Unexpected shutdown of Windows (blue screen)
New installation of all-in-one Photosmart 6510 seemed to go fine (try USB first, since will have the ability to scan). A page prints fine, but something about the synthesis immediately after (some final development communication, or maybe even the 'Rewards' popup?) causes the unexpected shutdown of Windows with the blue screen. No further assistance was suggested by Windows. No errors were detected by the doctor printer hp application that I downloaded.
Hello
First - just for your information, you can also scan using the wireless connection.
If you have a new PC, maybe you have a USB 3.0 on this subject?
If so, be sure to plug the printer into the USB 2.0 port as the HP device does not support the connection USB3.

Have had problems since 31/12/09. Tech replaced Dell hard drive 14/01/10 because all software solutions did not resolve various problems, including the screen black and white letters indicating the mode without failure, or count down the regular opening. System Restore has used several times, all software removed and replaced. New Quickbooks reinstalled two times 10, it usually starts up quickly. I was told not to turn it off, just let it run. It automatically goes into sleep mode, it still does not start correctly. Last message is that Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown; Windows can check online for a solution to the problem. Problem event name: bluescreen

Hello;
Let me welcome you on the HP forums!
I read your post on your PC not start and I wanted to help.I wish I got good news for you, but I did not, as it sounds a bit like the hard drive has failed, what is to be expected if this PC XP - era still has the original drive.
We have a few troubleshooting steps to test the drive but they only work on recent PC.
What could work is by pressing ESC, or F1 or F2, when you start to see if one of these enter you a Setup screen, and if they do, choose to run the diagnostics from there to go to disk.
If the drive has failed, there is bad news (sorry!) -in that HP long leaves Jersey recovery media for XP - era machines, so there is nothing you can order from HP to restore your PC to a new drive.
Given that HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you should check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/
And if not enough bad news, I guess that the hard drive in your XP machine has something known as an IDE interface. You can tell by looking at the back of the car where the data cable connects. If it is a large flat cable (about 2 inches wide) and there are a bunch of small pins where it connects on the disc, then it IS an IDE drive and those who are practically impossible to find, as the industry player opted for SATA disks making a few years back.
Sorry... but it's time to think seriously to switch to a newer PC.
Good luck
I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

Hello
I have a Compaq laptop with Windows Vista operating system running. (Sorry for the lack of technical information, I know very little computers!) I had a lot of problems with my laptop recently, with possible virus causing my library itunes remove, the data execution Protection out a few programs, my firewall is disabled when I reboot it and even AVG detect 3 virus Rootkit_SSDT_Hook. Today, I ran a scan complete antivirus on my laptop with Microsoft Security Essentials. Several hours later, the virus scan was almost complete. Suddenly, I got a blue screen. The only thing that I remember that the blue screen read was that he said that I might have to remove recently installed programs etc. and a problem has been detected, so he was arrested for not to damage my computer. To restart, he says he is recovered from unexpected shutdown. That's what he interprets:

Update Windows (blue screen)
Hey everybody.
At the vicious Windows Update which caused the apocalyptic 'blue screen of death', finished or is still on the list of the updates of Windows?

Windows blue screen update?
If I was on my pc the other day and all of a sudden everything stops and went straight to a blue screen. I couldn't understand what caused it, but I remembered the other day there was an update of windows, it is possible that windows update somehow result and everybody knows it?
I don't have the blue screen error code unfortunately; is there anyway that I can get the log for it or something?
I am running windows 7 64 bit.

This phenomenon was related to your video driver. I remove this driver and install the latest driver available, even if it is the same date that the drivers are corrupt

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 2-1/2 years, with XP Media Center. Last night at the start, he went to the Blue Screen of Death. I tried to restart about 10 times, each time by selecting a variety such as 'use last known good Configuration, Safe Mode, Etc.' nothing works. Get to the point where the windows flag is waving in the wind (may be waving goodbye?) and then hangs at Blue Screen of Death.
To make matters worse, this is the only hard drive, I have not saved for a few months and I can't seem to find my recovery/boot drive... I swear to you that I made a copy when you are prompted 2-1/2 years ago?
in any case, I started press F12 and got to the dell diagnostic interface. I ran the tests in the Section of the blue screen, and almost all categories of hard drives contained errors. I tried Googling some of them and almost all of the shots indicate disk hard death is imminent.
So, anyone have any ideas how I can:
1 retrieve the data
2. get Windows transferred to another hard drive (without having to buy a whole new copy)
Any help is appreciated deeply... only 3 weeks until final and just lost a huge amount of assignments for my grad. school...
Thank you

I formatted the lot assuming that I had done something wrong and it was fine for a day and after installing the updates again, is once more show 'Shutting Down' for about 5 minutes and screening then blue.
Help, please! There are a lot of people have reported a similar problem, but none of their solutions seem to work (ie. re-installing the BIOS).
I am very excited to hear from someone!
Andy
I put t know where you found these reports, but I can confirm that my Satellite A660-13 q runs perfectly with all important updates.
Have you installed updated optional too? -
Update caused Windows Blue Screen of Death. Suggested fix does not work.
In February, my Sony Vaio laptop has been updated automatically by Microsoft and now it does not start. I followed all the instructions in this thread
(http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/73cea559-ebbd-4274-96bc-e292b69f2fd1/#e9b28c45-635c-4adf-8d24-817bf39c207b)
but when I get to the point where I need to type some commands, uninstall, My Favorites keys displayed on the screen and I'm unable to type the codes or move forward. As you can tell long time between when this problem occurred and that now, I gave up in frustration for a while but I simply could not live without my cell phone any longer and I'd rather not pay someone to fix this. Any ideas or suggestions?
Hello subvertdonthurt,
All if suggestions published in the forum http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/73cea559-ebbd-4274-96bc-e292b69f2fd1/#e9b28c45-635c-4adf-8d24-817bf39c207b do not work for you, do a restore of the system from the Recovery Console.
Here's how:
Step i. access the recovery by using the OS CD console. As already suggested, you must have your OS CD to repair. (Or the image that you created the instructions above).
To run the Recovery Console from the startup of Windows XP or the Windows XP CD-ROM diskettes, follow these steps:
Insert the diskette of starting Windows XP in the floppy drive, or insert the Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer.
Click to select all of the options required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted to do so.
When the "Welcome" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console and follow the process until you get to the recovery console command prompt.screen.STAGE II. At the Recovery Console prompt, type the following lines (in blue), and then press ENTER after.
1 cd-(Note: between "cd" and "------" there should be an 'empty space' or still command does not work)
2 cd system ~ 1\_resto ~ 1If it gives an error "Access denied" when accessing the folder, follow the method below
CD.
CD windows\system32\config
ren system system.bak
outputRestart the computer, and then follow step I.
3 dir
When you hit
it will list all records of points of restoration as rp1, rp2... we see the last restore point to copy the file from a recent backup. If the restore points have more than one page, then you keep pressing the key to display the last restore point folder. Use the other to the last restore point. (the last restore point is maybe damaged) 4 cd rp {the next to the last restore point only.} (Note: example: cd rp9, if rp9 is the next to the last restore, point where the last restore point n = 9)
5 cd snapshot
Now, the command prompt will look like this c:\system~1\_resto~1\rp9\snapshot > ( Note: restore point 9A assumed for the clarity of the content, you must go to the next to the last restore point folder, as described in the previous lines) now according to the error message to copy the appropriate file in the restore point folder.
6 copy _registry_machine_system c:\windows\system32\config\system
7. Type Exit, and then press ENTER.I hope this helps.
