Unable to get online with new router-"Local access".

Original title: can't get online with new router.

I'm having a lot of trouble to get online with my laptop.

My roommate has recently got a new EE Brightbox. It works perfectly well with his laptop and mobile phone. Also works with my mobile phone. However, when I try to use my laptop it only gives me "Local access". I have no problem connecting to the router, but it just won't let me go online.

Tried to disconnect/reconnect the connection Wireless on laptop from scratch with wired connection to router, router and router reset re-booting. None of them have worked.

Any help would be great?

Laptop works on Vista.

My old WRT54G died a few days ago.  I replaced it with a WRT54GL which was the closest match.  Since the installation of the new router I can sail is no longer on my network. I set up the new router with LELA according to the suggested guidelines.  Might that have changed something?  All machines can go on the internet and I can ping all the machines through the command line, but when I try to look at the Working Group in the place of my network window I get an error message that says:

"Workgroup not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.  The network path was not found. »

When I run net view command in the command line which also translates into an error.

When I hang on machines with a cable crossover, everything works fine, so I assume there are a few settings in the new router that prevents the list of course work.  Here is what I tried:

Disabled the firewall on local computers and the router - makes no difference

Ensured that all machines are in the same workgroup - they are

Because the browser service and peer network services are running - they are

Ensured that all the machines are on the same subnet - they are because they can ping each other

Now here's something really strange.  When I rename the Working Group on all machines, they can see each other.  Once I have switch back to the name "workgroup" they can't see each other any longer and I get the error message.

I run a small business and need to share files often enough.  I'd like to be able to get a NAS server, but I can't find any of it will work with ALL my machines.  Most of my machines running Vista at this stage, but a few are still XP Pro. One of my machines is XP Pro and cannot run SP2 which prevents execution on it a lot of new software and devices.  This is why I really need to get my file sharing ability back.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I solved the problem and I wanted to post it in case someone else has the same problem.  One of the machines use a Linksys WGA600N Dual Band Gaming adapter, as is the wireless card. Technically this makes a bridge.  I needed to restart.  That solved my problem.

  • Updates of windows installed and now unable to get online with the Explorer.

I am running windows vista and installed updates and now cannot get online.  I tried to run the system restore, but that did not help.  This happened once before when the only web sites that I could access were secure web sites, I have changed the security settings and that fixes the problem.  Nothing works for now.

I'll get more info from my computer at home tonight and add to that tomorrow.

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

If not help to tweak the parameters of your third-party firewall, try the following:

    1. disable your antivirus, all modules of Norton (as applicable), a real-time protection provided by an anti-spyware application (with the exception of Windows Defender; includes the Tea Timer of Spybot, AVG AS guard.exe, SpySweeper guards, etc.), disable the third-party firewall AND THEN select Windows Firewall.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) except #4 below until your antivirus application has been reactivated!  If you use a free ZA firewall, you may need to uninstall instead of disable.

2 uninstall 'update Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 7 (or 8) for Vista (KB976325)' or "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB976325)" via start | Control Panel | The Maintenance and the system (if you use Classic view, skip this step). Windows Update | Installed updates day & reboot.

4 manually run Windows Update and install important updates available (i.e. KB976325).

5 reboot & make sure everything in #1 above is on again and, if necessary, disable the Windows Firewall and enable (or reinstalling) your third-party firewall.

  • After trying to network my computers, I am unable to get online with them.

I am running Windows Vista.  I tried in my office network, and 2 separate laptops and do not know what I did wrong.  I can access Internet from my office, but can no longer access the Internet wirelessly from a laptop.  Is it possible to remove the wireless networks currently install and start over?  I have a Linksys router.  Everything worked fine until I tried to network, now, just trying to get back where it was originally so I can connect by wireless.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    original title: wireless connection problem

You may need to check the settings of the router. Sometimes the wireless router is setup by default to block physically connected devices who are wireless. You can add manually wireless networks if go to control panel-> Network Center control and sharing Center-> manage wireless networks to remove manually and add the network back. But you can generally if you analyze wireless networks it automatically detect security settings and you just have to type the password again.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8100: unable to operate a printer wireless with new router

The HP Officejet Pro 8000 has worked successfully for a year on a home network with 3 computers wireless using an internet ATT Uverse router.  The router was changed to another new router with a different network name and the WiFi password ATT Wireless and the printer does not work wireless. The printer does not work dedicated to a single computer with a USB cable.

Should I download and reinstall a new driver?

  • HP L7680 - display offline with new router Xfinity

We recently changed to a gateway router Xfinity and our Officejet L7680 is connected via an ethernet cable to the new router.  However, the printer is showing offline on computers that are connected to the wireless network.

The Xfinity settings gateway shows the printer as a device connected when I connect and the printer settings (accessible via IP address) show that it is online.  But when I try to print something it says the printer is offline.

We use macs (1 x MacBook Pro running 10.9 and 1 x Pro Mac running 10.6).  Both have the same problem.

I tried all power and turn it back on.

I tried to delete the printer installed on the Mac and again add a new printer, but is no longer appears in the list.  I tried adding them as an IP address, but the printer does not print correctly (spit the code).

Any ideas - it drives me crazy?

    Thank you

    Thanks for your help, Cheetah12.

    I finally found the solution!

The PC connected via a cable ethernet print very well, like the Windows laptop connected via Wi - Fi, so I thought it was a problem with the fact that I was using Mac.

I uninstalled the printer and then reinstalled driver as the use of PPIS and the IP address of the printer.

So far, it seems to work!

    Thanks again.

  • Unable to connect to my new router cable, my XP and Windows 7 machines

Vista, wireless router Netgear, no link, please help

No matter what I try, I can't connect to my new router cable, my XP and Windows 7 machines work fine but the Vista laptop are it. Have searched the web, looked at this site and the forums, but nothing does not jump and helps me solve the problem. I use a HP Pavilion DV9000 laptop, all service packs updates and so forth... any ideas?

I suggest that you contact your ISP and get their help in setting up the Vista machine so it connects properly.  They know the right settings for the access provider, while we do not have and that there may be something else you need to do with Vista which is different of the other two systems (and hopefullly the ISP will also know and be able to talk you through the process).  I call my ISP all the time and they are VERY useful and have ALWAYS resolved any problems, I called (even if sometimes he had a visit from a technician).

If the ISP Can ' t/don't/can't help you, then after coming back here and we'll try to go through it step by step, even if we cannot have all the information we need.  But I am sure that they will be able to help you more quickly and more effectively and with greater chances of success.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • I make the internet experience of the problems of connection - unable to get online

original title: I have internet connection problems

When I turn on my pc, it takes a long time to connect to the network, however when I'm finally connected. I still can't get online, I have to unplug and re - plug my Ethernet cable from my router, or go in network card, enable and then disable it (although sometimes it works on the other hand, for example I turn off and then turn it on). What do you think could be the cause of these problems?

    Hello

I suggest to start the computer in Mode safe mode with network and check whether you are faced with the same question. If the problem does not occur in Mode safe mode with networking you perform the clean boot to find what service or startup item is causing the problem.

    Step 1:
Start the computer using safe mode with networking.

    (a) remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer.
    (b) If your computer has an operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts.
    (c) you need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears.
    (d) if the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutdown and restart your computer.
    (e) in the display Advanced Startup Options, use the arrow keys to Select the safe mode with network option, and then press enter.
    (f) log your computer with a user with the administrator of rights account.

    Reference: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

    Step 2:
If the issue happen not in Mode safe mode with networking, try to set up your computer in a clean boot state and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

    I hope this information helps!

  • Wireless configuration of HP C4780 with new router and Mac (wireless network not found)

About 10 months ago, I bought a new router. I already had several problems connecting my HP C4780 to my old router, and after setting up the new router, I was totally unable to connect the printer wireless to my router.

I have reset the system to the printer on my Mac, I have reset the settings on my printer wireless, I downloaded the latest HP software, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the HP software several times and I have had no success. When running through the Setup Wizard, I was able to select the printer and method (wireless network set up by USB) before plugging the USB key. After that, the Setup Wizard says "Device not connected" (DUH!) and the screen select network said simply "no discovery goes Wi - Fi network." I ran the print to the printer from the Network Configuration, and he identified 15 networks (mine included). So, it seems that the Wi - Fi receiver on the printer still works...

    Any suggestions?

P.S. This printer has been nothing trouble since I got it, and I wouldn't recommend it to ANYONE (I like actually...).

After attempting to run the installer on my boot camp Windows 7 Ultimate version, I fell at last on an obscure statement in the configuration of the PC software for the c4780. It says to connect the computer to the router using the router WPS button.

I have reset the configuration on the printer and turned off wireless the wireless, then I pushed the the router WPS button until the blue WiFi light on the c4780 lit. THIS SEEMED to BE THE KEY STEPS to CONNECT THE c4780 to MY ROUTER.

After that, the configuration and setting up the printer on my Mac using the system of preferences was a piece of cake. Functions of the printer and the scanner work with Mac drivers.

Problem solved... For now... This printer is so buggy, I have no doubt I'll have similar problems in the future.

  • Problem with new router WRVS4400N

I recently bought a new Cisco WRVS4400N router for our network which has 19 computers connected to a switch of 24 ports.  We currently use a D-Link router and migrate to the Cisco router.  The problem I have is that as soon as I connect one of our servers or the switch 24 ports to the Cisco router I can no longer access the internet or the connection to the network, I can also access the routers of each server configuration.  If I connect the router to make a stand-alone computer I can access the configuration and change things, but as soon as I connect the server or switch 24 ports everything dies (all lights are green on the router but if everything is connected).

Has anyone experience this problem with this router?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hi Shawn,

Thank you for posting. The server provides DHCP on your network? If so, disable the DHCP server on the WRVS4400N before you connect it to your network.
