  I have the situation where a bunch of persistent Windows 10 VM VDI (several pools, all VM 1 by manual pool) are ALWAYS shown as 'Available' in Admin mode, even when a user is connected. Using PCoIP or RDP has no importance.

  Description:

  -All the time, desktop never appears as 'connected' in the Admin view when users log on. It's always 'available', which is dead wrong in the first place.

  -L' use of PCoIP disconnects-> reconnects with PCoIP or RDP.

  -Using RDP at a certain point however, triggers the message of "sources of funds available for this desktop computer are currently busy" clients of the view. Re-login impossible at all from that moment, regardless of the protocol used.

  -Once again, yet these VM Win10 see as "available" regardless of the actual status.

  -There is no firewall between windows 10 VM and connection brokers (who have no problem replication).

  -Restarting the agent from the view and related services does not 'release' of the virtual machine. It will still say 'sources of funds available for this desktop computer are currently busy.

  -Only a restart of the operating system can erase it and make the available virtual machine to connect again.

  -While the virtual machine is amplified shutdown or restart, desktop shows as "inaccessible Agent" so there is communication between Agents and brokers.

  Windows 7 persistent VM works 100% normal in all respects. It's only 10 VM Windows and... Since a round patch in a few weeks (I was this problem since then). Before some patch does this (but have no evidence) these VM Windows 10 has worked well with view 6.2.0

  These virtual machines are highly customized with special software and can not be simply rebuild. I re-install VMtools, view Agent etc etc several times. No dice. Even tried a fresh install of Windows (connected to the same level), still shows this behavior.

  All this started a few weeks back after a round Patch from Microsoft. Then maybe a M$ Patch assigned Agent of the view. So I uninstalled/re-installed the Agent of 62 reviews. Improved 6.2 to 6.2.2 etc. all to nothing does not. New, old, VMtools Agents re-installed. I've tried everything now.

  Has anyone seen this or someone can point me in the right direction for troubleshooting? I haven't noticed any funky stuff in the papers, but I'm probably tunnel vision/search the bad things after all this time.

  I do view since the early days, but I'm really stumped this time. I am all of these ideas.

  If you want to know how it (possibly) happened, I put my Virtual Machine in a suspended state, but he took a while to make my computer shifted so I just shut down my computer and it's been like that since. All other virtual machines that I played.

• Unable to see VM in the data store after a restore of vcenter

  One of my colleagues tried to install Service Pack 3 to SQL 2005 on our vcenter SQL instance.  Unfortunately, this was not and no services would begin once he did the upgrade.

  He gave the entire server to a backup that was taken a week ago.  Now, we have some problems where we do not see the virtual machines if browse us the data store, it is just to show as thought that there is no data there (see screenshot) and a virtual machine appears as orphans.

  Normally I would just delete the virtual machine of vcenter and go back and import it again but I can't do what I'm not.

  Any ideas?

  Try removing the host and adding back to vCenter. It will update the agent, vpxa.

  I have two clusters VI3. An older cluster to 3.02 hosts and a new cluster with ESXi hosts. Level of current patch on ESXi hosts. New guests and old presenters sees the same storage, but I have additional storage which can see only the new virtual machine.

  Most of the migration to the new cluster went very well. A few questions. But a VM just GIVES me fits.

  After the failure of attempts to migrate the virtual machine to the new storage, I thought I just migrate the virtual machine to the new host and leave it on the old storage, for now, until we could find something later. VCenter events logs show that the migration has expired. However, the virtual machine appears in the new cluster and is no longer in the old cluster. Also, he turned on itself for some reason any. Turn off in Vcenter gives the error "the operation failed because another task is underway."   My X200s new comes with preloaded Vista Business and 3 CD marked as "Rescue and recovery disk for Windows XP" and "Windows XP Professional SP2 product recovery disc 1 & 2", respectively. " I want to repartition the disk, remove Vista in the process, install linux Ubuntu 64-bit, and then install Windows XP in a virtual VMware or VirtualBox machine. The question is, are provided enough CD do a XP install in a virtual machine?

  No, you can not install XP on a virtual machine with the CD restore provided with your device. You will need a regular XP installation cd and a number of key valid. It has to do with the fact that the restore cd should see a BIOS generic virtual machine rather than the true BIOS Lenovo and refuse to install.

• vROPs - you can create a report to show when a virtual machine has changed and what has changed?

  I can't currently developing a report/view that can show me what I'm looking for.  I thought since it's related capabilities vROPs can keep track.  Is there a way to see the when a virtual machine has changed and what has changed?  Looking mainly vdisk, vCPU or vRAM.

  There are few things you can try to help him with this.

  1. the events view shows you changes in resources, it is not terribly detailed, but it will help

  2. depending on your version, you can also view in Configuration Manager that is part of the vRO suite that will show you the changes to configurations.

• Cannot resize the virtual disk, the virtual machine by using a «child» vmdk file

  I want to resize my VM from 50 GB to 100 GB.

  It seems that VMware workstation 9 uses a child for my VM vmdk.  In my case, using its "Windows Server 2008 R2 x 64 - 000001.vmdk" for its virtual disk file.  The correct file should be "Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.vmdk", I think.

  There are currently no snapshots registered for this virtual machine, I see.

  The virtual machine works well as is, but I can't resize the disk without the VMWare gui, saying I should be perform the operation on the parent vmdk file.

  It seems that I do run a snapshot that is not really a snapshot?  How to merge with the older files - Sxx.vmdk to 0000xx - Sxxx.vmdk

  I also tried to use the command line tool to manually resize the vmdk parent, but I get permission "access denied" errors.

  He no snapshots are displayed in the Manager of snapshot with the check box 'Show AutoProtect snapshots' verified then the snapshot is an orphan and the best way I use normally to fix this if I want the contents of the snapshot of orphan to be among the basic disk is with tab of the virtual machine in VMware Workstation GUI closed I simply delete the .vmsd file and then open the virtual machine tab in the VMware Workstation GUI and cover and immediately remove a snapshot in the Snapshot Manager.  This will force the orphan snapshot to merge with the parent disk.  Then to clean I still remove the .vmsd file and orphans, .vmsn and .vmem file.

  Note: Before the procedure you have a good backup of the virtual machine in case you accidentally mess something up.

  We have a laboratory of about 25 computers and a Dell 8925 Blade Server in the back running Esxi 5.0. I installed on each workstation client vSphere and have implemented several usernames for students. Everyone can connect to client vSphere very well of their workstations. The question I have is that if a user creates a virtual, any computer user who connects the vSphere client can see, navigate and edit this VM. I'm looking for a way to make the profile of the specific virtual machine, so that users can only see and access the virtual machines that they have created. Is this possible with the vSphere Hypervisor or should I buy a different package?

  My mistake, I was thinking about a licensed copy of vSphere with vCenter. In your case, the permissions must be set on the individual virtual machines.

  Click a virtual machine > permissions tab > add users

  If you want to use Active Directory authentication rather than accounts of the local host, you can go to

  Click Home > Configuration > Authentication Services

  And establish a relationship with your domain. You can then apply ad users/groups to the VM permissions.

• State of the virtual machine after the host failure

  If a virtual machine is running on a host and that host suddenly powers off dirty, like a power failure or a remote access card power the server due to a fault, overtemp etc., what happens to the virtual machine?

  My guess is the virtual machine is actually difficult, dirty off too and if HA is configured, etc it is going to do a full power on sequence. Or is it restart on a new server and be automatically in the same power state with the same States of memory and cpu until the host has dropped dead? So if I got a connection of the DRC in a vm of windows server and the host dies suddenly and it restarts, reconnect to the session even State immediately before the breaking of the host?

  When ESX\ESXi fails due to power failure:

  No configured HA:

  1. all virtual machines is also faces off against the sudden stop. SMV will lose data runtime and all communications (including the RDP connection) will be interrupted.

  Configured HA:

  When you create a new virtual machine template, you can choose what format will be created in the virtual machine.  (see attachment)

  A virtual machine deployed from this inherits properties and you can improve it to ESX 3.5 format 4.0 after deployment as needed.

• Move a virtual machine from one host to another without vCenter Server

  Hi all

  Something's been recently who raised the question on moving a virtual machine between hosts without vCenter.  I am running vSphere manage 3 blades in a c3000.  I have a shared storage iSCSI blade which all the blades connect to.  All of my virtual machines are in the same data store on the shared storage.  I'm also under vCenter Server as a virtual machine on one of the blades.  The blade that hosts the vCenter Server VM dead recently. What I was hoping to do is use vSphere Client to connect directly to one of the other blades and hover over the vCenter Server VM to one of the blades of the good, but I can't find a way to do this.  Using the browser of data store and see all of the virtual machine on the store of data without problem, but I see no way to migrate the virtual machine without vCenter server.  In the end, the blade has only had a problem of memory I corrected and managed to raise the blade but I now think of the future.  I use only Essentials, so I don't have access to vMotion and Storage vMotion.  I know that running vCenter Server is supported by Vmware, but I wonder if it's the best practices.

  Any thoughts?

  Hi, I assume that you get this error because the machine is running, try to connect directly to the host and do the same with an engine off the machine.

  It is a constraint of security designed to prevent the full control permission, being too easy accidentally to give everyone in a system.

  The answer depends on whether you have PF3 or LM4.

  Behavior of PF3: share to everyone in an org is read-only, while sharing a physical person should give you full read/write/control

  LM4 behavior: share in all the world in an org, individuals selected in an org or anyone in a different workspace == read-only, while in the same workspace gives you the opportunity.

  That said, total control: the ability to deploy/undeploy it or change the settings of the virtual machine, NOT if the specified user has write access the console.  The distinction is quite important.

  Also, page followed, but he had the wrong information, there may be an arbitrary number of connections of the competing console to the same VM (oh, I'm sure that there is a limit, but I did not deliberately try to find).  It does give the impression that several people are faced with the same mouse and keyboard...

  Hello!

  With VMware Server 1.x, it was easy for me to find which machine used what PID. I just had to connect to the web interface of VMware Server and voila I could see my names of virtual machines and their respective PIDs.

  Now with VMware Server 2 I can't find anywhere them in the web console of VMware!

  Instead I use Process Explorer (and market - I find that PID is related to computer)...

  Anyone has any idea where I can get this info quickly in VMware software/console/whatever?
