  I have an Acer aspire 5315 laptop with windows vista ultimate installed and I have a router TP-Link TL-WR841N my Wi - Fi. The problem I have is that the laptop does not connect to my router correctly. Limited saying unidentified network that the router works well because I have another pc downstairs which connects to the access router. Security I use is personal wpa2 and I entered my security key in law whom I did it connects then sometimes times out, but usually he must change the home network. And I have file sharing on now before this router I got router belkin 54 g has of worked but developed a fault, so I bought this one instead. Now the strange thing is the laptop connected with wep on the old router. And the laptop has settings to select wpa2 but nothing happens and the security settings for the wireless is set to automatic and is set on the edge b/n/g on the router. I tried everything but no joy I thought maybe my laptop wireless card might be to old for the tp-link router that I have attached a few photos of snip to show you.

• Local and unidentified network access

  I have recently updated my router to an Apple time machine... my iMac, PS3, portable 2 work running XP and another book of Vista works well, BUT my girls one has problems with wireless, it works very well if connected to the router.

  The laptop connects to the router showing a good signal, but the network is showing as not identified and access is only local.

  There seems to be a lot of similar problems on the forum with perhaps too collaborative... so far, I have upgrade to Service pack 2 and downloaded some difficulty is .no change

  Anyone have any idea? Looks like I'm here for days!

  The connection to the router should be local, and unless you have assigned a name to your router, it will say not identified.  The machine has internet access despite what network shows?  Is there an internet icon in the available networks?  If Yes, I suppose that I don't worry what it says - the conection works as it should (although the Internet should appear in connections made when it is turned on).  If not, go to start / Network / Network and Sharing Center / configure a new connection / configuration of an internet connection and follow the prompts to create a new internet connection on your system (you may need to reference the settings on another computer running Vista to the right).  Then try using this new connection to connect to the internet and see if it works.  If so, remove the old connection is not working and you're good to go.

  I know there are already several sons to do about it.

  However, I tried all of the solutions I've come across and I can not always have internet access.
  Very rarely the computer will connect, however most of the time it doesn't.

• Unidentified network Local Access only on Vista Home Basic using Ethernet.

  Have 2 laptops not identified network Local Access only on Windows Vista Home Basic.  One is a Toshiba and the other is a Dell.  I can use the Ethernet on the Toshiba to one of the The Fire Dept. I work at. (From lastweek, haven't checked since.)  I can't go to the other Station.  Get Local access to the unidentified network only.  I get also home and when I checked the Dell, get the same message.  I can connect wirelessly.  How can I solve the unidentified network problem?

• Windows Vista - unidentified network Local Access only tried everything please help

  I have an Acer Aspire M1610 running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 and 2 days ago when I turned it on the internet was not working and it says unidentified network Local access only. I use a wired Ethernet connection. I don't know how it happened as before I had used the computer as usual and the Internet worked very well. I did a lot of research and read a few forum posts about this problem and tried a few solutions but non of them worked. I tried the following:
  (1) disable my firewall and anti-virus who didn't work, I turned their back on immediately.

  2) press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run a command as administrator prompt.  Allow the elevation.

  Type route delete 0.0.0.0 press ENTER.

  Type ipconfig/flushdns press enter

  Restart your computer.

  (3) the internet protocol version 6 clear, disable and enable the thing

  (4) if same Norton software removal tool I had uninstalled the when I got the computer I read that uninstall it by using uninstall windows is not entirely remove it.

  (5) another thing in the command prompt I don't remember exactly what it was, and I can't find the site Web is because I looked so much of.

  (6) I even reset my computer to factory settings and then uninstalled all unnecessary software and trials that come with and used the software again Norton removal tool.

  Does anyone know how to fix this? Any response will be greatly appreciated.

  Hi, so I have this old Sony Vaio for four years, I used a wired internet connection for the past four years, until what we moved house and received a wireless router. our friend connected to me, and everything worked well, until I had to format the system. I tried the troubleshooting, looked through various forums, but nothing helps, like many, I understood what to do. I reset the router and it works fine on the netbook to my mom, but on the vaio, it says unidentified network - local access only. just to add, it uses a system windows vista Home premium.

  Hi recently my Windows Vista Home Premium - 32-bit has had problems with the internet.

  It was only said 'Local' next to the 'access' and said "Unidentified network" and used to connect me on the internet.

  This problem occurs when you try to connect through an Ethernet cable to the Modem and the router and also while wireless.

  I know that this is not the fault of my Modem/Router, because my laptop says this when I try to connect about internet anybodies.

  I will not need now, I used a program called "Connectify" on my windows 7 laptop. (connectify is a program that acts as a hotspot access point)

  Somehow I was able to connect my Windows Vista computer to the internet via Connectify and I ran all the updates on my laptop with Windows Update, now I am able to connect to my router and modem without any problem.

  Hope that if anyone else has this problem, they can also use Connectify to Windows 7 computers and difficulty there problems internet as I :)

  I had my Pavilion dv6-6c35dx (Windows 7 64-bit Edition running Home Premium) for about a month and I was the wireless Internet without any problem. About two days, whenever I start my laptop the icon network said "Unidentified network - no Internet access." But I can temporarily fix it by disconnecting it from my router and reconnect (or wiring) and I can access the Internet after that. But I find it very annoying to do this whenever I start my laptop. Before the problems started, I've changed my router with this laptop's settings. The reason why I've changed the settings of the router because I wanted my games devices to be taken in charge by the router.

  I'm really sorry to post this question, I must have read 100 other threads on this topic, but none of the solutions seem to work for me.

  I have a home set wireless network in place, which may not have a lot of problems with it that I have a laptop W7 which has a perfect wireless connection, and also our TV connect when you want, as do our phones and Xbox.

  We bought a second hand Acer aspire laptop for our daughter. It is running Vista Edition family Basic. Even if she had the factory reset done on this, because we can connect to the router with an ethernet cable and it works very well, we managed to ensure that all updates of Windows etc are all complete.

  If so, did you uninstall it AND run the tool to remove the appropriate product manufacturer?

  Close all other programs, and then run the tool. When it is complete, reboot the machine if she wants it or not.

  Position of your router would be suspicious here. How you are positioned in the router? Are there
  obstacles in the path?

  Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon.

  Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
  version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
  Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

  Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  I have two laptops - a running Vista Home Premium 64, the other is running Windows 7. Recently, I started having an intermittent problem with connectivity internet wireles affecting two systems. After several calls from Linksys and my service provider, I replaced my old router with a new Linksys N Router G level. The service provider check my service and said everything was fine. I also replaced the modem.

  Now my Windows 7 system works well and is easily connected with my wireless router. But my Vista system has a problem. When I boot the system it tries to automatically connect to my wireless router. It shows «identifying...» (XYZ) "where XYZ is my router SSID. It will stay in this mode for a short time then change to "unidentified network (XYZ)" with "Local" access only The report shows it connected to my router but I don't have access to the internet. Without restarting the computer, I can easily connect to the router of my neighbour without problem. (there a Linsys router also) I can then immediately and without restarting the computer, select 'Connect to a network', select my router and connect successfully without any problem and with full access to Internet.  If I turned off my system and restart, the problem occurs again. It seems the only way I can connect successfully to the internet via my router after a restart, is to connect to my neighbors to first router, and then connect to mine. I went through the standard steps to turn off all devices and bring it to the top in order. I also deleted all profiles and through steps to refresh. The problem remains and occurs after a reboot of the system.

  Not sure where the original problem has existed. This router supports WPA2. But as the problem is gone, I will end it. Thank you.

  recently re-installed Windows 7 after a BSOD that wouldn't let me even start. This issue is now resolved, but when I try to connect to a hotspot, it does not work. After a long "identification" process, he said "unidentified network, no internet Access. How can I solve that?

  Problem solved! The driver was designed for Windows 8, while the other more ancient works fine now.
