    There is no way to shoot a video with Windows media player.

    (a) open Windows movie maker, click fileand then click import media items.

    (b) locate the file you want to import and then click import.

    (d) click Tools, and then click effects.

    (e) in the content pane, click the effect you want to add. You can click read under the monitor to see a preview of what the effect looks like.

    I want to change the part of a video with Windows Media Player. How do I do that?

    What operating system is installed on the computer?

    You will not be able to edit videos in Windows Media Player. Instead, you can try to edit the videos by using Windows Live Movie maker.

  • Unable to capture video with the Canon Vixia HV40 HDV - why?

    I am unable to capture video HDV via Firewire to my Cannon Vixia HV40. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on a computer HP DV6T Quad Edition laptop, using the native Firewire interface. I can capture DV standard definition without problem (when the unit is set to DV mode, Windows detects the device and the guests of action - if you select HDV mode, Windows does not, and the camera does not appear in Device Manager).

    So far, I tried to capture HDV in Sony Vegas, Windows Live Movie Maker, Cyberlink PowerDirector 7 and finally HDVSplit (considered as the common denominator of simpler, the lowest for the capture) without success. NOTE: the camera IS recognized in HDV mode. In all the above applications, I can go back, play and fast forward - there's a link that works at least at this level. When I try to capture HDV, I get different results - no success. HDVSplit starts playback on the camera and stops after 3-4 seconds, indicating that no data has been transferred from the camera. If I turn off scene detection, capture runs indefinitely, but the generated file is never more than 0KB. Director of Windows also appears to capture, but the file is still 70 KB and is not valid. Sony Vegas, same, begins the capture but never see any video. CyberLink Power Director, somehow, HDV recorded once a band - and can always record a live camera HD stream.

    I tried a lot of things:

    1 using the older driver 1394
    2 turn HD/HDV
    3 reinstall the capture software
    4 press the 'PLAY' button first, then enable "record", then the workflow is running.
    5. install the Canon software (despite the fact that it contains all drivers for camcorders) - in fact there is no driver for the Canon Vixia HV40. It is supposed to work with the Windows 7 driver. I tried both (W7 and legacy) with the same result.

    The Canon Vixia HV40 is documented as supported in Windows 7 by Microsoft and Canon - and yet there are many people on the Internet claiming to have this problem (although some people report no problems at all). I am sure that I do not see a 'Pink Elephant'. As this is a forum for Microsoft - I would be happy if I could capture in Windows Live Movie Maker - to keep the inconsistencies of the third part of the road. What should I try next? Is there a 1394 a generic driver that is certified to run on Windows 7?

    I went and hooked the camcorder new just to make sure that I can hardly believe it is now capture HDV. Perfect work. Believe me, I've tried evey solution I could find on the internet and it is the only one that worked for me. I found the solution on this forum and started to find only no sooner. I've only used it with Pinnacle Studio 12 so far... never mind, I just tried HDV Split and it works too. I had also planned to buy a SIIG NN-EC2812-S2 and if it had been less expensive, I did not hesitate. I tried from Best Buy's Dynex Express card, but he had the camera recognition problems and sent. I thought that you get what you pay and was actually looking for the best price on the SIIG when I came across the solution. I wish you good luck.

    I'm trying to play videos of when my child was a baby. A few precious memories - although taken with a Webcam.

    I am running Windows XP SP 3. Research on the forum here, it seems that the codec has been removed from windows. And unless I pay a company in 20 US dollars more or less, I won't get to see these videos. Sounds like inmate hostage if you ask me!

    You know quite well by asking or by downloading a local copy and these hosting or those who created the video by checking with something like gspot.

  • How can I play videos with only a MediaPlayer?

    I want to play two videos with only a MediaPlayer:

    or this:
    mpB.media(mSaludo);

    But it is impossible to change the media. It does not work. Sometimes I play video mLogo and sometimes (according to the code) the video mLogo does not start and I see a picture of the first keyframe and nothing else. I have no exception, no error, nothing.
    I want to play mLogo, then mSaludo. How can I do this?

    I want to play two videos with only a MediaPlayer

    You can not.

    MediaPlayer documentation: http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2.0/api/javafx/scene/media/MediaPlayer.html#MediaPlayer (javafx.scene.media.Media)
    "Create a player for a specific medium. This is the only way to associate a multimedia object with a MediaPlayer: once the player is created, it is not editable. The errors that occur synchronously within the constructor will cause exceptions to be thrown. The errors that occur asynchronously will cause the error to be together and therefore any recall onError property to call. "

    I have no exception, no error, nothing.

    Certain exceptions MediaPlayer, they occur asynchronously and you must explicitly add a listener for them, or you will never know that they occur.
    Your code has additional problems, for example, you cannot change an object built from a manufacturer after the object has already been built.
    --------
    What you want to read a video with a single MediaView, and have the second video starts automatically after the first video is over. Note that it is the MediaView that is shared, not the MediaPlayers.
    Here is an example for this.

    public class TwoVideos extends Application {
      public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { launch(args); }
      public void start(final Stage stage) throws Exception {
        final StackPane layout = new StackPane();

        // create some media players.
        final MediaPlayer logoSrc = // first video is just 16sec (thank goodness...)
          createPlayer("http://www.hackerdude.com/channels-test/20051210-w50s.flv");
        final MediaPlayer soludoSrc =
          createPlayer("http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/products/javafx/oow2010-2.flv");

        // create a view to show the mediaplayers.
        final MediaView mediaView = new MediaView(logoSrc);

        // play the logo video, followed by the soludo video, followed by a finished message.
        logoSrc.play();
        logoSrc.setOnEndOfMedia(new Runnable() {
          @Override public void run() {
            mediaView.setMediaPlayer(soludoSrc);
            soludoSrc.play();
          }
        });
        soludoSrc.setOnEndOfMedia(new Runnable() {
          @Override public void run() {
            layout.getChildren().remove(mediaView);
            layout.getChildren().add(new Label("All Done!"));
          }
        });

        // layout the scene.
        layout.setStyle("-fx-background-color: cornsilk; -fx-font-size: 20; -fx-padding: 10;");
        layout.getChildren().addAll(mediaView);
        Scene scene = new Scene(layout, 600, 400);
        stage.setScene(scene);
        stage.show();
      }

      /** @return a MediaPlayer for the given source which will report any errors it encounters */
      private MediaPlayer createPlayer(String aMediaSrc) {
        final MediaPlayer player = new MediaPlayer(new Media(aMediaSrc));
        player.setOnError(new Runnable() {
          @Override public void run() {
            System.out.println("Media error occurred: " + player.getError());
          }
        });
        return player;
      }
    }

    On my machine (win7, javafx 2.0, jdk7), this example will not work correctly about 50% of the time, the rest of the time I get an error from the corruption of the media reported, I guess due to errors in the media stack, because it works sometimes. I'll try it again with the next 2.0.2 version JavaFX and report a Jira if it still does not work. You can try the code above with your videos, and if he does not report errors to the command line, then likely will work best for you.
