Unable to get back on two monitors

Properties display doesn't offer more to the second monitor.  If it works fine until I had to restart from scratch.  All all downloaded, updated.  What is on.  It is not the same display properties window that I had before.  Help.

Hello Lorraine

You need to download the latest drivers for your video card, but also any utility software, related to the video card. Once you have downloaded, you can activate the second monitor to the breast or the utility for the video card or by using the display properties in Windows XP. If you have any questions or need assistance please let me know. Thank you.

  • W7Pro - disabled updates a year, now there is unable to get back them

Yuh, my wife turned off updates to MS a year ago - they would be still listed but not completed, after I had some major problems with the updates on my PC.

The last index update is from March. There are a total of 86 listed updates. But when I chose some to install-it fails to download. He tried, but never gets beyond 0% download. I had it running for at least half an hour. I also tried to look for new updates - same result.

I then ran the Fixit program but still no luck.

    Any suggestions?

Install all the missing listed in the table above this page manually in advance:

  • HP Pavilion Elite HPE-510 t - two monitors?

    Hello forum!

For work I'll put up a brand new, out-of-the-box, desktop Pavilion Elite HPE - 510 t series, and I'm supposed to put up with two monitors. The monitors are both monitors HP 21 "(not sure model number, but pretty sure this info is irrelevant.) Both monitors have a DVI and a VGA output each.

The problem is... I don't know if the computer can get out to two monitors. I mean, I think it can its such a new computer and the plug about it being very respectable. But at the back of the system, the only entries that I see are:

    1 HDMI

    1 DVI

assortment of 6 audio inputs (speaker, microphone, etc.).

    1 Ethernet

    4 USB PORTS

    and something audio optical

But there is also what appears to be two locations that are "closed" for lack of another word. One is what appears to be a DVI input but with a screwed in black plastic piece. I guess I should remove the plastic and it would be an another DVI but on the plastic was the words "DO NOT REMOVE" so I left alone. The other location is what seems to be a HDMI slot with a black piece of plastic glued to the front.

The computer is capable of ouputting to two monitors?

    and

    What are those waterproof slots?

Good luck with your responses and thanks in advance,

There's a HMDI.  Use a HMDI on DVI connector.  Not very expensive.  Make sure you have the right sex on each end or cable/connector.  See the Big Dave det-related article it upward.

  • Unpredictable behavior with Dell Ultrasharp U2415 two monitors

Since I created my two Dell U2415 monitor, I had sporadic problems with one or two of them are not recognized. I have a system Windows 10 T1700 Dell Precision with two monitors. This is the first time I've ever owned monitors that use Mini DisplayPort technology. The problems are:

    1. I would like to turn the monitor OFF the end of the day, because I don't like the brightness of the light emitted by the power buttons when not in service.  But it seems that turn off the monitors always brings problems when I return to the computer the next day. For example, if I turn off the monitors, the next time I turn everything back on, 1 single monitor is recognized. Sometimes, it's the one on the right, and sometimes it's the only one on the left. The other monitor has power, but no entry is recognized and it just says: "Entering Standby Mode" or something like that, and there is no display.  When this happens, there is no 2nd monitor when I go into the control panel display settings. It's as if the monitor is not plugged. I have to restart my PC again (this time, ensuring that both screens are turned on at the time where it restarts), who sometimes feel to come back on two monitors.

    2. on Monday, I'm alerted me to an update of the software Dell Display Manager, so I installed the update. At the end of the day, I've upgraded my PC sleep (leaving turned on monitor). When I came back in the morning, the PC wake acknowledging only 1 monitor. I had to go to the display settings for Windows 10 and extend to the 2nd monitor (why I am able to do it again)?

Why are these things so delicate?  Is there a specific order in which everything must be turned off and turn it back on so that both monitors will be recognized correctly? Should I wait until my PC is off to turn off the monitors? I turn on the PC BEFORE monitors (or vice versa)? I have to turn on the primary monitor BEFORE the secondary monitor (or vice versa)? There seems to be some magic to all this and I would like to understand exactly what is happening. I want to be able to turn off monitors whenever I like and feel confident that the two be recognized when I've turn them back on. At this point, I'm leaving the power to monitor all the time because of the many problems I had and because I simply do not trust them.

    Thank you

For the computer to identify a DP/CDM monitors, the monitors must be first, and then the computer graphic card reaches out to monitor DP/CDM opening handshake. Any changes to this order will disrupt the handshake. A computer hibernate or sleep modes tend to confuse the DP/CDM handshake. So I don't use them at all.

  • Do I have reason to infer that I can't get two monitors running on my HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 410 t?

I got the Pavilion Elite HPE - 410 t with the included nVidia GeForce 315 graphics card and tried to get two monitors put in place. I have two VGA screens and I run one of them off the coast of DVI using a VGA port to DVI, and it works fine. However, I can not all signals from the built-in VGA port, so I started to look around the site of HP. I came across a page that lists the motherboard Plug and he shouted that the embedded video is not available if a graphics card is installed.

Thus, it seems that I am out of luck, but I just wanted to see if anyone could tell me if it is maybe something obvious that I'm missing. My nVidia monitors also has an HDMI port, but I understand that I would need a HDMI monitor to be able to use this port.

Can someone let me know if I'm wrong in my understanding of my options, or if there is an easy solution?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Yes, you are right to assume that if you have a video card installed, the integrated graphics chip is disabled.  Looking at the specifications of your card (see link below), he suggests that it has a VGA, DVI and HDMI connection.  However, I realize that these specifications vary and may not apply to the card that you have.

    NVIDIA GeForce 315

If yours doesn't have the VGA adapter, then your also had reason to assume need you a monitor with an entry in order to use 2 monitors HDMI.

    Kind regards

  • Two monitors, prompting connected and trying to get to work

My friend and I try to connect two monitors on his desk and we have the computer connected properly, but the screen is not any kind of signal to the computer (it won't turn on, just has a black screen or say in power saving mode). The main monitor works (of course, as l write this) it connects to the NVIDIA DVI (a video card installed) card, and the second monitor is a VGA. The second monitor we want to plug that we want to use on the OLD card came with the computer video, and we have the ports for it. However we are unable to operate, and it is quite frustrating. We have tried to update the software, but we think he may have disabled the second video card without meaning to, and we know many things at this point:
1 can I use two monitors to two different computers and use them to do different things (for example use it to surf the two different sites with two different keyboards/mouse, or play two different games (our intention is to play WoW the computer off) in this way)?
1a. If Yes, can someone please a link to a site that would be easier to read and understand? (We were already posted some, but they are confused or just say the same things and do not work)
    2. how to reactivate the video card should it be disabled? Once again, the simple steps please.
    3. can we use two separate video cards to run two different items on the computer, or would both forced to run out of the video one card?
    3. If so, is there someone who can explain how to bind a monitor with a video card and not the other?

    Hi warpedchocobo,

Windows detects and identifies each monitor and projector that you connect, and applies the video settings that are best suited to each display. When you connect an additional monitor for the first time, you can choose how you want your desktop to appear on the screen. In addition, Windows collects information about the video capabilities of the additional screen, including the size of the screen, the screen resolution and the color depth.

On Windows Vista, older XPDM drivers still work and the behavior of multi-monitor with XPDM drivers has not changed, because the operating system uses the existing graphics stack.

However, the Display Driver Model WDDM (Windows Vista) brings fundamental changes to the management of several graphics cards and external displays. This includes a new restriction, because WDDM drivers do not support multi-monitor «multicard and heterogeneous» implementations

  • How can I get two jobs when using two monitors, instead of stretching a desktop on both screens?

    Hello!

How can I get two jobs when using two monitors, instead of stretching a desktop on both screens? I n ' want to clone my office, and I don't want to stretch it. I want two desktop computers, where I can "send/give" to the other desktop programs.

I need a third party program? It is very good. If you know one please tell me about it.

    Hi OskarKvist,

This feature is not supported by Windows XP.

However, you can use your favorite search engine to download any third-party software that could serve the purpose.

Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • Laptop with docking home & two monitors... need to get laptop to work after the withdrawal of the docking station

It drives me crazy.  I have a work Dell laptop connected to a station host and two double monitors. It works very well at the office that I work mainly on two large dual screens.  When I remove the laptop from the docking station and bring home the computer starts and displays a portion of my homescreen (like an extended display).  But I can't do anything else with it. I can't access my files or anything.

What I want to do now that I'm home with my laptop is to redo the settings so that the laptop is my main screen.  The normal methods of right click and change the screen resolution do not work because I can't access my Windows start tab.  Any ideas...

    Thank you.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to determine the root cause of the problem.

    1. What is the number and model of your computer and the graphics card?

    2. Have you tried to monitor primary as secondary and vice versa?

    3. All device drivers are updated?

Windows can detect automatically that an additional screen. If you connect two or more monitors, you must manually designate the primary display, arrange your desktop, and apply display settings, such as color depth and screen resolution. So, the next time that you connect these monitors, Windows automatically identifies the primary display and applies the settings that you previously specified for each additional display.

Try the methods mentioned below and see if it helps.

    Method 1

If you haven't tried Exchange monitors so I suggest you to try and see if the problem still occurs.

To change the settings of two monitors you can consult the links below:

Note: This link is also applicable for Windows 7 .

    Method 2

If the problem persists I suggest you to update the display drivers. As the display drivers for two monitors are not the same, so try to update and check the status.

  • Unable to get the maximum screen resolution when you use the external monitor

    Hello

I use Windows 8 on laptop ASUS K55A. I use an external monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 2233BW). Everything works fine except that I do not get the maximum resolution on the external display. The only way I see a sort of an overview of the good resolution is when I choose "extend these screens", but it's very uncomfortable when there's always one screen, I don't actually see.
How can I increase the resolution of the screen on the external screen? (now, it's on 'show desktop only on 2')
    Thank you!
I use Windows 8 on laptop ASUS K55A.

So first a Bing search finds that ASUS K55A probably has the chip Intel HD 4000
