  I just got my second Satellite L500-126.
  I traded my first for a new because the ESCAPE key got stuck sometimes and made a grinding sound.

  Now, with my new one, I noticed that my dvd drive does not open very well unrolled and 2 bars of silver metal bit come out with the car when I open it.
  Is this normal?

  Also, when I close the dvd player, I hear a little noise "ping!"
  Like a spring, or something. Is that also normal?

  I'm not quite sure what you mean by 2 small bars of silver, but the reader of my laptop s contains two metals (runners, railway).
  This is normal and these pieces are important to ensure that the drive can eject properly and could remain in a good position.
  Still, you will hear a short click Open and close the drive.

  So I guess it's ok.

  Satellite L500-126, I bought last week, told me that VRAM dedicated to this laptop is 512 MB in the shop, but when I check the VRAM at home, it shows that 1 G dedicated VRAM.
  My old laptop is Satellite M70-147, I remember my old laptop uses a technology that doubles the real virtual VRAM 256 MB 128 (I forgot the name of the technology).

  I have a problem with my new toshiba satellite L500-126. With certain colors, like green, dark gray, I see vertical lines on the screen, only the part of the screen were the color is.

  For example, on this screenshot I made. I see vertical lines inside the chatbox. There you can see the chattext. I looked at this picture with another monitor. But I don't see the vertical lines. Am I a bad screen? Or is this normal on this model?

  In my opinion, the case is clear: there is something wrong with the internal monitor to the laptop and it must be replaced.
  What do you think?

  I mean that if it would be a software problem then you would have the same lines.

  I guess that your laptop is still under warranty because the Satellite L500 is fairly new. Contact an authorized service provider and ask for help. Normally, you should get a new free exhibition. :)

• Problem creating discs of recovery for the Satellite L500-126

  I have a problem of creation of recovery for the Satellite L500-126 disks.

  I'm using the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

  The 1st disk is ok.
  When I try to do the 2nd drive, the systems stops exactly 50% of the 2nd drive. and no more reaction from the creator of disc.

  I tried 2 x, and every time I had to give up and throw the dvd.

  any suggestions?

  You should try another DVD from different manufacturers
  It s nothing unusual that some DVDs are not totally compatible and CD/DVD players cannot write data correctly
  I had this problem in the past and could solve this test and using different DVD.

• Satellite L500-126 - access keys does not work on Windows 7

  I upgraded my Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (no clean install upgrade) for my Satellite L500-126.

  Everything works fine except the shortcuts (FN + F keys) keyboard, shortcut keys worked fine in Vista prior to upgrade. I want to reinstall the drivers or applications for shortcut keys, but the downloads page confuses me a lot. Should what driver and applicantion I download for this keyboard shortcuts?

  Keys FN and all the other special functions, you need only the Toshiba value added Package. It contains all the drivers you need for these functions:

  I installed Windows 7 on my Satellite A300 and Qosmio F50. After installing the package of added value, I can successfully use the FN keys. :)

• Satellite L500-126, (Fn Hotkeys) Flash card still does not work

  I use windows 7 ultimate x 64 on L500-126, the new win7 x 64 drivers are available since yesterday...

  However, maps (Fn Hotkeys) Flash still does not work after the installation of the new VAP. Flash cards can appear at the top of my screen, I can click on them with the mouse, but the Fn combinations work not at all!

  I noticed that there is a downloadable driver called "support Flash Cards", even, I installed this app, the problem still remains.

  Then I uninstalled VAP and kept "Support Flash Cards", to my surprise, the combination Fn + F6 and F7 (brightness adjustment) worked! However, without VAP I couldn't use other combinations.

  Are there still problems with the new VAP for win 7 x 64?

  P.S. The new "hardware configuration" seems to be a problem as well, I tried to change some configurations in this application but after re-boot, all options are returned.

• HWsetup does not retain the settings on my new Satellite L500-11F

  you just bought a Satellite L500-11F.
  I tried to connect to a WLAN, but every time I turn on the LAN with the hwsetup.exe, parameters of fall after a reboot necessary return to "off".

  I don't really know what you're doing, but for the activation of WLAN card use the WLAN switch and the FN + F8 key combination.
  You can update the WLAN switch on position but toggle wireless card with FN + F8 only. When you use option disable the WLAN led will be OFF.

  You have installed the 64-bit version after the first start, I mean original Toshiba recovery image? Do you have?

  I'm going to update my system to windows 7 64-bit, however drivers 64-bit windows 7 aren't currently available for L500-126.
  I noticed the drivers 32-bit of windows 7 are available since last week, I wonder when the win7 64 bit drivers would be ready?

  All laptops listed on Win7 download page will build for 32 and 64 bit, and I think it's just a matter of time where the drivers will be ready for download. Maybe you should wait a few days with the Win7 installation.
  Anyway, as Feodor written you can try to use some Vista drivers.

  I hope I understand your right to question so here is what I know about it:
  When you upgrade original Vista preinstalled you do not need to activate Win7, but if you clean Win7 installation then you must activate the preinstalled version.

  With other words to have free Win7 of activations, you must install Vista first using Toshiba DVD recovery and then he move to Win7.

  I carefully typed and checked the S/N number, SNID, (both on a label on the bottom) and the identification number of the system screen. All three are rejected when I try to save. I found different positions of people wh have been unable to resolve the problem.

  Can someone tell me where is the serial number? If it is one of the three sources I have just mentioned, can someone Acer contact me so that I can record? Thank you.

  This has been answered on another thread. The serial number is on the sticker on the bottom and starts with SN. There is no letter o Zeros are mixed with the letters, but there is no letter o in a number of series of Acer.
