    After days and days of the trial, an online chat with a technician Microsoft (which was useless) I finally found a suggestion that worked... I had to create a new user account with administrative privileges. Media worked perfectly in this new account! I then spent ages downloading the files from my old account before deleting completely.     If you do not know what has been updated, nor do we. Could have been a critical system component. Try to start in Safe Mode and see if that clears up the problem. If this is not the case, start in Recovery Mode, select disk utility and make a disk first aid. If that doesn't work or you can't get into Recovery Mode, then try Internet Recovery Mode, while the Mac is connected to the Internet (press Command + Option + R) so it starts off Apple servers and reinstall OS X. If all goes well, you won't lose too much data.

    This error message can occur if there is some system files corrupted on your computer. I suggest that scan you a file system [SFC] checker on the computer that would be a search for system files corrupted on the computer and replace them.

    I played around with this stuff and here is my opinion on this subject.

    (1) as far as I know there is nothing strange. I noticed the same thing on notebooks too. For example, if you want to listen to music, you can simply press PLAYER button (3rd from left) and begins at will for laptop and open windows media player. If you want to go on the internet you can simply press INTERNET ((deuxieme button on the left). Laptop will be put into construction and Internet Explore will be open.
    So there is nothing strange, and even get on my Satellite P200 and brand-new Satellite A300.
    To be honest I don't know if this can be disabled. I'll ask a friend of mine. It is monster of Toshiba and maybe he knows more about it. But this behavior is certainly not strange.

    Please provide additional information on your system:

    What is your system brand and model?

    What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

    Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, MSE, Comodo, etc..

    The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

    The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?

    You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

    You use some CD to access this Panel of Microsoft recovery where this "no profile" option is?  I don't know what all this means if it isn't some CD shipped with your system, in which case, I would use it for a coaster instead of something to fix your system.

    If the c:\windows\system32\rpcrt4.dll file is missing or afflicted, you do not start in the last good known Configuration.

    You also will not start in any kind of Mode safe no more.

    Even if you could boot mode safe, you would find that sfc/scannow does not work in Mode without failure in all cases (never).  If you try it, you'll see a message like this:

    Windows file protection could not initiate a scan of protected system files.

    The specific error code is 0x000006ba [the RPC server is unavailable.].

    Failed to start the RPC mode server safe either.

    I can't recreate your error exactly, but it is easy to replace the rpcrt4.dll file.  Looks like you have a working CD drive, so put yourself a Hiren boot CD and when you started on this, you can copy your precious files to a USB device for safety.

    There should be a backup copy of rpcrt4.dll already on your system, here or here:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

    c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

    You need to rename or replace the rpcrt4.dll file which is in c:\windows\system32 and replace it with one you will find the backup copies.
