Undetectable virus

Does anyone know about "undetectable" viruses which redirect you your wesite & you constantly make advertising popups?  In addition, Internet Explorer keeps opening several versions, one above the other. McAfee cannot detect a virus. I use Windows XP.  Thank you.

You probably have some browser hijacking.  You can use two specialized programs to combat this phenomenon.

First, install spybot and inoculate your system.

Then, install hijackthis and scan.

the scan will produce a log of all distracting.  However, most of them is useful.

Instead, focus on level R0 or R1 entries that refer only to the browser.

in these lines, you'll probably find references to sites that you were diverted for that.  but should also see a number of them pertaining to microsoft and msn and bing or.

my suggestion is to remove/repair all that do not apply to microsoft, msn and bing.

    Hello!

I wonder if I have a virus on my computer none of my antivirus (AVG and Windows Defender) programs have been unable to detect. My screensaver lights up rarely, and when that happens, sometimes it goes back offshore without me touching the computer. Other times, my computer goes into mode 'sleep', and it has not been long since I was on the computer. There are moments where I'm not using my computer it makes noises like he works hard. Oh, and although I tried to remove as much as I can from my computer, it seems that he does not have a difference in the amount of available space. When I scan with AVG & Windows Defender, they say that everything is fine. I also downloaded a malware Microsoft thing, and found no problem, either.

A month ago, AVG has detected three Trojan virus. They were in a temporary file, so I was able to get rid of them by deleting this file and then empty my trash. Is it possible that they are always LURKING somewhere affecting things? I know that these virus messed Trojan horse my photo files.

    Thanks for any help!

  • Satellite Pro A200 (PSAF4A) - HARD drive stops and the computer crashes

    Hello

It's my first post in this forum, but certainly not my first issue

I recently had to re - install Windows Vista on my laptop because I had an undetectable virus that attacked Windows and made him useless.
Before that, I had many, many startup errors and windows crashes, but which were preventable or fixable. After the re - install, I noticed that windows stability was much better until recently.

I have not changed the settings or anything what so ever on my computer laptop which could affect the performance somehow, but I have a new problem.

If I have my computer running, performing tasks of base for a few hours I notice that performance and all of a sudden my computer completely stops responding.
The disk shows no signs of life after this point, and his only solution is a "disruptive Shutdown.
This appears in the reliability monitor and performance that all this, there is no input error, and nothing is done after.

I also noticed if either windows defender or other my antivirus runs a system scan that my performance is reduced to the point where I can't run a simple task like opening an Explorer window. This also translates to total non-response. This never happened before a week ago and now it happens every time.

These two started within the past few days and there is no clear reasoning behind it. My inactivity of the processor is always the same, no new processors added and no settings changed.

This could be a problem with Windows, my HARD drive, my CPU or something worse?

Is there a reason why is happening and is there a solution either of these problems?

First of all, you reinstall Windows with the Toshiba recovery disc or disc of Microsoft?

It's strange and not easy to say what's wrong, but in your case I would test the RAM and HARD drive.

There are special tools to test the following:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
    http://Memtest86.com/

On the two Web site, you can download a CD image. Burn it to a CD, start with him and then you can test parts.

    Good luck!

  • Windows vista family premium sp2 won't start at all either

I have a Windows Vista Home Premium, which was very rude! It crashes just before the Welcome screen and rest like this in normal mode and last good configuration. In the three security modes, files stop loading right after C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\aswRvrt.sys. The computer was purchased, everything as it came out, was super fast and since I got the Internet (LAN) on this subject, sometimes it goes really slow, refuses to boot and gets a major undetectable virus once a week only from google.com, youtube.com and Craigslist.com, which I know that Craigslist is full of virus, but whenever I go to block the program that I use freezes and crashes. I tried to boot from a disc, which it refused to boot from, even after changing the BIOS settings. Also when I use it on a date limit, she loves just freezing and crashing and threatened to get a bat with its screen. I'm not not ready to make a clean start, as I have already had to replace twice RAM and HARD drive once. The first HARD drive, we had, contained more than 3 years of photos and data, had to replace because of the Prime Minister being VERY lazy avg. Now I use avast internet security which is also slacking off the coast. Our computer does not come with a boot and repair the drive. It is not over heating and is free of dust, as I just cleaned it. The only thing that made everyone on the computer before it crashed was plants vs. zombies, Craigslist, google.com, youtube, and cars.com unless there is something I don't know. Any help would be a miracle.

    Hello

You say that you can not it Boot from a disk even after changing the Boot order in the Bios.

Remove the hard drive and it slave in another computer and do a Malware Scan on it.

Use RKill to stop malicious processes

RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/

Then, download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware in Mode safe mode with networking:

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

    "Utility of anti-rootkit TDSSKiller.

    http://support.Kaspersky.com/5350?El=88446

    See if that fixes it.

Otherwise you can always back up your data using this method and then do a clean install.

    Saving your files:

You can remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive USB enclosure or it slave in another computer > plug it into another computer > and try to read and copy your data in this way.

  • What is the prevalence of viruses, malware, etc., to be hidden and undetectable by anti-virus software?

    • As before, when my computer when my computer has been infected, I get a svchost.exe error, repeatedly, whenever I restart the computer. The infection has been discovered that the last time by my anti-virus software, because it was hidden.  It was a computer expert on this forum who told me my computer was infected by svchost.exe repeated error messages that I received.  I ran my Avast software, anti-malware software from MSFT Security Center, Win Defender, etc. this time, and it has detected no infections.  (Yes, I know what to do to pass this message means not necessarily my computer is infected, but the tech guy said that it is likely, given that the error message appeared on several occasions).  How detect and destroy the virus/malware hidden, etc?
    • Also, if anyone can answer another question... I was told that it is not recommended that I have two programs of anti-virus software, which I do - Win Defender and Avast (I guess they may conflict).  I tend to want to keep Avast, but would like to know if I have to keep Win Defender instead, because it is a Win a Win system program.  If I've got this me getting rid of one of them, is it recommended that I both uninstall and then reinstall one of them?

A person help would be appreciated!

    Thnx, Dharma

WHAT I HAVE: Win XP Media Center, MS Office 7 Professional (used at home), IE8, Outlook 7, HP w / 32-bit dual core processor, latest version of Avast & Win Defender, Srvc Pack 2 and 3 (although I know that I don't need 3 because I have not upgraded to Win 7, but it won't let me uninstall it!) and regularly updates Win.

PS Please ask questions if you have, before you answer, so it will be less likely that I'll get the wrong answers that don't relate directly my questions! (Can say you that has already happened?  (LOL).

You pouvez have a type of rootkit of malware infection.  Rootkits can transform and change of identity on your OS (and are difficult to detect and remove) and many computing professionals recommend a reinstall of the operating system in order to ensure that the rootkit is removed.

Follow the suggestions in the Brian - post.  The link that he provided is an excellent reference.   If you have a rootkit, TDSS Killer or one of the other programs listed pourrait be able to remove it.

    You can also:

You can get free help in the removal of malware from MS Support here: http://supportservices.microsoft.com/support/services/virus_malware_removal

If you are in North America, you can call the MS Support to 866-727-2338 for help with infections of virus and spyware.

For international information see your subsidiary local technical support site.

Or get assistance from Avast at: http://www.avast.com/support

You have SP3 on your Win XP OS and if you plan to switch to Win 7 make sure that your processor and RAM will manage Win 7... with your history of technology issues a reformatting/clean install of Win 7 would be a good idea.  Because of the possibility of conflicts, I do not recommend using Windows Defender with Avast or any other resident AV program.  Suggest uninstall you Windows Defender in Control Panel.  MSE and several other AV programs require the removal of Windows Defender in XP (or disabling the Defender in Vista and Win 7).

    Kind regards...

  • Trojan virus that is not detected by the antivirus program

I have a desktop hp pavilion a1600, OS is windows xp.  I was unable to open windows a few days earlier because of a "corrupted file".

I did a repair that allowed me to open the windows and go online, but programs were listed as still installed, but I have been unable to open one of them.  I uninstalled and reinstalled but still the programs did not properly. I ran programs antivirus, malware and spyware, but the computer still does not properly. I tried a download to see if it works and I was able to download, but impossible to run or save the file.  Therefore, I reformatted my computer (everything went anyway and tried to hook up to the internet, but now my modem will not yet configure.  I learned by my support for my modem (actiontec M1000) after 3 hours to try to do this I got a hack trojan virus that was undetectable by antivirus software.  Any suggeestions?

  • A problem of virus scam or reality?

I received a phone call tonight of a person in India claiming to represent the "official Software Services Provider for Windows. Allowing something to edit the database of e-mail will result by it becomes corrupted.

If you use Time Machine, restore the email by "entering Time Machine" of in Mail and choose a time to restore. Then, just delete suspicious e-mails in the usual way. Exit full screen before entering Time Machine.
