Unable to start by Satellite C50-B-154

I was unable to boot my laptop I did a Windows Update. The vehicle currently has 8.1 on it. Once I get it has error code: 0xc0000185, a way to fix this without a backup drive?

Wouldn't mind not normally, but it's just out of warranty in 3 weeks! during the year had nothing but problems with it. My old Toshiba lasted more than 6 years.

Thanks in advance

My C55 B5101 did the same thing after update, but have only black screen. Laptop brand new, received on Christmas day.

  • Windows XP Home unable to start on Satellite P30

    Hello

    I use WinXP-H on a Satellite P30 (7 years).
The screen died earlier, so I have been using an external monitor, but it's a problem for another time.

A few days ago Windows has been updated. After all 4hours, it restarted itself - do not know if it has finished to day I was away from my office. Windows did not start, just hung on black screen boot WinXp.

I turned off with the power button, left for a while and tried to restart. The first, a few times I could access the screen "Safe Mode, last known good Config etc" with F8, but he only got to Windows once, where it froze.

At the start, only the F2 & F12 keys work now (for the blue BIOS screen and boot options). Tent to start HD causes not normal clicking noises then the "a disk error occurred. CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart message. " I tried to use the Toshiba Recovery disk, but it seems that you wipe the files left on the hard disk, even if she managed to reinstall Windows.

I had saved most of my files, but there are some that I had not succeeded in yet, so I would try to keep them. Forums, it seems that there are several possible solutions:

    1. start from the restore disc Toshiba to format the HD and maybe recover some of the files later with file recovery software.
    2. get an installation of WinXP-H disc, which seems to have a recovery program.
    3. remove the HD and connect it to another computer to delete my files. I'm not experienced by removing computers, but would give it a go, if it was the best option.

    Soon, any advice appreciated.
    Al

In my opinion the easiest way to access the HARD disk is to connect it as external drive to the other PC.
Removing the disc HARD is not so complicated that you can do it alone. If you need help with him let us know.

What you need is the external IDE HDD case. You can buy it on ebay and it is cheap.

In the end I have to say that I think that the HARD drive is faulty, maybe only some sectors do not work and thereby Windows gets stuck on some steps.

I had this old Satellite it there a long time, in red. It is a very nice machine with its fabulous. :)

    Thank you

    Hi Lisa,

From what you say it sounds as if your hard drive is certainly u/s, so there is no point in allowing the CHKDSK to continue further. I think that you need to replace the hard drive (or have an ASP to do for you if you prefer) and then reinstall your system from the recovery CD.

    Kind regards

  • After the installation of recovery, I am unable to start my Satellite C650

I had to restore the c drive using the recovery disc HARD yesterday because of a virus, it appeared to solve the problem

Now when I turn on the laptop today it downloaded the windows updates and then said that it is impossible to boot up my computer.

    What should I do now?

    What should do?
Start Notepad in SafeMode (F8 at startup) and try to roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool.

If this will not help reinstall OS.

  • Unable to start 4070cdt satellite

My 4070cdt is not start the system. all that appeared on the screen is "ready for ec/kbc update"

    How to upgrade the ec/kbc?

If I remember correctly, you hold down the TAB key to update the EC/KBC by using the DOS BIOS disk.

Which means that you may need a new keyboard, the TAB key can be stuck.

Or if the laptop requires you to update EC/KBC due to corruption or something, take a look at the Toshiba site for a 4070CDT DOS BIOS update disk.

  • Satellite Pro C50-A-154 - battery after automatic update problems

    Hello world!

First of all, I must apologize for my bad English, if it is not as good as be... after that, I could start to tell you all what happened to me in the last few weeks...

I have an a C50-A-154 Toshiba Satellite Pro and I use it for stuff like watching youtube videos, listening to music, and do this kind of thing than a normal user.

A few weeks ago a Toshiba Tempro Alert remember that there are software updates avaliables to download for my laptop, so I installed them, I normally unplug my battery when I have the power cord plugged in, so I didn't realize after a week after that my battery was not recognized as it should be for my toshiba.

Initially, windows said that it is fully charged and no need to continue to load, so I unplugged the power cord and the laptop shutted down (with battery connected and therefore be charged to 100%).

When I plugged it again the power supply cable, windows said that the battery was empty and told them, hip but not load...

At the same time, a new toshiba update was released, this time was for the bios, if I have that it is probabbly fix the problem with the battery, so I updated the BIOS and windows says that the battery was full charged... I couldn't believe...!

But the system always goes down when yo unplugg the AC cord, and now battery said once again that it is empty...

Yesterday was a new update for the Bios, so I give another chance, but nothing has changed... I can't use the battery, and I have no warranty, so I don't know what to do...

I read a lot of posts on battery of problems lately, in the forums of europe and US forums... maybe it's a software problem? Maybe toshiba boys don't have any idea about this problem?

    Thanks for your replies!

    Hello

I think it might be a software related issue.
In Device Manager, you will find the battery input compatible Micorsoft ACPI method. It belongs to the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface.

I recommend you to uninstall the three topics that you might find in the battery area.

Reboot the laptop. After restarting again, the system should install all devices removed once more.
Usually, this should help to unravel the question in the case of its just system problem

  • Satellite P15-S420: unable to start Windows XP

I hope that all makes sense... I'm unable to start after the start page of Windows XP. I think I have assumed that the computer turn off when there is no. The battery may have exhausted and when I plugged it back in and tried to start it would not.

When the Windows start page is in place, it seems that HD works for awhile, but stops and goes no further. I am able to boot in safe mode and have tried to restore with no effect. When I click on Toshiba Manager of power supply in the control panel I get "Policy of NoteBook Load Fail" this could be a problem.

    What do you think???
    Oh, I have a Satellite P15-S420.

    Hello

In my opinion, this power saver error message occurs because you started the laptop in safe mode. In this case, the OS doesn't use the Toshiba drivers that are required for the use of additional applications.
You write about the restore procedure. Have you tried to install the laptop with the supplied restore CD? If this isn't the case, then try it.

  • Problem starting on several Satellite C50 - C70 models

The members of the forum and Toshiba, Hello

Recently, I sold several laptop Toshiba Satellite C50-70 and Satellite Pro series.

With most of them, I knew starting problems.
When turn on/off the laptop, I see the Toshiba Logo and then nothing happens.
I have to turn it on and turn it on again so he can start on Windows. (7 or 8.1)

Sometimes, I have to power OFF / ON several times.

What I see is that the NumLock light does nothing. If the system starts, I see this LED flashes on / off 2 times. So, I can see on forehand if the laptop to boot Windows or hangs at the Toshiba Logo.

    Anyone having the same problems?

I put t know if anyone has had this problem but I guess that if the books are new and covered under the Toshiba warranty, you must contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country to check the material part.

The Toshiba start screen freeze means that the POST (power on self-test) could not be transmitted correctly and it is especially a sign of hardware malfunction.

The point is that Toshiba Satellite C50-A630 was equipped with the Intel Pentium processor * N3520 * belongs to the new * Intel Bay Trail * standard.

It s a new technology that allows the use of systems capable of UEFI as Win 8 or 8.1 Win

I think they are Intel drivers, but have failed to find a cure for this problem.
Other than a real slow start it seems no problem.
Am that I the only one having this problem and everyone know the cure?

So, you understand where the problem is but why didn t you have installed graphic drivers intel one another? I mean, you know where is the problem and you can correct it.

Otherwise, if a reinstallation does not help, it would be better to completely recover your system to eliminate the problem.

  • Only the C partition on the new Satellite C50-B-14Z

    Hello

I'm not an experienced user, but I'll do my best to explain the problem.

I bought Toshiba Satellite C50-B-14Z with 8.1 installed Windows, and when starting the system, I noticed that there is only one partition of hard drive, the C partition. When you enter the disk management, I see there are 4 basic partitions already (500 GB disk):

    -Recovery - 1 GB
    -EFI system - 100 MB
    -Recovery - 10.97 GB
-C (boot, page file, crash dump, primary partition) - 453,57 GB

They are all primary partitions, and I read on the forums that you can have only 4 those primary, so I can't add one more to the D partition, I would like to have.
Possibility that I offered in "actions" is to create a virtual hard drive, but I guess that is not the same thing.
I also read that you can create new partition if you have "unallocated" space (partition), but all 4 before indicated are those primary and not affected.

Then, the next opportunity that I read on is to do a right-click on C and "reduce volume", and then create new partition from the rest of the space (if I understand it is good), but then I read in Windows Help:
"When you shrink a partition, all regular files are automatically transferred to the disk to create the new unallocated space. There is no need to reformat the drive to shrink the partition. » ... "If the partition is a raw partition (that is, a lack of a file system) that contains data (for example, a database file)", reducing the partition may destroy the data. ""

Normally, I have never tested a large part with the C partition, and now I don't know if I would destroy some system files while doing this "shrinkage" and I don't have the CD installation for the system, so I can't fix it if I ruin something.

    Please advise...

Yes, this is the right way to have more than one partition. You can define what capacity should partition C and any free space can be "convert" to the D partition.

One last thing: don't forget to create a recovery (DVD or USB) media. It is very important to have recovery image back-up.

  • Satellite C50 - A - the upgrade to win little 8.1 win7

    Hello

I was wondering, I have the Windows 8.1, upgrade of the media that I had for my Toshiba Satellite C50 - A computer. Upgrade to 8.1 Windows and got the upgrade DVD, came with the laptop. So I do it just insert the DVD, click on Set up, or do I need to go back to factory settings, then insert the DVD and as a blind it student, will need sighted assistance.

Any help, advice, tips of people made this before. I have a 1 TB USB drive Toshiba external hard, so have saved all that and added a number of things today, but saved the rest of my stuff, docs, College work, emails, my settings for RSS feeds, contacts for outlook 2010, programs, music, TV, movies, bookmarks, etc, so all advice.

Going to do it tomorrow. make a programming course and the Professor uses windows 8.1, and need to develop windows blinds and windows phone apps.

    Marvin from Adelaide, Australia.

The exact specification of your model is unknown to me, but I assume that you got your machine with recovery disc Win8.1 so if you want to use Win8.1, you must start your computer with the recovery disc and make clean OS install.

I don't know if you got your machine with Win7 preinstalled initially. If so create recovery media (DVD or USB) using pre-installed recovery disc creator Toshiba before you start the installation of Win8.1.
This created recovery media, you can use if you want to have the machine with Win7 again.

  • Installation of recovery on Satellite C50-A-1Jn

My son has a Satellite C50-A-1john and was doing a restore of the partition of drive hard, but stopped at halfway.

When it tries to start, it receives the message "no boot device - please reboot."

He did not create a floppy disk to restore his laptop, but I found where I can order one from Toshiba. Before I spend £30, I want to know if it will restore his laptop.

Recovery image installation can not be interrupted. Now, the laptop is confused and unbootable. Problem is that interrupted recovery installation cannot continue, cannot be started from the beginning and also not ended correctly.

What you need to do now is to get the installation of recovery disc and start the installation again.

After doing this you will have factory again and everything works OK.
Biggest mistake has been that media recovery is not created in the past.
