Under Vista, I have a potential hack profile showing as "UpdatusUser".

I have a minor problem, I guess. My issue is a potential hack profile. On my computer under the parental control tab, there is a profle who goes by the name of "UpdatusUser". The newspaper in quantities changed for this profile. At one time he had read about 18 connection to almost 40 hours. Now he only read 4 connections to 11 hours. It does not appear on the tab user accounts, is not available in the users folder in the hard drive even after I deleted the empty folder. The sad part is that I can not remove this item and that it is password protected. What looks like it sounds to you guys and how do I get rid of him?

The rogue user profile names are different, but the troubleshooting steps should work nevertheless.

    Hello

How to remove a Vista user account - even if you do this, you should check as well
    for malware.
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/93026-user-account-delete.html

Even if you do not see the virus on your other profiles, it might be in areas that will subsequently
cause problems in the other profiles. It would be preferable to eliminate malware from the machine
that can be done without using the profile infected from an ADMIN account.

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be harder to detect as
    the cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run
the regular windows when you can.

TDSSKiller.exe. - Download the desktop - so go ahead and right-click on it - RUN AS ADMIN
It will display all the infections in the report after you run - if it will not run changed the name of
TDSSKiller.exe to tdsskiller.com. If she finds something or not does not mean that you should not
check with the other methods below.

  • Help! HP Toolbox does not work under Vista

When nearly two years ago, I added a Vista PC to my network, I found that the HP Toolbox software - necessary to monitor the level of status and toner for my LaserJet 1320 - wouldn't install or run under Vista.  I contacted HP and they told me "us working on this and should have a new version available soon.  I regularly, come back and still would get a similar response.  Now that I replaced my last XP machine with a Vista computer, I'm more in need of this utility than ever.  I sent HP Technical Support and I was told ' sorry, pal, but you're out of luck.  The 1320 is no longer a current model so can't stand us it anymore. ' (With a strong commitment to customer support, I'm surprised they even bother to release the drivers!)

Does anyone have a fix for this problem?

After reading some other forums, I found that when you print a Test page through printer menu options, the page displays the ink levels.

  • Why 2 partitions of OS on HP dv9628 laptop computer under Vista Home Premium?

I was just checking my wife of the older HP Pavilion dv9628nr under Vista Home Premium with 2 HARD drives.  I didn't even know he had 2 HARD drives.  I opened the case to make sure.

Here is a screenshot of disk for system management.  I have a few questions:

    1. Why is there a system operating on each HARD drive partition?

2 are 2 necessary and deleted maybe?

Generally however, the C: drive is not always your primary. This may change if based on the installation program. The installer in this book, could be Raid. This is where the 2 drives are used to create a combined drive. Based on the laptop being adverstised as a drive of 240 GB, but with 2 120 GB drives in it. This is most likely how it was setup. To know for sure you'd have to check to see if this feature is enabled in the BIOS.  Before you change any settings that you would like to make sure that you have recovery discs and backed up all the content. As having the OS on a single disk, you will need to disable Raid in bios and probably to format both drives. Then reinstall the operating system on you get (the one listed as C:, to avoid complications).

This article (from ehow.com) can help with your Bios check, so that you can see if Raid is enabled and if you choose to disable. How to disable Raid BIOS

I hope you're able to help.

  • Move the Users folder to another drive or partition under Vista 64

I want to move my full users folder to another drive or partition under Vista 64-bit.

I found these instructions to do with Windows 7 and confirm that they work very well on a Windows 7 computer I set up yesterday.
ROBOCOPY, RMDIR, MKLINK programs all exist in Vista and have all the command line switches such as specified in section of Windows 7.
I want to use junction points as described in the article, rather than messing around with search-and-replace in registry. The use of junction points is cleaner and easier to reverse if I ever need to move the Users back folder to its original location.
These same instructions for Windows 7 works with Vista 64 bit to move my users folder to a different hard disk or partition?

Well, I couldn't wait any longer for a response.

So I gave him a test and Windows 7 instructions work perfectly with Vista 64 - bit word. Hope it will be useful to someone else.
  • FrontPage 2003 will run under Vista?

I have a few sites I've built for non - profits using FrontPage and maintained on the ISP with the download HTTP in Frontpage. Since it is a purely voluntary effort, I really don't want to spend a lot of time rebuilding with the help of another product.

However, I need to replace my current computer, and it will mean moving into the universe of Visa's operating system.

Only in a time perspective, it would be my advantagte I could use Frontpage under Vista. Which will work?

Yes, it will work.  Office 2003 and later versions are all compatible with Vista.
