Under Vista, get a message that Windows Defender is disabled
Have Vista. I'm trying to manage the startup. Download the message that Windows Defender is not enabled. When try get access WD 0x800106ba. Tried to download but thern said already have. Can not access all the programs error ID is unknown. How to solve? Is how important it? Only Essentials. BUT how to access start to clean? Help pls?

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.
There is nothing to worry.
Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.
If you are using one of the above AntiVirus programs, this Information from David O - Support Engineer shows you how to manually enable Windows Defender (disregard information from uninstalling; not possible in Vista):
"Go to start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Look for Windows Defender.
Right click and select Properties , ensure that Startup Type is automatic.
Once modified, click apply and OK.
Quit and restart your computer. Check the back take the same path to confirm that Windows Defender has started"

error. On those which do you use, including everything that you have ever even those uninstalled (remainders
may cause problems). AVG and others have been known to disable Windows Defender.Start - type in the search box - Services - find top - Right Click - Run as Admin

I can't open attachments on emails sent to my email for Microsoft Outlook - it has recently started to happen. I tried to change the security settings in Outlook but they seem to be on the normal and the option to block potentially harmful messages is not checked. Why you are posting in the forum, IE? Maybe the reason why you try to use the CP is to enter Internet Options? If so, you can do it without the help of Windows Explorer (at least on your operating system) starting (using the Task Manager if necessary): control.exe inetcpl.cpl
Otherwise what your problem probably means is that you have added something new to the root of the control panel which is not compatible with your OS, causing thus the Windows Explorer (not IE) crashing. In this case, the same way you could get in Add Remove programs without involving Windows Explorer by starting: control.exe appwiz.cpl
You can get help more informed by post on a forum that specializes in performance and Maintenance of your operating system.

1. disable any antivirus software or security, you have running on your computer. Looking for software to disable that contains a firewall.
2. click on START
3. Type "cmd" (without the quotes). Right-click on the result at the top of the menu START and select 'run as administrator '.

My son bought this laptop Toshiba Satellite with windows 7 ultimate and gave our grandchildren for Christmas two years ago. They never used so it brought and I got from my son. On startup, I get a message that windows is not genuine. I've repeatedly tried to activate with the product key on the label of MS on the back of the computer laptop, but message still there. · How long have you been experiencing this problem?
· Have you done other recent changes on the computer?
· What is the exact error message/code?
· The problem occurs with the entire application?
I suggest you try the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.
Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists.
If the problem persists in safe mode run clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode
Step 2: No detection system file checker (SFC).
