. Looks like everything transferred except iphoto library and it is. I use iphoto all the time. I need this program. I want to use my new macbook 2011 as my only computer. That's happened? How can I get my iphoto on the new computer?

What pictures and its library? They are thus not transferred?

  • One of my iPhoto library isn't stop unexpectedly

On my MacBook Pro, I have two iPhoto libraries. The first is old, small and rarely used. The second is my main, very large and currently closes unexpectedly when opening.

I recently added a few new retouched photos and them organized on this great library. Everything worked well and I even leave the iPhoto app and reopened a couple of times, no problem.

So, when I was looking at the pictures, he leaves the on me. Now, whenever I try to open it, it stops within 45 seconds.

Strange part is, I can open my little library very well, and I can access photos if my external hard drive is plugged (large iPhoto library is saved on it).

I tried to 'Fix' the library, I restarted my mac in 'Safe' Mode and now tried the SHIFT key while opening iPhoto (all recommended to me through Apple support.

I wish I could contact the experts in iPhoto, but they are no longer available through the phone call, which I am unable to do.

Help, please! Thank you in advance!

What version of iPhoto do you use? If your profile signature is still valid (OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)) you probably have the problem that the functionality of the site does more work in older versions of iPhot, because Google's servers are no longer available for iPhoto.  You can test this by disabling your internet connection.  IPhoto starts correctly, if you are working offline? • Opening iPhoto library from a backup Time Machine in pictures

I'm trying to make sure I have backups of all the photos of my old iPhotos library (something that I can open the individual files in the Finder, not just a copy of "iPhoto" Library). I turned on my old iMac that is not used much more to make copies, and when I open 'Photos' my iPhoto library is not linked. When I hold "option" at the opening of the Photos app, I see these options:

I think I'm trying to access the old iPhoto library, so I click on it, but then I see this message:

I tried to go to disk utility to repair permissions, but the problem persists. My next thought was to open an old Time Machine backup and try and open the backup iPhoto library, but when I do that, I see this screen:

Any suggestions on how to access my old photos? What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you!

Are these old libraries or backups Time Machine? TM backups cannot be opened directly, you must first use TM to restore the disk

and where are these libraries? On the main drive or on an eternal drive? If on a DHM what format is and how is it connected?

I connect my apple TV to my TV to view my library now apple TV tell me to turn on home Exchange to see the computer.

But let's first how can I fix my library it get me images back.

A word that I used a mini mac running 10.7.5 with iPhoto and I tried to launch iPhoto on it and got the same error message.

    Thank you

    Martin

iPhoto versions 9.5.1 old ones don't work anymore, if you have never enabled the places in iPhoto feature, because Apple has not renewed the contract with Google to access servers in places.

This user tip explains a little background, why crashes in iPhoto, see this link: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-9421

iPhoto 9.4 crashing during playback of the scene

He explains how patch the iPhoto application to prevent it from crashing by removing the html files in-house with java code.

If iPhoto not to crash, when you disable the network and work offline, you probably encounter the problem described in this thing.

Is no longer entirely, older versions of iPhoto are supported, the best solution would be updated to El Capitan, and iPhoto 9.6.1 - this version didn't need glasses of servers. (but the iPhoto 9.6.1 update will be possible, if you have a version of the AppStore in iPhoto).

Apple now supports only the News Photos for Mac application, that comes with El Capitan and Yosemite. You will not be able to order print iPhoto, independent of the version products.

  • iPhoto library picture problem - what is their actual size, I can delete?

    Hello

I'm trying to fix a friend's Mac airbook. It is insufficient on... out of 120 GB hard disk space, only 5 GB remaining who is causing trouble.

Now at some point, she has improved iPhoto to photos! On his computer, there are now two files... and it size differs depending on what software I use:

    OmniDiskSweeper:

    iPhoto Library 30.2 GB

    Photo Library: 15.2

    Daisydisk:

    IPhoto library: 18, 7 GB

    15.2 GB photo

    ---

    total: 33.9

    GrandPerspective:

    iPhoto: 27.9

    Photo library: 3.46

    -

    total: 31,36 GB

    Finder (information)

    IPhoto library: 30 GB

    Photo Library: 15.7 GB

    1. If the size is the iPhoto library? 30.2 GB, 30 GB, 27.9 GB or 18.7 GB? And what size it the photo library? If information can I trust?

    2. can I remove one of the libraries?

I really need to make room for her and have tried everything... the real solution appears to tackle this problem of libraries of photos.

    Help, please!

PSI don't know exactly how it migrated data. In any case I read much online and some people say that I can remove the old library, some people I can't say... or even if I do, saved on hard drive size won't matter.

beawre: this lady has no backup anywhere! (I know, crazy... but that's how she made things... I cannot now buy one for her, so I need to be careful before deleting anything)

If it does use iPhoto, you can delete the iPhoto library but you should check it first just in case

as for its size can in no way anyone without access to the computer can tell

as for space economy it will probably save a lot because it seems that she has a lot of deletions of his photo library or use iCloud photo library with optimized photos - immediately after the migration, two libraries share links to the originals and previews and deletion either saves very little space but that changes are made to one and not the other potential savings grow - my guess is that in his case, the savings will be a lot, but the only way to know is to archive the iPhoto library and delete it and restart

And be very careful about programs like OmniDiskSweeper - if you use it to remove pictures of each library it will destroy the library - you should NEVER directly remove anything on a Photos or iPhoto library - always use the program to remove things

  • What happened to the photo library in iMovie

I just started to edit my video of my last vacation I unlike the previous films, I made I can't access my library of Photos because it has disappeared from the media list. Can you tell me how to get on it please?

There seems to be a bug in iMovie 10.1.x where the library of photos occurs intermittently. The workaround is to launch the photos app before running iMovie. I don't think that he must leave it open. It must be stable in iMovie while iMovie remains open. It takes to make sure that if you have more than one library of photos that you want to use is designated as the library systems in the preferences of photos.

  • Photos referenced in the photo library are in the iPhoto library

I have 26 pictures in my library of Photos that are referenced photos. I want to collect my library of Photos. However, when I try to do it says Photos that I need to allow it for the folder that contains these 26 photos. Unfortunately, this folder is inside my old library iPhotos, which is a package and therefore cannot be accessed via the dialog window Photos gives me.

I tried to find 26 photos manually via the Finder via "Show package content", but I can't find them. A Spotlight search did not help either.

Does anyone know how add these 26 photos referenced in my photo library.

The strange thing is all the other photos (over 7,000) migrated my iPhotos library my library of Photos with no problems.

I have 26 pictures in my library of Photos that are referenced photos. I want to collect my library of Photos.

Have you tried to select the photos referenced in Photos and then use the command "file > consolidate?  To copy the original image files referenced in the photo library and making photos managed them.

What happens when you try?  I see that sign.
