Unable to defragment it always says that to run Chkdsk. / f.

AS above my email * address email is removed from the privacy *

Click Start, then click Run, and then type the following in the "Open" box and then click OK

Chkdsk /f

Don't forget the space after chkdsk

A black command prompt window will open and display the following message is displayed:

The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock the current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process.  You want to schedule this volume to be
check the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

Type Y and press the Enter key

Restart the computer.

When chkdsk is complete, Windows will start.  You should then be able to run the Defragmenter.
