Hello Chinared,
You have a different Malware/antivirus program? If so, you can remove Windows Defender by following the instructions on the link below. If not, I would not recommend remove Defender because it leaves your computer unprotected.

With respect to the withdrawal of MSN, I don't know what you mean. Are you referring to change your homepage, by deleting the preloaded software, etc. ?
Regarding the modules, it's entirely your call. According to the version of Internet Explorer you are using, simply do a search on the web of IE (version) without Add-ons. This will give you the steps to remove them if you want.
Let us know if it did or did not help to solve your problems.

Hi Ali,
· What is the version of Windows installed on your computer?
· Windows Live Messenger is installed on your computer or on MSN Messenger?
· A messenger pre-installed on your computer, otherwise how you installed messenger?
If you have installed messenger with Windows Live Essentials, you will need to uninstall Windows Live Messenger by following the steps below.
1. click on start
2. go in Control Panel
3. Select programs
4. click on programs and features
5. Select Windows Live Essentials
6. click on change/remove
' 7. it will then give you the option to choose what "essential" you want to remove. For example: Live Messenger, Live Mail and Live Photo etc.
Hope this information is useful.

Windows Update, error KB 967912
I have an update that has failed repeatedly. The update to Windows Live Sign in Assistant fails whenever it tries to install. A help article, stated that my firewall may be stopping it, but as I use the windows firewall provided with my Acer laptop, this should not be the case.
The error code is KB 967912, nobody knows what causes the update fails?
Thank you very muchHi CitySleuth,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers forum. Can you please post back with the error message that you receive when you try to install the update. KB967912 is the name of the update.
A workaround for this problem is uninstall all MSN "stuff", resettlement using the latest version, which includes this update.

Failure of KB967912 Windows Vista updated 10 x today and the computer can't access internet
My new ACER Vista Office tried to install this update 10 x, today. It started while I was working this afternoon. Until that moment, I had a complete connectivity via a cable CAT5e LAN accessing a router and cable modem. Later, I lost the first internet and local network access. Before that, I had worked with Firefox, Windows Media, and financial software and everything was accessed successfully the ' net. Then, I tried to configure Microsoft Outlook 2007 to get my email. His inability to access my cable provider was the first idea I had that I didn't have connectivity.
Each time, I had the exclamation point on the stop switch and Vista stops with the view that he was installing "Update 1 of 1. However, whenever I rebooted the update didn't install. Also, I had to restart my modem and router every time to regain access to the internet for short periods of time; in less than 4 to 7 minutes, all access to the internet is lost again. The error code was Code BC2 the last couple of times, but before that I also got error Code 80200053 when an Office update also failed to install. (I was able to install the Office update successfully, after another restart and cycle the modem to regain power connectivity).
Help! FYI, I had to find another computer even to post this question!
