Unable to format disk E

Hello
I have windows xp and the hard drive contains two drives c: and e: (yes I have I do not know why he is not D)
Anyway, I tried to format d from ms - dos in windows and I got this message:

Format cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. format may run if this volume is dismounted first.  ALL HANDLES OPEN TO THIS VOLUME IS NOT VALID.  hold force a disassembly on this volume (y/n)

I selected Yes and then I got this message
Landed volume.  All handles opened to this volume are now invalid.

then the process of formatting is correct...

NOW I want to understand why have I not this message, what is the meaning of disassembling and open handles etc.  is it a virus or what? can someone explain to me, I searched on the net, but did not understand

Hello

You shouldn't have anything to worry about with this message, and this is certianly not a virus. Basically that means that a file in this player has been used by a program when you have formatted the drive. Thus, in order to continue with the format, you must have 'down' of this program, as well as all the others, so that all the files in this player were not in use. Thus, for example, if you have a Word document open at the same time as you tried to format the drive, this message and you wouldn't be able to keep you 'dismantled' of the word, meaning that Word would have more access to this file until the formatting was complete.

So unless you are having other problems with performance since the formatting, I'd have nothing to worry.

  • Sansa E280 unable to Format disk. Need HELP!

    Hey ho Sansa users,.

So! Here's my dilemma. I got my Sansa for 2 1/2 years. So far, no problem. Recently even though I was starting to have some funky things happening, the noise turning randomly on its own or the song randomly jumping, not much, only occurred once in a blue moon. Now that about a couple of weeks, for some reason strange, downloaded other titles on my drive, as usual and after playing a few times very well, they began to get damaged. Aka. The sound would be cut in the headphones, and then slowly back through static, or the song would stop playing altogether and there would be a mermaid acute start sounding in my helmet. I had some problems with my Sansa before and the guy I spoke to said to format the hard drive. So, I tried to format the hard drive, but it says unable to complete the format. In addition, for some reason that disk space is showing the player as being empty, but when I look in the hard drive (in browser windows) there is always as 50 active files that I deleted (or tried to remove) like 7 times and each time that they keep reappearing. I updated my firmware, but it still doesn't seem to work or I want to erase the disc.

    Thoughts?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Unable to format disk CD - RW on portable Satellite series

I'm trying to format a lot of CD - RW discs.
Laptop seems almost to complete the formatting, but a possible icon will appear to indicate that Windows could not perform formatting the drive.

Any suggestion would be a help, and also to explain why I was able to format a standard CD - R disc without problem.

    Hello

First of all I would like to know what model of laptop you have and I would like to know how you tried to format CD - RW?

Have you used a tool like Nero Burning ROM third 3rd?

I use Nero and this software provides an option to format a CD - RW disc.

  • PowerMac G3, 9.2.2, and inability to format disks/diskettes

So rather a strange question, but I have been unable to locate any information about any similar problem to what I saw. Currently have met a Performa 6200 CD and a Powermac G3 266 Mhz. My main problem is with the Powermac, and that it will not recognize or format disks (floppy and CD).

If a disk with some data on it (Mac and PC format and all two accepted on the Performa), it gives only a message to initialize the disc and only Mac 800 K or BACK 800 k. However, an attempt to initialize the disk results in a clerical error and fails. The same error occurs when it is given to a blank CD, including the pop - up application initialization in the PC format, but fails every time. Disk utility ran and not errors in the system, so not sure on what could be the problem.

Any help to solve this is appreciated. I am trying to recover data from floppy disks to backup my Mac SE (definitely failed SCSI drive), but while I can access most data on the Performa, only G3 gives the opportunity for me to move the files from Mac disks only to other CD/USB/Ethernet media.

You do not "format" dtive optical media using the OS disk utility.

For the CD, you will need to find a burning software that is compatible with the old Mac OS, as a version of olde of Roxio Toast that will run on Mac OS 9.2.2 for formatting and burning a disc with you setup to transfer data and burned to a disc.

Search for Roxio Toast 5 this could work as its requirements are Mac OS 8.6 or later.

    https://www.Amazon.com/Roxio-Toast-Titanium-old-version/DP/B00005AW1G/ref=sr_1_1? ie = UTF8 & qid = 1470460272 & sr = 8-1 & keywords =...

I don't think that any old version of MacOS had all abilty to burn discs in native mode. You need hardwarw/software of third parties to achieve this.

I also believe, the CD drive is a CD-ROM drive and has no way to record on a disc.

So you have to find/purchase/use an external, compatible player/CD burner in any case.

In addition, referring to CDs, first Macs and early PowerMac that had integrated CD players could only read and use optical discs of 650 MB size and these discs had to be the r/RW type. These first Macs were unable to recognize the later 700 MB size CD - R /-RW.

I'm not sure of your disk problem. There may be simply that the floppy drive has a problem with his read/write head that prevents the diskettes to be read or written on properly.

There used to be floppy drive cleaning discs that could clean up the read/write heads, but I don't know if these are available any longer or if that resolve the problems with your floppy drive or not.

I found a bunch of floppy drive different kits on Amazon of cleaning.

So, check out this possibility, as well.

  • Portege R100: 4GB SD card works very slowly-> unable to format

Laptop works fine, no problem when using 1 GB SD card. What SD 4 GB inserted PC card works very slowly. Finally, I am able to run the software Toshiba Format SD memory card (download the latest version). It does not seem to recognize the card of 4 GB. Unable to format. When later tried with 1 GB card, everything works fine.

If someone was able to get a 4 GB SD card?

I'm not sure if the laptop software needs a patch, or if the 4 GB card is not fully compatible with SD cards standards, however it was purchased from reputable suppliers.

    Hello

I think that it s nothing wrong with the software, but the SD card is simply not compatible 100%.
In recent times, the SD card sizes are rising rapidly.
I think that the card reader and the software were not intended to manage this big SD card like this.

How to buy an external SD card reader?
These devices are not very expensive and I think the new generation should be able to also handle 4 GB SD cards.

    thnx in advance.

    Hello

Try to use the Flash Drives on other computers to see if they are working, or can be formatted. When a USB
disk has failed and cannot be accepted, then it cannot be formatted.

  • Unable to save (disk quota exceeded) livestream

I use the edition of FMS 4.5 development and trying to get the work of HLS. Everytime I try to publish a stream of OUT, I get the message:

    F4F:Livestream - NetStream.Record.DiskQuotaExceeded

in the instance of the application livepkgr and

Unable to save (disk quota exceeded) livestream.

    in the server log.

I realize there are limits on the development edition (10 minutes of iOS streaming), however usually these limitations restart when the server is reset.  I restarted the instance of the application and the server itself, manually start and stop the service, and I always get this error when I have everything first connect and try to publish the stream right after rebooting a server. I reset the server several times without success.

The recording in the application.xml settings are all defined on the default values (-1 by no maximum rate).

Unfortunately I was never able to get it still works so I am not ambitious enough to start testing on production servers.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you!

The error you are getting is because your previous f4f recording still exists. If you delete record (livepkgr/streams/_definst_/livestream) f4f, restart the instance as you do and you should be fine. Restart from the custom of the FMS has no effect because it does not automatically delete your existing record. So before starting to publish, clean your previous record.

Also, the limit must be 30 minutes for the development server - I don't know why you're wrong it is because the link:http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/helpmechoose.html it shows only 10 minutes (I'll check with the Manager of the right person for this page get this corrected)

Let me know if you still face problems.

  • Unable to format hard drive for Windows

Hello, I need your help here! You receive the same error message saying: "Windows is unable to complete the format" when you try to format an external hard drive on your computer? Honestly, the hard drive of my dell computer recently asked just to get in shape when it has been used on my Windows 7 computer. However, when I click on Yes to format this drive with my lost player documents and files, windows says just windows could not complete for formatting? Honestly, I used Google to search for the error problems related unable to complete the format windows and also asks me to select a formatting program? What you recommend me? This software is useful for my case? Thanks for any suggestions here!

    Hello

If you have a mac, you can use a utility called disk pre-installed program. Connect your external DRIVE for mac drive and find an application called disk utility, in disk utility, there should be an option to erase the external HARD drive. It may come with an error similar to what you had before, but it's certainly worth a try. Let me know if this worked for you.

    Thank you

  • Backup and restore will not format disk

I try to use Backup and Restore. When I click on the back of the files, I get a pop-up box that asks me to format the drive. I was unable to find anything on it. Has anyone else had this problem? What I can do. I check all the settings I can. Thanks for any help.

Would you consider investing in an external USB drive and use it as your backup media.  This will work part-time full support until CD as the only hold about 700 MB of data and your hard drive is perhaps in a fit of 250 GB, what amounts to a large number of CD on current prices an external drive will pay for itself within a very short time and you are mucking around with several CD

He needs that a defective CD or an unexpected shutdown to occur and you may lose all your backup met before this type of failure.  If you must use the CD then just use them to backup your important data.  If you need to perform a full restore, it may be faster in the long term to perform a recovery operation by using your installation media rather than feeding in a multitude of CD.

One thing that I met, if you buy the CD on the main roads, is that, if they are not stored properly, at home or in a store, the last few CD inside tend to stick to the neighbor CD, which is not a good thing.

My personal choice is to use a third-party imaging software to back up the entire partition or drive.  I save on a different hard drive installed.  You can use the external hard drive, I tried to sell you.  The entire backup (40 GB) takes about 10 minutes, with a restoration taking around the same time.  I double save my data more valuable, as well, of other external media, like USB, DVD, etc.
