  Yes, I would first of all, running the wizard of wireless configuration from the front panel of the printer (installation program, Menu, Assistant wireless network), make sure that the printer is connected to your network, then proceed to uninstall the printer, restart the PC and reinstall them both back on your computer.

Unable to solve this problem through managing the digitization of printing software to computer section, I finally uninstalled the HP software and downloaded the full setting software and driver package on the HP site for a new installation and configuration. I have had no problem adding the printer and its connection to the network through devices and printers in Control Panel 10. As before, I can print without problem, but when I try to scan, the printer status screen informs me that the function computer scanning must be enabled via the printer software. My current situation is that when I run the printing software, it goes immediately to the printer configuration screen and then hangs on 'check the network environment,' let me do the software already installed. So it seems to me went from bad to worse, because I have more access to the software is of the other features, such as ink cartridge levels.   Win 7 Home Premium, 32-bit and 64-bit PCs, wireless connection to the printer OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911a.

  When clicking on the icon of the desktop printer, or to access the HP program in the start menu, MS Notepad opens the interface instead of the interface coding. It's a constant problem since the installation of the software in November 2012. The software has been installed on all three 3 PCs with the disc that came with the printer. All three 3 PCs suffer the same problem of no interface, only Noptpad with the code.

  I uninstalled the drivers and firmware (using Revo) completely and reinstalled from the HP Support download site. The problem remains.

  The interface of Scan function works perfectly in the start menu.

  Other than that, the printer works fine when access to it to print from the sites, as well as the printer works perfectly with all functions when using the control panel touchscreen printer.

  I understand that you have a 8600 Officejet which is not able to open the wizard in the printer on 3 different computers. I'm sorry to hear what is happening, but I'd be happy to help you!

  I would recommend you have a look through this HP Printer Wizard opens with an error in Script or in Notepad and you should then be able to use everything as planned.

  The proper functioning of the printer and Scanner is the direct responsibility of the producer of material
  and no windows. There are hundreds of these devices that work correctly on Windows 7 if

  written correctly. Of course many older devices are not supported by their creators for later
  Versions of Windows. Microsoft passes but does not write drivers and interfaces
  Printers and Scanners need to function properly. So, the manufacturer and no one else, is totally
  Manager to see if there are interfaces and appropriate drivers.

  Many device makers do not write new drivers and interfaces for older hardware because either
  they cannot support the new methods or because they want to sell new hardware.

  Personally, I don't think that Microsoft is lying because they also say that device manufacturers have the
  Omos unique to provide the necessary compatible drivers and interfaces.

  3. click on network drive mapping

  The Officejet Pro 8600 printer does not support Windows 2000.  I'm sorry.

  However, there may be a workaround solution.  To clarify, I don't have a Windows 2000 system to test this with, and it can take a series of changes for the following steps to work with Windows 2000.  You may need to find the equivalent Windows 2000 for this process steps/formulation as it was done using Windows 7 (the process must be the same).

  It sounds weird, but the Deskjet 990c driver will work for the Officejet Pro 8600, and there's a Windows 2000 driver that is available for download.  However, Windows Update already has this driver and it's easier to use it instead to extract the executable driver and ending.

  Essentially, the printer must be added manually using the Deskjet 990c printer driver.  There may be other resources out there, but I found none on the HP site for the use of this driver instead of the Oifficejet 8600 driver. This will give you only the printing features and nothing else. In addition, there may be problems printing since this isn't an official driver for Windows 2000 for the 8600 (I have not noticed any problems when I did a few test prints).

  1. go where your printers are listed and select the option to add a printer.

  

  2. Select the option to add a local printer (maybe it's a network printer in Windows 2000).

  

  3. create a new Standard TCP/IP port.

  

  4. Enter the address of the printer in the field IP address Ip or host name.

  

  5. the selection of the pilot window should now be open.  Click Windows update will complete the printer selection screen (may take several minutes using Windows Update).  Select HP for the manufacturer and the printer Deskjet 990c for the printer.

  I have OSX 10.7.5 and I recently purchased the Officejet Pro 8600. I noticed that when I choose to print from Firefox browser, I see the duplex printing option. I don't see this option when printing from Word, Excel or Adobe software.

  I wanted to share what I found, in case someone else has the same questions (I got a quick help of Apple Support communities/forums).  I don't know if this applies to versions of Microsoft office, but my key learning is that the checkbox will appear not at all for these programs.
