Unable to connect to the internet through Firefox or Chrome, but Internet Explorer works fine - what's up?

Ping-works - I can get to google - but both Chrome and Firefox will not - connect I can't even download the Mozilla or Google code to reinstall BUT Internet Explorer (which I don't like) works very well

Any ideas - just started to happen yesterday after years of use of Firefox and Chrome - what has changed in the last 24 hours - I have reset the router and have not installed new software.

Internet (50mbps) Time Warner installed high-speed yesterday on my computer, but when the guy left I noticed that the speed was very slow. SIS one test on speedtest.net and found I was getting a maximum of 1.35mbps (sometimes as low as .62mbps). So I had them come back and they tried all kinds of things, only to discover Internet Explorer gets 50mbps, so it's something with Foxfire. What would it be?

Hello, when you use speedtest.net or a similar site based on flash to measure your connection speed, it could be a problem with the protected mode that adobe has implemented for its flash plugin for firefox. Some older versions of f-secure or report of trusteer are known to cause slowdowns with flash, or it could be something similar on your system that interferes (maybe security software that block/sandbox the container used for protected mode, etc...).

as a solution, you could try downgrading of 10.3 flash (which is always supported) or Disable protected mode & see if that makes a difference.

  • Unable to connect to the internet update version

I've updated to the latest version 35, but since then, the browser seems unable to connect to the internet. I thought it was my firewall that was blocking the program. I did what was suggested to work around this problem, that is, to remove my firewall and then add it again. But it does not solve the problem. There is nothing wrong with my internet, how am I be able to connect to internet by using IE or Chrome. And I was able to connect to the internet in the previous version of Firefox. Unfortunately, the new updated version is not allow me to. Have no solution?

It is possible that your security (firewall, antivirus) software blocks or limit Firefox or the process of plugin-container without you inform, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

  • Unable to connect to the Internet via a Linksys Wireless card

I used a Linksys BEFW11S4 for several years with no problems.  A PC is connected via a network cable and the other (Dell laptop) used a wireless adapter Linksys that plugged into the laptop (model of Linksys WPC11 ver (4).  All my computers using Windows XP with the latest service packs.

I plugged the Dell laptop to the router via a cable to transfer files faster than the network B.  Then, when I disconnected the cable and reconnected the wireless card, I was unable to use the Wi - Fi connection to connect to the internet.  Wired works very well, is not wireless.

Windows reports a good wireless connection to the router, but the machine is unable to connect to the internet using the wireless card.  It can connect to the internet when using a network cable, however.

Pings what either using the Wi - Fi connection failed (expired).

I used another laptop (a more recent Toshiba with a wireless card built-in) to connect to the router and it works very well with the connectivity wired or wireless.  No problem switching back with this machine.  So, the problem is not with the router or the router configuration.

I was through the forums and seen a LOT of people seems to have the same problem with these Wireless Linksys routers.

I tried to use the Easy Link software to configure the machine, but: (1) Linksys updated web site is not valid, and (2) with the www.linksysfix.com/ela site that directs users to the software is also invalid.  Linksys technical support seems to be lacking.

I went to the usual network setup menus and two laptops seem to be configured the same way, again, we're working wireless and we do not.

I would appreciate solutions others have tried and who has worked with this problem.

I reinstalled the drivers for the Linksys card and it does not work.  Windows recognizes the new hardware card, reports that it is connected to the router, but still no internet connection

  • Can connect to the server (although very slowly) but unable to connect to the internet

    Original title: network connectivity

I have a user who has been connected to the internet through our SBS server.  All of a sudden, it can connect to the server (although very slowly) but unable to connect to the internet.  The network and sharing shows that it is connected to a public network not by the domain server.

I hooked another computer for network wiring and it worked fine.  I changed the wiring, and it still doesn't work.

    Any ideas?

  • Unable to connect to the internet after the removal of important processes in the task bar

I am not very tech-savvy then let me explain.

I have a laptop Lenovo I recently bought in August 2014.  A friend suggested that I have download the free application "Open Office" in line, so I could open a school power point.  Open Office gave me a handful of viruses, which I managed to delete, then having served the system well, panic I accidentally opened the Task Manager and deleted a bunch of processes that are running.

Now, I find that, although I am connected to WiFi, I can't open Internet.  I click on Firefox, but it shows that I am unable to connect to the Internet.

I have Windows 8; an easy way I can solve this problem?

    Thank you.

Original title: I accidentally turned off the program that allows my computer to connect to the Internet

    Hi Tunasushiroll,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem.

The problem can occur for various reasons, including incorrect TCP/IP settings configured, firewalls third of anti-virus programs blocking the connection, or due to bad the advanced sharing settings. So, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if you system is able to detect the wireless network.

    Method 1:

Run the troubleshooter network first, and then test your Internet connection.

Open the Network Troubleshooter by hitting on any fly in the Dashboard screen, quilting Search(or if you use a mouse, pointing to the top right of the screen, move the mouse down and then clicking search), entering the network troubleshooterin the search box, type, or by clicking settingsand then by typing or clicking on identify and fix network problems.

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 2:

Second of all, please check if the WLAN service is started and set to automatic. If it is stopped, then I suggest you to start the service and set it to automatic.

    1. Press the Windows key + R, type services.msc in the Run dialog box and press ENTER.
    2. Select the Autoconfiguration WLAN service in the list and double-click it.
    3. Change the startup to Automatic type, then click Start to start the service.
    4. Click apply and then click OK.
    5. Restart the computer and verify if the network is detected. If this is not the case, go to method 3.

    Method 3:

Reset the DNS and TCP/IP settings.

    1. Press the Windows key + X, click prompt (Admin).
    2. Please enter the following commands and press ENTER after each one.

      netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
      netsh winsock reset
      ipconfig/registerdns
      ipconfig/flushdns
      ipconfig/release

    3. Restart the computer to check the issue.

Check if the system is able to detect the network. If this is not the case, go to method 4.

    Method 4:
Temporarily disable the security software (if any), and check if it helps.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

I have a problem - unable to connect to the Internet.

First of all, I try to use internet DSL from phone, there was no result.

Then I try to use digital TV internet - no result.

Laptop does not detect a network, it says - undefined network.

My firewall is active, now I use a modem to laptop...

Sorry, but I don't understand how you have configured your DSL router/modem.

First of all, you need to configure the router and need to insert all the data from your ISP (Internet service provider).
Usually the model or DSL with router assigns the IP address. Therefore, only connect your LAN cable to the LAN books and you should get a connection to the DSL router/modem.

I think that in most cases the whole process is described in the manual of the router
