  I hope someone can help me understand why a file size can be different when it is copied from one source, pasted on another hard drive or on an external drive?

  My job requires me to backup databases to an external source before making changes to a program / database to protect the info before any troubleshooting begins / changes are made. These databases can be several GB in size and take a relatively long time to copy depending on the size and the transfer speed, but when I compare the properties of each folder, after that the copy is often made that the sizes don't match exactly. Remember the difference may be that some Ko Mo, but nevertheless, this could represent information data, planning data or image data that must be preserved. Can someone explain why/how it happens and if it is a way to ensure an exact copy is made every time so I don't have to go back and make a second or third attempt to copy files on?

  Copy/paste and drag-and - d├⌐poser are no error checking.  bad, bad bad.

  A file that takes up 100 MB exactly on a 500 GB HD with 4 k sectors will not take the same place on a 1 to Hd with 8 k sectors.  There may be a slight varience between the two due to the size of area if for example the las, bit of info (it could be as little as 1 byte) is placed in an 8 k sector it will often say he used throughout the sector.

  Since there is no apparent error checking if a network problem deletes the data it is not copied.

  Same with ram

• Not able to scan with the preview after upgrade from Mac OS Sierra...

  After upgrading to Mac OS Sierra. I'm unable to use the preview to scan.  Before this upgrade, it worked fine.  The HP scanner software does NOT work something like OS 10.8 or 10.9.  Preview worked perfectly so far.  If anyone knows how to solve this problem, your contribution will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

  Have you tried scanning with Capture of Image instead? It worked for me.

  Generally, programs such as Photoshop can not be simply copied but must be "installed" on another computer.  Installation involves more than a simple copy of the files to their appropriate locations, but also set the registry values and registration of .dll files and sometimes services facility.  I recommend that you get out your original installation disk and re-install the program properly.

  Agrivated after myself, I found the problem.  And it's simple!  I hope it works for everyone, always in need of response.  So I upgraded to Win Xp 32 bit to 7 64 bit.  I had a 39 + GB Easy Transfer file.  I was getting the same error, «...» "Cannot open a file... "Well, to solve this problem, I opened the Transfer Wizard, thenm go through your files, using the options"Advanced"and my limited to a size of transfer to 2 GB or less.  It could be a tedious job, but it should work for you, as it did for me.  You can experiment a bit more with the measures, but I've just stuck with 2 GB and was fine.  Good luck to you all

  Hello! I accidentally deleted files from a memory card and send it to get recovered recently.   If none of the programs are able to read these files, then this means that these files are corrupted or they don't have enough information to read in them to be accessed by any program.

  I think that they could not properly have been recovered.

  Right-click on any pdf file / go to properties / general tab, select open with and change Acrobat, select drive as the default application to open pdf files.
