    Hello

    Hi Alan Brookman,.

    Try the following steps:

Method 1: Temporarily disable security (including firewalls) software and check if you can download iTunes.

If disabling the security software solves the problem, then contact the manufacturer of the specific security software to fix the problem.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not

  • Unable to launch iTunes

Download "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience. "message at the launch of iTunes in Win XP SP3. Microsoft Management Console is missing the file run for local service "Application Management". I've exhausted all the suggestions of Apple online support.

Excuse me, but I'm not going to try very hard to help to repair a system that has been trashed by the use of a registry cleaner (see note below).

    That said...

I suggest following the procedure below between the lines of * to uninstall remainders of your old installation of iTunes and do a clean install of iTunes:

    ***************************************************************************************************

    New facilities corrupted iTunes.

Used to have a tool just to do this, called the Windows Installer Microsoft Cleanup utility.  Apparently, however, when this tool has been used (I think with MS Office), removes sometimes more he was supposed to, and that's why Microsoft has removed the tool of its download servers.

The Windows Installer Cleanup utility is always available from http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html , or you can use the free Revo Uninstaller.  Before using or the other of these tools, create a restore point from the system, backup the registry with C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT, or (if you can afford) creates a full disk image or a clone - just in case.

Here are the usual directions to perform a "clean installation" of iTunes, based on Support of Apple HT1926 article.

Go to control panel > Add/Remove programs
    Remove these applications:
    1 Apple Software Update
    2. Apple Mobile Device Support
    3 Hello
4 iPod for Windows (this may or may not exist, be it, it is not necessary, then we can remove it)
    5 iTunes
    6 QuickTime

Open my computer > C: > Program Files
    Delete these files (if present)
    1 iPod
    2 iTunes
    3 QuickTime

    Empty your temp directory:
Open my computer > C: > Documents & Settings > username > Local Settings and delete the contents of the folder called "Temp".

If you don't see the local settings, enable hidden files:
Tools > Folder Options > view tab
Select Show Hidden Files & folder, and then click OK

Once this file is empty, restart the computer

[See note above regarding cleanup utility]
Download & install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Launch the utility: start > programs > Windows Installer Clean Up
Select one of the applications mentioned above and click on remove

    Restart the computer
Download & reinstall iTunes from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

    ***************************************************************************************************

The question of the function of management applications may be relevant to your problem, because this service provides software installation services.  However, management of service applications is not included in Windows XP Home Edition (you don't mention what version of XP you have), IMO so chances are that this has nothing to do with your problem are low.

You could take a peek in the "system" log in the event viewer (start > run > eventvwr > OK) for any errors of "Service Control Manager" and if yes, double click it and see if they mention the applications management service.  If there's nothing there, click the "Copy" icon (right underneath the up/down arrows) and paste the information into an answer here.

The "status" of the service is not as important as the "Startup type".  The latter is supposed to be set to 'Manual', which means that the service will be launched whenever something that needs the services requested.

The reason why your search has not is that you were looking for the wrong thing. There is no file named "svchost.exe - k netsvcs" - he has just svchost.exe.

Svchost.exe is a Windows XP application core.  It is used for processes of 'host' run from dynamic link (DLL files) libraries rather than the exe or other executables directly.  The rest of this line (i.e. - k netsvcs) indicates a particular instance of svchost.exe which group (defined in the registry) services will be hosted by this instance of svchost.  For more details, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314056/

    Hello ronthomasfsu,

ITunes is a product of part 3, I tried to get to the best place for support, which is the Apple Support.
You can have another program that is interfering with iTunes on Windows 7.

You have errors in the event log?
To open Event Viewer: click on the Start button. In the search box, type and then event viewer from the list of results, double-click Event Viewer.
Then, check the logs of system and Application events for possible errors.

Then, since it was an upgrade of Windows Vista, you can try the following to see if it will be useful.
Run the System File Checker to see if you have corrupted system files.
    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any violation of the integrity and repair any damaged operating system files.

    Reboot your system.

See: the Article ID: 929833 - how to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Now run the command chkdsk:
1 disable any security software before you attempt to upgrade or do a clean install.
    2. make sure that your computer is updated (devices and applications)
    3. disconnect all external devices before installing.
    4. check your hard disk for errors:
    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r
When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

Now, try and see if iTunes will install or update successfully.

If the problems persist, you can do a upgrade in Place or repair.
Follow the steps below to perform a repair.

The upgrade in place is a tool to fix the system. Thanks to the special upgrade process, we will be able to repair the system. The upgrade in place will not affect the settings like photos, movies, documents, etc. that are saved on the computer. Although this operation will not remove or modify the files and installed programs, I suggest always that you back up important files before you do. In addition, you may need to reinstall the device drivers after this operation.

The detailed steps are included as below:

    On-site upgrade
    ====================
1 log on to the system first.
    2. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in the DVD drive of the computer.
    3. Click Start and select computer.
    4. find the "setup.exe" file in the DVD-ROM and double-click it.

    5. click on install now.

    6. When you are prompted to enter the product key, please click Next directly without entering any key. The installation wizard will prompt and ask if you confirm to install Windows 7 without the key and choose please confirm.

    7. When you get to the screen ' which type of installation you want', click upgrade to upgrade the Windows 7 system files.

Note: When running the upgrade on the spot, the system will restart automatically (several times) to merge the files and programs, please leave the computer alone and does not configure it until the 'upgrade on the spot"finished. The system should start Windows 7, once it is upgraded. Once the computer is running "upgrade on the spot", you can go and leave the computer and it completes automatically.

Now, try again and see if iTunes update and install.

If please reply back and let us know if this helped with your question.

    Thanks,

    Marilyn

  • Error with iTunes in Windows 10

So I have a strange problem.

What is happening is iTunes opens (perhaps more slowly than normal? Unconfirmed), but will enter a strange state. This will be repeated at random, sometimes when the program starts immediately, other times, a few minutes after. It also leaves this State at random, often after a few minutes, but only for a millisecond. Rarely, it will leave for a few minutes. The only way that seems reliable to enter this State is to plug in my iPhone. The only way to leave he must have the Task Manager kill the program, and then reopen it.

In this State, it will not meet order entries and seems to freeze, but Windows does not recognize it as an error of gel. It will also continue to play any song that was playing before its entry into the State, but not go to the next song, when it ends (it will be however if she leaves the State). If I am interested in another application, although in that State, I can hover over the iTunes toolbar icon and see the screen, but I can't go to iTunes.

I'm sure it's a question of iTunes, as all my other applications work fine. Reinstalling does not solve the problem but (restart the computer between uninstall and reinstall). I'm kind of at a loss because I have no idea how to solve this problem.

    Details:

    iTunes Version: 12.4.1.6

    OS: Windows 10

    Hardware: ASUS GL551
