Unexpected error opening the catalog

I started a trial of lightroom cc for a few days and everything worked very well. A day or two later, my computer has not started properly and used a restore point.

Now Lightroom said there was an error unexpected opening of the catalog. I use windows 7. There are some similar positions, but I couldn't get to the bottom of it.

Can I uninstall and reinstall the whole program? Any tips or suggestions?

Hello

I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall Lightroom once.

Please let us know if it helps.

Kind regards

  • Error importing the catalog

    Hi all

Earlier, I exported a number of images of my main catalog to a separate working catalog.  Now, I'm ready to merge these changes and additional images in the main catalog.  I opened the catalog main, selected the catalog import and select the catalogue of work.  LR cranks for a while, and then he shows me the dialog box asking how to handle the new images, where I select to copy new images in the catalog.  I then start the import and quickly get an "Unexpected error" dialog box and import process stops.

When I use the Mac Console application, I see the following error messages:

    Paul,

To isolate the problem, I would try a couple of things:

    • Export catalogue of work in the catalog in another, and then import them from the exported catalog
    • Import the catalog of work in a newly created catalog

  • Cannot open the catalog

I am unable to use Organizer in elements or Prime Minister. An error in says: "cannot open the catalog. An internal program error has occurred. »

I tried to reinstall and update but the problem persists. I use the Version 12 on Windows 8.1.

I found similar issues in the community, but they all seem to be unanswered. Help to solve this problem would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello again

By trail and error, I found a solution to 99%.

Right-click on the desktop, the icon of elements.

    Select Troubleshoot Compatibility.

    Select troubleshoot program

Select a problem (I used the other)

Select the Version of Windows (Windows 8 for me)

    Select the Test program

If it works, which he did in my case, save the settings.

This seems to have solved my problem, except that I now get an extra screen at the opening of the elements to allow the program to make changes to my computer. I can live with that.

When I get time I will check if there is any Adobe or updates to Windows that will make this unnecessary step.

I hope this helps other people with the same problem.

Thanks for responding and making suggestions.

  • Cannot open the catalog on CD

I need to export a catalog for a college assignment and burn it to CD. The export had a slight hiccup with conflicts in the metadata to dng files 2, but I just ran over the data. The main problem is when I burned the files on a CD and tried to open the catalog on CD, I get the following error:

"lightroom cannot open the catalog named"..." "" located on the DVD RW drive (e) volume because Lightroom can't save the changes to this place.

What I am doing wrong? I use LR3.4 and under Win Vista on my laptop at home. Is this a problem with my pc? Can I use the Mac to College instead? I need to know as soon as the transfer is due May 11, 2012 (on Friday).  Thanks for any input.

A catalog cannot exist on a CD and be used as a catalog must be writable and are not CD. You can copy the catalog from the CD to the computer, that you have the CD to use however.

The best option is to use a flash drive (USB key) for that well that rather than a CD.

Apparently, Windows has a problem to download files larger than 50 MB.  To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

In a security update, Microsoft has limited the size of files that can be downloaded from the remote folders to 50 MB. To increase this, you must change a registry setting.

    1. Download FileSizeLimit.reg
    2. Double click on FileSizeLimit.reg
    3. If necessary, enable the registry editor to run
    4. Click the Yes button to allow the changes need to be made
    5. Click OK
    6. Restart your computer

  • I just upgraded to window 7 for windows does not start Lightroom 10 6 because it cannot open the catalog or one of my backups

I just upgraded to window 7 for windows 10. 6 Lightroom does not start because it cannot open the catalog or one of my backups

Yes, once the user account is the upgrade to windows 10 have permission on the folder of photo issue, which prevents the Lightroom to create the necessary temp file when the catalog is launched.

This is the reason why I asked to copy the catalog file to another location to narrow down the reason for the problem.

    Thank you

    The URL should be:

If a, b, systems are connected, you can use one or a b machine name in the url, and then access the corresponding machine catalog objects.
