Unable to connect to a Windows XP Pro SP3 machine using remote assistance

Remote Assistance XP Pro sp3 and Windows 7Any

I realize account of Windows 7 is still in RC, so if that's the answer, that's what it is. :-)

Trying to help MOM with assistance remotely.  She is under XP Pro sp3, and I'm running a box fully patched Windows 7.  When she sends the invitation of the RA, the box 7 attempts to connect says it is connected and then is waiting for response from the user.  However, she never had a guest on his machine to accept the request.

Now, I know what you think, so take that into consideration.  When it does work, I broke out my other laptop under XP Pro SP3 and was immediately able to get on her box without any problem, that is to say, just behaved as expected.

Any suggestions for W7 to connect to a box of XP Pro sp3 with RA?  I can see it as an ISP thing - maybe - 7 using a protocol of its blocks to ISP (as cox communications blocks port 80 on residential users), perhaps a DCOM conflict or something like.  I really hope that this isn't just stupidity on my part, but it would not be the first time. ;-D

Any input appreciated

Thank you

Joe

PS we also tried the direct connection to the net - no device between us other than (his end) DSL modem and modem cable (my thesis).

  • Pavilion 140 550 - t: unable to connect to the windows service

Not sure if it's the good advice of post, but here goes.

Just got the HP computer yesterday and installed Norton Security, Malwarebytes, and Windows Live Mail (do not like the version of Mail). Now, when I start it, I get "Unable to connect to the Windows Service" pop up and WLM crashes when I try to open it. What the DEVIL?

Had the same problem on the one I just replaced. My laptop became the 'Group Policy' error thing, but I think I fixed it.

Any suggestions? Windows is a joke!

If it is Norton Security, then it's a firewall as well and firewalls blocking things, it's that they are supposed to do. So demand for three, you said that this is probably the cause.

But if you do not want to test it, then try the system restore I've mentioned or reload the image origin, then just put in place the email again and see if it works without the other two installed, first to see if it will work with anything else in the picture.

    Hello

It would be a good idea to run the System File Checker tool to see if you have corrupted files

"How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the files on system missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

    And Malware scan:

Search for malware, if necessary using the safe mode with networking.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista

    Using the F8 method:

I am running windows 7 Ultimate and I have never had this problem before and now my office gives this appearance: it looks like a mix between xp and safe mode.

Have tried to restart the computer several times, System Restore won't answer, "netsh winsock reset", the "user profile Service' and"System Event Notification Service"is started and set to automatic.

I don't really know what else to do, can anyone help?

Not an expert on computers, just a heads-up.

  • Windows 8. error message unable to connect to a windows server.

Hi, I have a dell Windows pc 8.

He just started to give an error message

Unable to connect to a windows server. Windows could not connect to the windows service install all agent users. This problem prevents standard users connect. As long as administrator, you can go through the system event log to see why the service did not respond.

Right now my wife can not access his account. my email will not download the messages. I can't remove programs as it says I'm not administrator.  Also the external hard drive does not connect.

    Any help please

    Kumar,

Thanks for your help. I found a similar problem after I posted. Vijay said on July 7, 2013. He proposed to test the computer in safe mode, and then perform a clean boot to solve the problem.

I tested in mode of sure start before returning to the normal sign in and magically, it seems to have solved the problem.

If the problem comes back, I will try your solution.

Can not think of any changes made to the computer with the exception of a Windows update last weekend.

    Thank you for your support

Whenever I boot my Toshiba ultrabook and go to Internet Explorer (not the tile splash screen), I get an error message: "unable to connect to a Windows service. Windows could not connect to the Service Agent all Windows users. This problem prevents standard users connect. As an administrator, you can view the system event log to see why the system has failed. "One of the consequences, it seems that when I go to my Windows Live email account via the Mail tile, it is no longer updates the Inbox (to any new email here for the last week or two). Another application (XE) is now longer provides updated information on its tile.

    Hello

    This information should be useful.

    1. the HOSTS file would have an impact on all browsers. If you do not deliberately use the HOSTS file to block some websites, run the FixIt in this article to reset (clear on) the HOSTS file.

2 key is only, but go to Internet Options > privacy and try a cookie of low value or accept all.

    3. from security on the IE command bar > InPrivate filtering settings, disable filtering.
Always safe > Filter SmartScreen > disable the SmartScreen filter.

4 disable third-party security programs (antivirus, antispyware, firewall, etc.) * just long enough * to test some links.

  • Windows XP Pro SP3 lost CDROM

Hello. Not sure if this is the right place for the post, but im pulling my hair out.

I got a copy of Windows XP PRO SP3 OEM for awhile. The installation disc is damaged and was unusable. I have a legitimate product key which is connected to the computer.

Is there anywhere I can buy or order a replacement CD-ROM.

I can't find a copy of this disc anywhere. On the COA, proof of license number is x 14-01711. I looked up and down and still no luck.

I got a Windows XP Pro SP3 .sdc, but the license key is not accepted during the installation.

  • Satellite A100 - no sound with Windows XP Pro SP3

    Hello

I'm the reconstruction of a laptop Toshiba A100-PSAA9A-10U038 with a new installation of Windows XP Pro SP3.

At this point, I have not all sounds (Yes, the volume is set to the top).

As this is my first post I covered I hope that most of the bases as with SP3 and I installed all the updates available from Toshiba and Microsoft - well at least, I guess I have. I downloaded the latest updates from Realtek who advised in a general forum but no luck.

Device Manager tells me that there are problems with a "PCI Device" and a "unknown device", and I assume that one of these two is the culprit.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Hi mate

I think that you have installed the driver of his evil.
    See this page:
    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/satellite/A100/psaa9a-10u038/download?OS=22

you will find all of the Win XP drivers for this model of laptop.
As you can see there are two different Realtek drivers:
    V Realtek Audio Driver 5.10.0.5253
    -Realtek ALC861 Audio Driver 5.10.0.5200

To my knowledge, you have the Realtek HD audio Manager.
But before install you the audio driver SP3 must be installed, it seems, that you did
However, the most recent audio Realtek driver can be downloaded from the Realtek page directly.
Select this check box, and then choose Manager Realtek HD audio for Win XP.

    Should work.
