Unable to set up the homegroup

Original title: Windows 7 2 cards NETWORK Homegroup

Hello

I thought it would be simple to the twenty-FIRST century.

I have computer with Windows 7. and I just bought a second computer with Windows 8.1.

The windows 7 computer is connect via USB > USB to ethernet adapter > internet broadband.

The computer windows 7 and the windows 8.1 computer of are connected by an ethernet cable.

The internet connection was put in common (and I could connect to the internet with the windows PC 8.1) but I have disabled this all by searching for a solution.

I thought it would be simple.

Windows 7 is connected to the internet and I put the Ethernet between the two computers in a homegroup.

Well well... None. So if anyone can help me, it would be much appreciated.

OK, let's start with the base.

On windows 7 PC I have 2 networks.

One is the connection to the internet, I put it in the public (like the internet seems a very public place for me ;-).

The other connection is to connect to the computer of windows 8. It is an unidentified network (public).

I have a feeling that this is where the problems start.

So thank you once again for any poniters or tips!

S.

Thank you for your time.

I found the following solution:

Network XP and windows 7 - "limited or no connectivity."

With setting the default gateway and others, the connection of the second NETWORK card after unidentified network and I could now change the type of audience at home.

Make a homegroup and then went smooth.

  • RESOLVED - unable to enable IPv6 in Windows 7, so unable to connect to the homegroup - ZoneAlarm was the problem

My problem is that I can't turn on IPv6 in Windows 7.

My goal was to set up a homegroup three computers so that I can share a printer that is connected to one of them. They are all running different versions of Windows 7.  A desktop computer has created a homegroup, and a second desktop computer connected successfully to the homegroup and can print using the first computer printer.

The third computer is a portable computer. When you go to the homegroup settings page, it says that the homegroup is available. But this computer is unable to join when you click on the "join" button. The convenience store said IPv6 must be enabled.

Option is checked in the IPv6 network card settings. (The install button is also active and uninstall is dimmed. I don't understand why this should be as I have read that you cannot uninstall IPv6, if it makes sense for the uninstallation to be grey, why install would be an option? Confusion between.)

Here is what seems to be the root of the problem. In the registry settings, in the section IPv6 DisabledComponents is set to 255 (disabled). I change it to 0 (all features enabled), but I can't always connect to the homegroup. I restart the computer and the value 0 is changed back to 255.

I can't activate IPv6, it isn't surprising that the computer cannot join the homegroup as I read that this function requires IPv6.

Can any expert from Microsoft give me some advice on how to operate the homegroup?

    Thank you very much.

I have now found the answer to my problem. This is a setting in the free ZoneAlarm firewall. I will describe the solution in the case of meeting other people that.

I have the default setting of the version of ZoneAlarm is that it disables IPv6 when it starts. (I don't know if it's the same for all versions).

Although I tried disabling ZoneAlarm (and my separate anti-virus) so he was trying to set up group residential, just turn it off has no impact on registry settings - DisabledComponents is always set at 255 until you change to 0 and, critically, restart the machine. Then, the parameter 0 (enabled) will come into force. Or so it seems to me as a layman.

But if you did not disable the automatic startup of ZoneAlarm (like me) then as soon as you restart the computer, ZoneAlarm starts too and resets the 255, new registry entry to disable IPv6. If you can't join a homegroup.

The solution is to open ZoneAlarm and choose firewall, hand and advanced. Then you will see the option to activate IPv6 networks. When I didn't do the notebook had no problem joined the homegroup.

I don't know why I have the same problem on the second desktop computer. Maybe it's runnning a later version of ZoneAlarm to allow IPv6 - I haven't checked.

In any case, I spent hours looking for this solution, so I hope that the description above helps someone else that has a parameter of the problem until a homegroup because of what seems ZoneAlarm made IPv6 settings in the registry.

I created a group residential today first time on pc Windows 8.

But when I am trying to reach other PCs, the residential band just does not appear.

The pc, I train to connect from is Windows 10 and 8. So please tell me what error.

I made sure they are on the same network and have the same date and time (default option is selected), troubleshooting cannot identify the problem and asks him to run the troubleshooter on the pc where it is created, and this store too cannot identify the problem.

Also, I have made various services like residential groups, peertopeer named start etc, which does not help too.

The error is simply that there's no homegroup on my network.

Please help a soon, thank you!

    Hello

I install Siebel Enterprise Server in a self-study environment. I'm following the Siebel IP 2015 online documentation (Siebel Innovation Pack 2015: installation of the Siebel database) and I can't get through the database Configuration Wizard.

    1. I created the installation Image for Siebel Enterprise Server using the Siebel IP 2015 out Oracle e-Delivery and installed HER.
    2. The next step is to run the database Configuration Wizard. I ran and he asked me to run grantusr.sql on the database.
    3. I ran grantusr.sql on my (installed on the same server) Oracle XE database under the account 'system '.
    4. He then asked me to specify the DSN name for the Oracle database, so I created a DSN on the same server (SIebel_DSN).
    5. For Siebel_DSN, I specified "localhost:1521 / xe ' such as TSN, sadmin as the user (I manually put his password because grantusr.sql does not define a password).
    6. I tested the DSN and he says 'successful connection '.
    7. I went back the database Configuration Wizard and click Next on the page "enter DSN.
    8. It then asks me to enter the database username and password. Then I entered the sadmin user name and the password for it (which was successfully tested on the DSN screen), and I get an error saying that the login/password is not valid.

I did something wrong? I'm supposed to enter "sadmin" at this stage? I tried to enter the 'system' name of user and password I used to run the grantusr.sql script, which doesn't work either.

Edit: Before anyone says that I should not use Oracle Database Express Edition with Siebel Enterprise Server, I just tried the new with Oracle Database Enterprise Edition (installed on a separate server). I installed the Client for the same version of the database on the Siebel server and again, I'm not be able to authenticate through the database Configuration Wizard. I can authenticate through the DSN Configuration window and I can connect using Oracle SQL Developer (from the Siebel server but not the DB Conf Wiz.)

    Any help would be great!

I found out what it was, I was using the 64-bit client for the database and database oracle 12 c, which are not supported by Siebel 2015. I tried everything, again with the Oracle 11 g (32-bit) database client, pointed to an Oracle Database 11g Server (64-bit) and the DSN test worked fine.

All computers running Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit systems.  Office of origin created homegroup connected by ethernet to the router. have been connected to the homegroup on another computer in the office connected with netgear system; two laptop computers were connected wireless.  Now have a third laptop and unable to connect to the homegroup.  Has a linksys e2000 router.  Norton 360 for two years were released.  Have deleted and restarted homegroup; disabled norton firewall and virus protection on computers with no luck.  All computers have different names. Uninstalled the file listed in some post about homegroups.  Help, please.

    Hi all

I fixed it.  Just so you know, the only thing I did was to connect the new computer laptop into the router with the ethernet cable, is gone in the homegroup settings, set the password, and it took.  I then unplugged the Ethernet and everything remained the same on WiFi.  I have nothing else to other computers; I don't have to disable or uninstall Norton 360.

After the upgrade to 2 switches SG200-26 version 1.4.0.88 firmware, I am unable to set up the CONFIGURATION of the PORT page.

    See the attached images.

Must be a bug in the firmware.

    Please notify for the solution!

    Hello Dimitris,

According to the instructions mentioned in the release notes, the downgrade is possible. Please you have the boot updated as well (it is a part of the firmware package)? (answer to this question does not depend on possibility of downgrade).

  • Hard to set up a homegroup? I think I've cracked it.

It took me about two hours to get this set up, so I hope that if I share what has worked well, it might save some of the rest of you some aggro.

I have two computers at home, both running Win 7 Professional 64 bit.

To create a successful residential group all this had to happen:

    1. If you accidentally created a homegroup in the configuration process machines or you have already paid upward and it of not working, start by going into the computers and "leave" the homegroup.  (Control Panel/homegroup)  Restart both computers.

    2. turn off or remove your firewall temporarily.  I use Norton 360 version 3.  I ended up having to remove it completely and recharge it when everything has been done.  In fact, he says in the small print it will automatically work with sharing files home too long as you have first of all files shared before that Norton is put on.  So I just took off the coast until I have would set up the homegroup.

    3. make sure that you have ownership of the files on both computers.  Look for it in the help files, if you don't know how to do it.  Do it before you try to set up a homegroup.

    4. make sure that you have clicked on all the things you want to share, such as Documents and pictures, and choose "Share with" menu drop-down menu drop-down.  Do it on both computers before trying to implement the homegroup.

    5. make sure you have two computers on and Power Saving off, while none accidentally turned off while you work on them.

    6. set up the homegroup computer main - one that is attached to your router and/or devices.  Homegroup computer seems to consider themselves as the boss computer - sort of cock on the pile of dung, somehow - and, at least in my case, it took serious exception to not having possession of/direct contact with the devices.  My second computer's wi - fi network and when I tried to configure the homegroup this one, he wouldn't have, despite the two computers are virtually identical in specifications and the good wi - fi connection.  He crossed in a very direct way, however, when I have 'left' of the original residential group with both computers and then set up a new main computer use.

Good luck.  You can it break faster that I did.

Thanks for the post. I knew that before (a year or two ago), but needed to rediscover it. In my case, all I had to do was Disable Symantec Endpoint Protection (after having disconnected from the internet) on all computers Windows 7 three times I had created the homegroup on the first computer. It seems strange that the Firewall interferes with the implementation of residential group in the first place, but does not seem to interfere after that.

  • Unable to join the homegroup on new Inspiron 15 5559

I had a residential group put in place for a good while on 3 computers desktop and an old Tower, but my new laptop Dell Inspiron 15 5559 with 10 Windows fails to reach.  I get to the point of putting in the right password and clicking NEXT, then the bar keeps of moving from left to right for several minutes, then stops without any messages and not to join.

Here are the details.  Computer of One Office (a Dell Inspiron 630 with Windows 7 Pro), a former HP with Windows Pro 10 office, an old house built office with Windows 10 Pro (64-bit), and an old Toshiba laptop with 64 bit Windows 7 Home.  All these joined the homegroup very well.  In addition to the homegroup, I have the file & printer sharing power with 4 of them.  On the Dell desktop computer, I have 9 folders and two shared printers.  The new laptop Dell can access shared folders, it is just unable to join the homegroup.  I created the homegroup because I had problems to access 2 shared printers (a Canon IP1600 inkjet and laser Samsung ML-2525) with 10 windows, in case you're wondering why I'm not just with the file & printer sharing instead of homegroup.

In any case the key is that everything on this new Dell laptop works fine except that I can not join the homegroup, and I'm very curious as to why not.  I did full virus scans with Defender and Norton 360 and have done two scans with MalwareBytes, but no malware has been found.  I also ran "SFC/scannow" and it found no problem either.  I checked to make sure that I put in the security key for the homegroup, and at this point, I am triple ideas.  It please does not restore to the factory settings, because I had this problem since the first day that I got this laptop out of the box before I did any customization. FWIW, I'm no novice in computer science.

    What suggest you?  TIA

Yesterday I posted a note that I would have found and solved the problem.  I don't know what happened to this post.  The problem was that there was a popup that was actually a pop-under hidden behind a number of open windows.  He said that there was an invalid password.  Of course the note that I had used to set up 4 PCs had a "n" where there is now a "m".  I would like to say that this has changed from n to m somehow otherwise I don't know how I was able to put in place the other 4 PCs.  Anyhoo, the problem is now resolved.

  • Unable to join the homegroup - when you attempt to join I get this message: cannot create a homegroup on this computer

I tried all the suggested 'fixes' and am still unable to join. My network has worked well until I installed W7. I can create a homegroup on any computer (I have 4 on the network), but no other computers can join. All I get when you are trying to reach is "impossible to create a homegroup on this computer". It is a problen very common, judging from all the complaints I've seen on the forums. With no exaggeration, there are thousands of people are unable to use this 'easy '... home network Please don't tell me to disable my firewall or computer time sync or one of the other "fixes" that do not help.

    Hello

Since you're so desperate, you can configure the network to the office network.

It's a little more work than the collective dwelling, but the results are more flexible.

    -----------------------------------------

Here you have the whole story because what Win 7 can make wise network.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Homegroup = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Network of home or work = fundamentally similar (and better) to the previous methods of theWorking Group sharing which allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

For the best newspaper of the results of each computer screen system and together all computers on a network of the same name, while each computer has its own unique name.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled).
If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic.

If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

Network Win 7 with another version of Windows as a work network (works very well if all computers are Win 7 also).

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

    -------------

If you have permission and security issues with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/permission-security.jpg

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

** Note . All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account onall computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users. It is available to avoid the need to configure permission for each on its own, it does not mean all those who feel that they would like to connect.

First of all, where is the "printer software" to start the scan?

Have tried all this. When I opened the series HP Envy 7640 (network): Assistant of HP printer, I click on "Scan the Document or Photo a" place in the scanning area. No scan dialog box never opens. Actually I tried to reinstall the printer driver. No change. Always impossible to get a scan dialog box. In addition, when I go in the start menu and the title of the series 7600 HP: HP envy, I click on the HP Scan icon. After a long wait, a dialog box appears that says: "Cannot communicate with Scanner", and it offers a few options. The first is to activate the device (printer), and then on; the second, control cables (its wireless operation); the third: try the software "fix." Happy to report that after stopping then on and running assistant printer again, this time by pressing the "scan a Photo Document' results in the appearance of a dialog box to make the changes that I've been looking for.

HP6700 printer: unable to connect to the router wireless D - Link DI-514 when the router Broadcast SSID is set to no. My MAC laptop and HP laptop both work with the set SSID on no. If I change the router Wireless SSID Broadcast is YES, then the printer HP6700 can connect to the wireless router. I set up the printer it saying that the SSID and password have been, the same as both of my laptops, but it connects ever, unless I have change the router to broadcast the SSID. Help!

Have you tried to update the firmware on the DI-514?

You can also try to set a static IP address on the printer, and then assign the printer to the list of DHCP static in the interface of the router.
To give a static IP address to your printer:
-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') 250
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS. It's Google DNS. You can choose a different external DNS if you wish.
    -Click 'apply '.
Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that you remove and re - add the printer to your Mac.
