Unable to start after the installation of Windows updates

original title: windows update 10/11/2011.

When I install the updates above that my pc does not restart, I restore it to before the update and my itunes icon disappears.

I installed both times and the same thing happened twice, am now a little worried if you want to try again or what to do next.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, but nothing technical massively please!

Thank you

Nigel.

Hello Nigel,

I would recommend installing either of these updates at the same time until you see this behavior.

When this occurred, use system restore to go back to when the last update was installed and can hide the update, which is the origin of the problem.

Best regards

  • Firewall Windows disable the Internet Explorer loads Up after slow start after the installation of Windows updates

Hello, (this the mystery of on and Off and back on Windows Firewall with slow loading of programs like Internet Explorer as this all is pass it on firewall, disable the firewall, the firewall, it occurs only during starts, after he fine / but very annoying on reboots whom he accuses of my computer down) / listed below is the cause of it , and when she first started, you have a solution?

I recently installed the last 16 (High Profile) updates to security, for most security updates and updates from net framework as well as the removal of malware for windows XP tool.

After installing these updates, now my Windows Firewall turns off during 'Boot Up' on all restarts. If I try to load Internet Explorer, it will also not load up to minutes serveral / while this happens... That's fine, then finally my firewall itself loads Up quickly turns to Internet Explorer and back on during this time around the same time.

After these updates these things are happening on my computer now, it's as if there is a process running, but nothing run any virus, Trojan or worm etc just these updates caused this problem. I don't know if it updates is corrupt or not, but have tried different things as system file checker /scan etc with no luck.

    (1) computer boots to the top and seems to Load Up Fine ' until the ' or 'Look at this' but isn't, something is running in the background or process "wing unstalled" is obviously "unhooked", etc..

    2) try to load Internet Explorer last minutes and is very slow to load up, even if I 'don't load Internet Explorer' must still a long while that as in the firewall turn off for awhile some several «minutes» (way too long), before "auto turn on automatically return.

    (3) turns firewall Windows itself on "finally" as Internet Explorer finally loads upwards as well the two Internet Explorer is able to load 'definitely' and the firewall is on "finally" as many minutes later as listed above, at the same time.

This could be the cause? Only, it has begun to 'After' I ran windows update and installed the 'most recently high security updates for windows XP' there were 16 listed mainly security updates and updates of net framework as well as the software removal tool windows malware.

That's all that is changed on my system, I tried many things, nothing seems to fix this problem with my computer. I know for a fact that these updates are the cause, but am not sure that you caused it? Or how do to solve this problem, any sugguestions would be appreciated.

Please answer questions following diagnosis by number in your very next answer (no need to quote this post):

    1. what application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

2 a Norton or McAfee application already installed on the computer?

    3. do you have a Norton or McAfee free trial come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (No matter if you have never used or activated).

    4. you are using IE6, IE7 or IE8?

    5. have you ALREADY had the opportunity to do a Repair Installation of Windows XP for some reason any?

I went to the Start Menu and click on Windows Update.  (Microsoft Update is the real screen name.)  I clicked on Express - Get high-priority updates (recommended).  Microsoft Update now says the following: check the latest updates for your computer...  After a while the rescued and install updates appear; then I click on install updates.  Installation of updates window appears with this message: the updates are being installed.  Installstion status is reproduced below.  Extraction of the files sometimes on the screen.  Often I do it the short way; in other words, I click on the yellow at the bottom of the screen, and updated icon Instaliing up-to-date displays.  Long or short path, the yellow icon is displayed again after some time.  Why?  Also, why the rest yellow icon even after having this?

    Hi KathyNortonKS,

Have updates you tried to install?

    Method 1:

You can view the history of update to see if recently offered updates are installed or not.

    a. click Start, all programsand then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.

    b. on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site, click view update history. A window opens that displays the updates that have been installed or that have failed to install on the computer.

    c. If you see updates failed, double-click updates failed to check the error codes.

    Method 2:

You can read the following article and run the Fixit:

The problem with Microsoft Windows Update is not working

    Method 3:

You can also read the following article and perform a full scan on your computer by using the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

  • Unable to start the computer after the installation of Windows updates

original title: same problem with the other oddities.

I also have a computer down the update.  Although I tried several times to start the computer from the installation CD re, when I get to the page where I have options to fix or exit, locks from my computer to the top and will go no further.  Suggestions how to get the computer to boot the CD and allow me to choose the repair option without locking up?  Thank you!

I finally managed to get the reinstallation CD to load.  I also spoke with telephone tech support at Microsoft who helped me to descend KB977165 my system.  After that was removed the computer booted without error.  By MS tech, I am also running the anti-virals and malicious programs to see if they detect all the other infections.

Originally, the CD would load to the point of being able to choose between the options: continue to fix or exit.  At this point, the computer froze upwards and would not all repairs in order to remove KB977165.  Microsoft launches a call again tomorrow in order to install safety free bug so far.

    Thanks for your reply.

  • Latitude E5510 not start after the installation of Windows 7 64 bit

    Hey all,.

Recently, I tried to install Windows 7 on my brother's cell phone to try to update to Vista. The installation went well, but when he tries to restart for the first time, the screen remains empty without having to start. I tried to format the drive and try again and still nothing.

No idea what it could be?

    Silas

    Hi Silas,

My apologies for the late reply.

You can check the SATA operations in the system BIOS. Move operations SATA AHCI to ATA or vice versa, as shown in the image below:

Also be sure to remove all external devices connected to your computer and remove the SD card in it if connected.

See if it makes a difference.

1 update you tried to install?

2 have you tried to run safe modesystem restore?

  • The appearance has changed, and even the Start button is no longer a circle but the former rectangle that says start after the installation of an update.

I recently installed an update of Windows for Vista.  The appearance has changed and even the Start button is no longer a circle but the former rectangle that says start.  How can I get the old look back with on the uninstallation of the update?  Thank you

    Original title: updates

    Hello

It seems that the update was for graphics, as it changed the appearance

If the update is the problem, you will need to remove it or download and reinstall the graphics driver from your computer or the manufacturer of the graphical Web site map.

    _________________________________________

    Read this information about updates:

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

Here's how to chanage update settings, if you think it is necessary to:

"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

  • Vista Stop error message: 0XC012001D after the installation of Windows updates.

    Original title: vista stop working

    Hello

I need help on vista, because I update and restart and stop working and appear this error code:

    !! 0xc012001d! Registry\Machine\Components\DriverData...

    Hello

    1. remember the number of the update you have installed?
    2. could you give us the exact error message?
    3. Once you get this error message? Are you able to boot to the desktop?

    Method 1.
Please check if you face the same problem when recording in safe mode. It is a possibility that one of the non-Microsoft application or driver is causing this issue. Start in safe mode and make sure that us. If you are able to start properly in safe mode, we can perform a clean boot in order to find the root cause.

    Step A.
    a. restart your computer.
    b. when the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information tap the F8 on your keyboard key repeatedly until you are presented with the screen Windows Vista Advanced Boot Options.
    c. using the arrow keys, select the desired option of Mode without failure.
    d. press the Enter key on your keyboard to start in safe mode of Windows Vista.
    e. when Windows starts, you will be at a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and the Windows Vista goes into safe mode.
    f. do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

    Step B.
If it works fine in safe mode try performing a clean boot in order to find the cause root.
See the article below for instructions on how to start your computer in a clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the diagnosis is complete do not forget to reset the computer to a normal startup. Follow step 7 in the above article.

    Method 2.
Best thing you can do is to perform a system restore just before where the problem occurred.
I have listed a few articles that explain the system restore in Windows 7.
    System Restore: frequently asked questions
