    Hi DavidValentine,

Check that you have removed all other anti-malware real-time products that were already installed on your PC, including free products / trial that were installed when the PC was purchased (Norton, McAfee, TM, AVG, OneCare, Malware bytes (paid), etc.).

Note: If you use more than one antivirus or antispyware program at the same time, your PC may know a decrease in performance, become unstable, or restart unexpectedly. Before you install Microsoft Security Essentials, or if you want to solve problems with Microsoft Security Essentials, including the update of issues, you must first completely remove your PC Internet security programs.

You may have to uninstall/reinstall MSE. You should be able to remove MSE of the Control Panel. Uninstall problems see:http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/protect_start/uninstalling-mse/a63b8c4b-58ed-437e-8086-fa08d80725a4

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Why my system tray showing a new icon and the message "Windows manages this network adapter. Click here to use ProSet/Wireless' when I have a NetGear adapter

Help!  I'm not a computer guru.

Today I noticed a new icon in my system tray and when I place my curson on it, I get the message: 'Windows manages the wireless adapter.  Click here to use ProSet/Wireless. "(I have not clicked on the icon so I don't know what would happen if I did.)   I recently downloaded Explorer 8 from the Microsoft site, but except that I have not changed anything with my computer.  I have the NetGear wireless software on my computer, so I was surprised to see ProSet/Wireless.  Also, the ProSet/Wireless will now appear in "programs".  Is it possible that someone is hacking my computer wireless and succeeded in putting the ProSet software? On this subject, or is it something that is connected with Internet Explorer 8?  Either way, I'm running Windows XP and have Norton 360 protection.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

What computer brand and model do you have?

What model Netgear wireless network card?

It is highly unlikely that anyone who has maliciously installed Intel Pro/Set on your computer (especially considering that he is even not manages your network card).  Also, it is not related to IE 8.  If I had to guess, I assume you have Windows Update configured to install updates "optional equipment" as well as "Critical" updates.  If you do, change this setting.

Open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK), expand the "Network adapters" section by clicking on the +.  What devices are listed under network adapters?

  • Can't install/uninstall Microsoft mouse and keyboard Center!

Hi, I got problem with the Microsoft Mouse and keyboard Centre because he doesn't identify my touch mouse correctly (classified as a HID-compliant device and not by its name as my Sidewinder X 4 keyboard). I uninstalled from Add/Remove Programs, and I also uninstalled the drivers for my mouse AND my keyboard (because it showed a double receiver device in device manager). I restarted my computer, but when I tried to install the drivers again in the process of installing mouse and keyboard I got an error message telling me that it was already installed. I uninstalled it again (the "ghost" of it is still listed in Add/Remove Programs) and restarted. When I tried to reinstall, I got the message again who told me that it was already installed. This is when strange things began to happen. The program was once again listed in Add/Remove Programs (this time with its icon and not only a "ghost"). I tried uninstalling and received a message telling me that the uninstall process could not be met because some the original installation files have been corrupted or missing. But now, the program has been listed in the Windows Start menu and when I double click it it started an installation process ceased to immediately resume a message that mkc.msi was missing from a temporary file to My Documents, and he could not proceed, so now I can't install or uninstall the cursed thing. I tried to restore my computer but it doesn't solve all problems. I suspect that some registry entries are not deleted properly when the first uninstall process. I don't want to mess with the registry by myself, at least not until I know what registry entries are created by and in connection with the program. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  • Work/uninstall Microsoft Livecam HD-5000 problems

Hello. I bought my Livecam HD-5000, a year or 2 ago and I had no problems with it what so ever. I installed it on my PC game right when I built my computer in November 2013. He has worked since then, and it was awesome. I am currently running a 128GB Samsung 840 Pro as my main drive (C) and its operation VERY low on space. As now I have 10 GB free on my C drive... big problem. Honestly, I don't know how to solve this problem, because whenever I install programs I'd always safe to install on my E drive which is my 1 TB drive.

in any case, is that everything recently that I was running out of space (as in the last 6 months). Immediately, I tried to change as part of my temp files would go in redirecting them so that they are out of my SSD on my TB to try to save space, im not sure if that screwed with it. But in any case, since my Lifecam HD-5000 just would not work. Whenever I opened my Microsoft Livecam program, I'd get a "There is no camera connected to this computer..." I tried looking for answers, and I tried all the troubleshooting options. I changed my USB hubs, 3.0 I tried, tried 2.0, made sure my registration of regedit, and nothing worked. I uninstalled Microsoft Livecam program about 2 months ago and reinstalled. Still nothing. Camera turns on, but it is not detected in the program Microsoft Livecam.

I thought: 'maybe it's just the program' so I downloaded a program of webcam and tried using them to create a video, and of course, in this program my camera has not been detected. Again, I tried another program, a program that I normally use when making videos, 8 Studios of Camtasia and of course I get no picture of my camera, BUT its recognition and the blue light on my webcam is enabled as it should be. But when I go to start recording I get the error "an unexpected error has occurred. Capture cannot be started. ' Cool.

So I decided to come back, uninstall Microsoft Livecam AGAIN. Now, which is what im. BUT now when I go to uninstall Microsoft Livecam, its stuck at "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft LiveCam" and its setting as 25% and a window just pops up saying "Service"MSCamSvc"(MSCamSVc) could not be stopped. Make sure you have sufficient privileges to stop system services. "... and I clicked on 'Retry', and he keeps all try and come up with the same box.

    HELP PLEASE!

    CY

The question is when trying to install the driver the installation program can't stop web cam service.  Two things you can try.  First run the installer as administrator, then try to install it (even once, run the installer as administrator) in safe mode when the service of the camera does not work

If the driver is older than win 7, you can also run it in compatibility mode (see figure)

To run as admin (and compatibility) right click on the installer > properties > compatibility > check run as admin compatibility mode)
