If your computer is another brand, try thir web site. TSST is Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology. I did not a careful search for the drivers on this website but a zip of a very fast yealded.
I see no reason that HP or any computer manufacturer would customize the firmware on a CD/DVD unit, so the update of the HP site would probably be good to go. Your call completely.

My Toshiba Satellite M70-339 recognizes the DVD movie but not blank blank DVD or CD discs.
It happened some time ago and I'm ever round to sorting. INE day that only, it has stopped working.I have since reformatted all the computer several times, but it has never begun work again.
I can watch a movie, a DVD OK, but when I try to burn anything to a DVD or CD, it don't think that there is a disc in the machine to engrave on Virgin.I tried the software built into Windows XP, burning CD and it does not work, nor does any third-party CD or DVD burning software.
Just to reiterate, I want to be able to burn the files to CD/DVD again.
Can someone advise?

Remove the drive CD/DVD from the list of Device Manager.
Go to the registry and remove the filters above and below the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}Restart the unit.
By the way; I also recommend trying different disks, CDs and DVDs from different manufacturers. Discs R TDK is a good brand and good qulaity I use this and I m satisfied

Some DVDs, like Windows XP, plays OK and any disc or CD plays in the country. But, no DVD set. Does not recognize. Search and search, but no game. Help, please.

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
correctly.Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.
Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.
CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.Several good info here:

My laptop does not recognize the DVD drive or an external USB DVD drive.
My laptop does not reconise the integrated DVD or an external USB, DVD player. But if I set the BIOS to let the laptop for the start of the DVD player and the DVD player worked fine. Windows 7 will not recognize the dvd drive
Windows 7 will not recognize the dvd drive, although it worked well for more than two years. Now I can't access it to install new software.
It will not be displayed in the Device Manager, bad shooters to say it is not connected or is, tried Fixit fix (could not as "not applicable to your computer update"), uninstall iTunes (in the case of a conflict - even if it worked with the DVD of > 1 year), etc., but still cannot access the DVD.
It's obviously a known issue, given that a support page - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976187 that recommends the fix or manually disable ALPM active power management. If it of a known issue, why is not included in the updates and that I have to disable ALPM power if management it worked ok before?
What now? Is turn off the power, my only option? What happens if it is not yet recognized after that?

The Explorer does not recognize my DVD drive
My system suddenly stopped recognizing my DVD drive. Windows Explorer does not recognize. Device Manager says there are and that the driver is up-to-date. I tried to uninstall and reboot, but that did not help. I use Win 7 Home premium, 64-bit with a terabyte HD and 6 GB of RAM. Power mac g4 does not recognize the DVD/CD drive. It has worked very well in Leapard

Do you have already disconnected the power for at least 5 minutes DVD recorder? If not try this and disconnect power. Then try again to remove the DVD.
In the worst cases, the drive is defective and must be repaired service authorized in your country.
