Unable to connect to shares SMB a Mac, another Mac can connect normally

I have a Mac under El Capitan 10.11.2 who years connected easily and normally for a couple of SMB shares on my home LAN. Since arriving at El Capitan (fresh install, bare metal, not an upgrade) that Mac can no longer connect to these shares.

Another Mac that I (also executed 10.11.2) connects easily and normally these actions.

The 'Mac problem,' I completely blew my keychain so way aren't saved SMB credentials. Various tricks using cifs: / / or nsmb.conf a few settings do not work, either.

On this 'Mac problem' I'm never not even invited to the SMB credentials. I get a very "quick fail" and a pop-up that reads:

There was a problem connecting to the server "".

Check the server name or IP address, and then try again. If you continue to have problems, contact your system administrator.

I can also "Browse" and see the servers on my home LAN, but when I click on "connect as...". "I get the same non-credential, quick-failed.

I can connect to none of the user accounts on the 'Mac problem' - same failure mode for all user accounts.

It's a weird thing. Any tips?

I have an update with a bit more information.

I have when I try to install it via the command line...

$ mkdir/Volumes media

$ mount_smbfs //raspberrypi/media/volumes/medias

... I get the error message...

mount_smbfs: connection to the server has failed: operation not supported by device

When I try to climb through the user of Finder interface ('Browse' then ' Connect under... ") ") a single relevant line appear in newspapers, via the Console and All the Messages . This line is:

16/01/16 12:22:51.297 PM sharingd [309]: 12:22:51.296: SDSharePointBrowser::handleOpenCallBack returned 19

It's the biggest "stumper" I never treated on a Mac since 1986. I am a computer pretty talented guy. I see that other people have this problem (or variations) and I tried most if not all so-called 'remedies' and nothing has worked.

Again, my FIRST Mac can connect to all my SMB LAN House just actions. This 'Mac problem' was able to connect to these shares normally prior to my current installation of bare metal to El Capitan, 10.11.2.

  • Unable to connect to the network "\\localmachine\sharedname" share

I use VMware vCenter Converter Standalone client, v5.0.0 build-470252, running on a 64-bit Windows 7 computer, try to import a Windows 2008 computer virtual (hosted by VMWare infrastructure) on my local machine.

At the start of the converter, I have "connecting to a local server.

Specification of the source system is OK, even if I don't know the certificate error.  The conversion wizard installs his agent and it connects OK.

To the Destination System, I said:

Type of destination: VMware Workstation or other virtual machines to VMware
    Product VMware: VMware Workstation 8.0.x
    Information on the virtual machine:
Name: same as the source system, such as detected by the converter
Location for the virtual machine: \\localmachine\sharedfoldername
Username and password: my Windows 7 credentials, with full control over \\localmachine\sharedfoldername, the action and the underlying folder.

"When the converter checks the destination settings, it is reported: unable to connect to the network"\\localmachine\sharedfoldername"share

So far the measures of investigation:
-Connection to the share through Windows Explorer works fine; It is possible to write to the share

-J' tried specifying the share as '\\localhost\sharedfoldername', but get "the share specified network 'localhost\sharedfoldername' does not exist."  It was a bit of a long shot, I guess, but the form does not work in Windows Explorer.

-Have you tried with the file and print sharing both power - on and off seemed worth a try after looking at other posts on this forum

The help says 'If you are connected to a local Converter Standalone Server, providing a network path or a local path to the destination directory'.  I tried the local path "C:\Virtual Machines\sharedfoldername", but got the message "error: specified as a (local) drive Destination.»  "Please specify a UNC path such as: \\machine\sharename.

Aid also States "You have not to provide user credentials if the location is on the local storage of the machine where Converter Standalone server running."  However, the next button is always disabled until credentials are provided.

    Can anyone help please?

You must be able to access the \\localmachine\sharedname of the * SOURCE * machine. The job of conversions P2V of Windows is to install an agent on the source, then the agent connects to the target (this is why it must be on a network share) and transfers the data. You can browse \\localmachine\sharedname of the source (but not where the converter is installed)?

  • Unable to connect to the shares of the host, Windows XP

I cloned a VM XP base today.  The virtual machine was no shared folders enabled; I had problems with cloning of a machine with shared folders enabled, if I leave it on this virtual machine, that I keep around just to clone.

When I try to activate the shared folders on the new virtual machine, I got this error: "could not update performance file sharing status: a message header has been altered or has the version incorrect." and I am unable to connect to the new action.

I fixed the machine virtual and uninstalled and reinstalled extensions nothing doesn't.

    Any ideas what's happening?

Version of Workstation 7.1.0 host and the guest XP SP3, update today.

Hmm, I googled your error and did not find much.  Just some VIX-related stuff, which would be only bite you if you installed programs after the installation of VMware Workstation - of the 'old' VMware 'old' a programs may have installed obsolete libraries for automation of VIX.  Just after installing VMware Workstation/Player shouldn't cause a problem VIX.

Question, you try to enable the records while the prompt is already on?  If so, what happens if you stop the prompt, select the files and then put on the client?

  • Unable to connect

    Hi all

I have a Power Mac G3 (blue and white case), processor 400 MHz, 512 MB RAM, 120 GB HDD and currently running OS 9.2.2/OS X 10.4.11 and I am unable to connect to my user profile on OS X.

The problem started as a loop connection - I have entered my password only to be sent back to the login screen. Following the advice of another site, I deleted 'Preferences' of the user records and records of library system. The system now creates new folders, boots to the login screen, however to enter any letter on the keyboard results in the system locking up in a cursor tip / the "occupied" switches to the Rainbow ball and they're there - I can't do anything else but reset the system or put it to sleep with the power button

I've done everything I can think of to try and fix it - safe mode displays the same symptoms above, chatty start freezes with a bluescreen once started, fsck in single user mode says that the disk is ok, like the disk first aid under OS 9. I also tried to reconfigure the memory (one of the modules is problematic intermittently, but no problems do not appear with OS 9 (and have not been apparent in the past with OS X) when he's not working - I tried to remove all the modules problem but possible connection problem)

One thing I have not tried yet is to do a system repair / archive and install - my installation disc is an old version (10.4.1) which is currently installed - this would have an effect on the system in its current state with all my apps and folders present?

    Thank you very much

Are you sure that your keyboard does not work properly?

  • Unable to connect to home WiFi

Hello. Using a 2012 MacBook Pro runs El Capitan 10.11.4 and unable to connect to Wi Fi home exclusively. We had to Time Warner to get out. They gave us a new modem/router and update the connections/splitter in the basement. All our devices but my laptop can connect to the network. Our iPhones, light fires and Mac Book of wife anything can connect. The mine detects the network but cannot connect. However, I can connect my computer to other networks through my Verizon Wireless hot spot and even a 4 G LTE Kajeet hotspot unit I borrowed from the library. Any ideas what could be going wrong? I ran Wireless Diagnostics and nothing turns upward. The most frustrating part id my computer "thinks" it is online, because the Wifi symbol is obscured. But I'm not connected.

    Thank you.

If you run any utility, including but not limited to clean my Mac Mac Keeper, Little Snitch, Wireshark, firewalls, etc. you must remove according to developers on their Web sites. Simply by dragging to the trash uninstall these and not help. Also any Mac antivirus application should be withdrawn from the system according to developers, even slide into the basket is ineffective.

  • Tried all your suggestions and always receive "Unable to connect" when using ANY search engine.

Can't use any search engine of FF 40.0.3 on Macbook Pro model with 10.8.5 OS 9.2. Receive "Unable to connect" message when you try to use a search engine. Other than the search engine and Mozilla Web sites to connect properly. 40.0.3 on another Mac FireFox works fine without any problems.

In addition, I can not access the FF "Get modules" page or the home page of Mozilla. Search engines will connect not their home page or the search bar. Problem just started. I had previously been upgrade and have resorted, FF 40.0.3 without problem when it was issued. Solutions of attempts included refresh FF, launch FF in safe mode, run with all plugins disabled, graphics hardware acceleration disabled. None of these fixed the issue.

Had already tried your suggestions, without success, but has once again to be sure. Without success. However, I made a further exploration of my own and found out that IPv6 is set to "Link Local" only in my router. I have reset on 'Automatic', the router reset to update, and my problem was solved. So it was the IPv6 setting (unlikely) or the router reset (probably) that solved the problem, or it is your suggestions I tried and did not work, COMBINED with the router reset which solved the problem (quite possible).

    Thanks for the comments!

  • Suddenly 39.0 FF is "unable to connect" to any web page

I use almost identical installations of 39.0 FF on both computers Windows 7 Pro. On computer 1, for the last two hours, I got "unable to connect" on each URL I tried. It can access things stored locally, such as troubleshooting information. FF on computer 2 is fine, and Chrome and IE work fine on computer 1.

The problem started watching a movie on Netflix streaming on computer 1. The image suddenly froze and the speakers emitted a wicked repetitive noise - maybe it was 2 seconds of the movie soundtrack play again and again. Commands from the computer totally locked up. I kept only the noise of voltage with power button on the computer. I restarted the computer in safe mode, and then it restarted in normal mode. Now, everything on the computer seems fine - except Firefox.

I tried to restart FF in safe mode; same problem in the corresponding mode. I saved copies of information for troubleshooting in safe and regular mode, and a copy of the submitted crash reports also list. I'll share these if you tell me how. (Can't do it with the button "Share data", of course, because I can't go to this form to ask a question on computer 1 - I am posting this to computer 2)

The only thing I have not tried is "Refresh Firefox". I'd really rather not do that, because it will scan all my modules and customizations.

Would appreciate any help you can offer.

Start the computer in Mode safe mode with network support Windows (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test.

    ....
You can check problems caused by malware.

Make a check of malware with several malware scanning of programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.
All of these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

Alternatively, you can write a check for an infection rootkit TDSSKiller.

  • Unable to connect to Apple ID after upgrade to ElCapitan 10.11.5

    I have the Macbook Air 11 "1.4 Ghz i5 with 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 (early 2014)

I can't connect to the Apple ID (iCloud, Appstore...) after upgrade in ElCapitan 10.11.5

About 3 weeks ago I improve my OS in ElCapitan as there was a signal of the Appstore upgrade.

The download process and the installation was successful, but stuck on 'prepare your mac' session. It took about 2 hours, with cursor processing... Then I closed (push the power button on the keyboard) and turn.

My Mac can work and in "about this Mac" already made it known that the OS is ElCapitan 10.11.5.

But unfortunately, since then, I can't sign my Apple ID in the Mac (I use several apple 'iphone', 'ipad' products and my apple ID still works)

I came to the nearby authorized Apple service, they don't have that one solution to re - install my Mac and I have to pay

    Maybe someone has a solution...

    Hi atiqurrakhman,

From the information provided, it appears that you are unable to connect to your Apple ID for several services on your Mac from your update of OS X El Capitan 10.11.5. I know it's very important to have access to these services on your Mac, then I would be happy to provide assistance.

Before you start, I recommend that you create a backup of your data using Time Machine. This website will provide more information:

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support

Since the update seems stuck, it can not been installed properly on your system. The next step, I would recommend that you reinstall OS X from recovery using the steps here:

How to reinstall OS X on your Mac - Apple Support

    Reinstall OS X from recovery

If a recent Mac, you can use OS X Recovery to reinstall OS X.

    1. Turn on your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the command and R on your keyboard.
    3. Release the buttons after the appearance of the Apple logo.
    4. If you are prompted, select a Wi - Fi network, or connect your Mac to the Internet via an Ethernet cable.
    5. After that the recovery menu will appear, select the option to install OS X.
    6. Follow the prompts on the screen to select your destination drive and install OS X.

Once this process is complete, try to sign in with your Apple ID using multiple services to see if the problem has been resolved.

Have a great rest of your day!
