Unique hardware identifier

MacBook asking for identifying Unique computer hardware to be sent to Apple to check eligibility.

It is coming when I try to update my laptop with two sons. MacBook Pro.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Usually, if you click on about this Mac from within Apple (Menu in the Finder icon)

desktop computer, and then click more information, that opens and you can choose to see

very probably want is the associated identifier to of the Material UUID. The equivalent of

a machine identification number that would be similar to that used when it is on the network.

{Computers need what type of update? Who claims these figures? Do

do you have a contact with an official Apple Store where they specialists?}

Depending on what OS X version of the system, some details may vary a bit. But this

  • unique hardware ID?

    Does anyone know if the hardware id (Device.device.hardwareID) is "somewhat" unique? I need to get something like that, is not necessarily unique, but identifiable, as a hash value. At first I wanted to use a hashed MD5 Device.device.pin, but to use it, I need to ask the user for permission, and I don't think that users like that :/ Just in case, mine looks like this 100669XXX (XXX are other numbers)

    Unique identifier for a specific device is PIN or would be number (which is somewhat the same thing).

    They are protected by the action of the user, because it is considered to be personal information.

    Hardward Id - is the same for all the rules.

  • How to generate a unique global identifier?

    I was sure that this would be covered somewhere, but couldn't find it.  I was wondering if there is any standard way to create some sort of unique identifier, a little in the world?  I'm trying to collect data from my application and I try to avoid collecting everything that would be personally identifiable to a particular device.  On other platforms, there is the notion of a GUID.  Is something like this provided out of the box?  At the present time, the best thing that I came up with is cat a bunch of long random set that seems kind of hoaky.

  • Operating system applies to the machine, but the necessary recovery from another disk machine. Feasible?

    Is it possible to use another recovery disc (not the one that came with my machine) to install a copy of XP and then connect to servers internet for code review and entry of correct product key for my device?
    My repairman installed XP OS validated without problem out of the box, and I continued to date for about 2 years without problem.  This product key on my machine exactly matches my hardware profile and unique machine identifier.
    Unfortunately, I encountered a corrupted file NTKRNL and the complete refusal of all the way to windows, and THEN only do I condone my repairman for a recovery disk is defective.  They ignore my requests all sending me a disc of functional recovery.  I cannot use drive recovery from a friend to get a XP upwards and running, provided reacondicionador is totally unnecessary.
    Is it possible to use a different recovery disk, my friends for his XP machine and then have the MS servers recognize it as my old machine even that I registered at the origin of XP to and get the correct downloads by changing product key what is the cert of Authenticity on the machine?   I find that I use an incorrect product key (for my machine) to get the XP operating system to install, of course.  Have a headache MASSIVE because the material recovery turns out to not work properly now and restful can't be bothered to answer my questions either.
    My machine is not currently connected to the internet to try this, (was constantly in the past, but it has been faulty several months now so I killed the internet subscription).  The MS servers know my machine and I have an XP license valid, and I would go to the trouble to subscribe to internet contact again if I knew it would work.  Without a working computer, don't have much reason to keep my internet connection.

    There is a difference between Recovery Disk from a PC manufacturer and a Windows XP Installation CD.

    Assuming you mean the latter, it is possible - as long as the CD corresponds to the license. In other words, if your license (indicated on your COA) is, say, for Windows XP Home Edition, OEM version and if you are using an OEM Windows XP Home Edition installation CD version, then your COA product key should work. But that's the trap. Everything must match! In addition, there could be complications with some versions of the BRAND. For best results, use a generic OEM version of the CD (aka integrators).
    Here again, the System Builders CDs are not easy to find for most people. In this case, you have two other options:
    1. contact the manufacturer. Of course, Windows XP is an old OS, and I imagine that many OEMS no longer support it. :-(
    2. this site:
    Finally, many manufacturers offer a recovery partition which is actually a restore hidden on the hard disk partition:
  • The Linux Application running on vmware license validation

    Hi all

    We sell our software based on linux on our custom server hardware platform. We intend to make the vmware as a platform officially supported. We will distribute only computer image virtual and clients will have to arrange their own ESX VM server.

    License of our application is generated using eth0 MAC from our server unit. So the license of the application generated for a mac address, on the device only one server (i.e. a license is linked to a server machine). Same license does not work on any other device server due to the mac address verification.

    In ESX VM, mac address can be automatically or manually assigned to a VM vNIC:

    1 auto generated MAC:

    ===================

    We leave the ESX Server to assign an automatically generated mac address to our VM.

    Limits:

    License currently applied to our application will not work in the following cases, which are very likely to occur in the field:

    a. If the virtual computer is moved to another ESX Server, automatically generated the MAC address for this virtual machine will change.

    b. conflict of MAC address of is not guaranteed.

    If a virtual computer is stopped, the same generative MAC may be assigned to another VM that happens while the virtual machine is broken.

    Later when this virtual machine is displayed, it will get a few other self-generated Mac.

    2. manually configured MAC address:

    =============================

    Disadvantages: Possibility of piracy, because the user can specify the same MAC to several virtual machines of our application that runs on different ESX servers and apply the unique license.

    How about the other applications that run on vmware, handle request license validation?

    Is there any "unique globally identify" for each VM instance that can be used to generate and validate the license of the application?

    Kind regards

    Manish

    Licensing could be a problem if based on the MAC address.

    As you wrote if you use a MAC address manually it can also be defined by the user.

    If you use the automatic type, there is another problem.

    And anyway Linux is fairly simple spoof the MAC address...

    Using the properties of the drive, as UUID or special block could simple derivation by cloning the entire disk with JJ.

    CPUID properties can not be used...

    Have you considered using a solution based on the license server?

  • Old favorites are not compatible with the version 20 + Firefox

    General information:
    I use the old client version 3.6 given that an old utility addon author stopped update and will not work with the new revisions. Despite disabling the update featured on: config and in preferences, the browser refreshes still finished (initially I was using 3.4 and would prefer to use that, but no matter how I try I can is no longer cancel 3.6 to 3.4 even if I reinstall using an Installer 3.4). Accordingly, I had the habit of keeping a copy of my directory of firefox where it updates again without asking, she has. This could help the guy out to meet countless people who have lost their favorites because of the upgrade released this year and I hope that someone to investigate and release a patch/utility to fix the problem.

    Question:
    I checked that the most recent customer since at least version 20 and leave, are not compatible with the old bookmark JSON files. Those who have been upgraded to the latest revision not only lose their favorites, but cannot restore them either, as Firefox only returns the error message: "unable to process the Backup File.

    I confirmed that the files themselves are perfectly intact with no sign of corruption and are as expected. Restore ok old revisions of browser (in my case specifically 3.6), they will not restore the most recent customer reviews. This isn't a fault with bookmark backups, but with new clients (I guess they changed the way they store information in the JSONs at some point. I note in the code for the JSONs GUID has never been used in old revisions, but it is in the most recent revision. Maybe it's causing an incompatibility problem? You just need to adjust the client so that it looks for the GUID and if none can be found to ignore it rather than decide that the file is corrupted.

    Solution?
    In my case, I had a copy backup of the old directory for review. To restore I opened the copy and export bookmarks as an HTML, that I restored in the most recent client. If you don't have a copy of the former client, the best thing would be to try and re-install an older revision of the customer and either make a copy of the program folder and use another copy of that you can use the new and old customers and you worry about the loss of an older revision, since you'll always have 2 copies of the former client (the one you use the one that you use to restore in the case of at level). Or export bookmarks to an HTML element, and then upgrade the client to the newest and import the HTML instead of JSON files.

    Please review and create a more simple solution to a problem of stupid incompatibility. ^_^

    There are a number of operations in the file places.sqlite which are obsolete.
    For example,.

    setItemGUID (aItemId, aGUID) obsolete since Gecko 14.0 - returns a unique global identifier for the element. This is mainly for use by extensions that synchronize data between different profiles bookmark.

    Former id snippit:
    "title": "','id': 1,"dateAdded": 1306666129870000,"
    New snippit
    {"title": "","guid": "5rkFafJ6AnRZ",""id ": 1, 'index': 0, 'dateAdded': 1396387525168000"}

    There are other identifier here has changed, I think in version 14
    «Note: the importHTMLFromFileToFolder() method has been removed in Gecko 14.0 (14.0 Firefox / Thunderbird 14.0 / SeaMonkey 2.11).»

    But more likely the former is Netscape format: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libra.../aa753582%28VS.85%29.aspx

    I tried this however: I installed the old version (3.5) and updated to the current version. All my favorites were there. I had to check the updates and could not skip certain steps of 3.5 to 3.6 for example. He then went from 3.6 to 12, then with todays update went straight to 30. They're all here. However nothing is perfect, backup is recommended as well.

    Back to your question, makes it easier for backward compatibility, my hypothesis is that they changed with the updates and ignored some versions. Saved profiles or places.sqlite files may be missing this change because the format changes in the update?

    My suggestion would be filing a bug at this request, providing a few cases where this would be necessary. Currently only the current version of Firefox is supported, which can leave us to the work around that you are currently using.

    This is certainly not the truth. The only difference is that you pay for the repair when the laptop is out of warranty. For me it makes sense that this situation should be more interesting for services because they earn the defective notebook computers repair.

    In general the graphics card replacement is not possible and I do not think that you will be able to find as unique hardware component. As far as I know, the whole motherboard must be exchanged.
    Where to find the new motherboard?

    You can try to order directly by Toshiba service partner or try to find that some used one on eBay.

    Do you know what is an express card slot?
    I think you mix something

    The express card slot is designed for express cards. It s similar to PCMCIA cards.
    You won't find a graphics card that is designed for the express card slot. For those sites you can buy for example USB expansion cards.

    Check your user manual!

  • My Satellite C runs very slowly

    In December, I bought a new laptop and it works very, very slowly.
    My broadband is very well I guess all other laptops in the House are working well.

    I downloaded Google Chrome and configured for Windows 8 and has slightly improved performance, it takes at least a minute to load Web pages and there is a significant lag in scrolling up and down pages.

    I uninstalled Mcafee which is preinstalled, I could not even get into that and have installed Norton, it makes no difference to the speed.

    Can anyone help?

    What model of laptop you buy exactly?
    Would be interesting to know the unique hardware specifications

    In all cases, applications that run in the system context has a great influence on system performance and the laptop.

    Norton Antivirus software is known to me. I used this software antivirus in the past, but I wasn't very satisfied the use of Norton has slowed considerably my laptop performance. Now, I m using a freeware, Avira and Avast antivirus software and it s ok.

    However, as I said, the background process can slow down the system and why it would be useful to check the process list and disable processes which don't serve any time, but will be loaded automatically when the system starts.

    You can also clean the system and the registry using CCLeaner tool.

  • HP 450: Is that what this laptop contains chart AMD?

    Hello
    I recently bought a laptop which the model has been specified as a simple "450 HP".

    So my question is, my computer contains AMD graphics?
    I tried to install the AMD driver available on the HP site, but it has not been successful. (only intel HD4000 is displayed in Device Manager)

    its basic configuration is the following:

    3230 M I5
    HARD DRIVE 500 GB
    4 GB OF RAM

    It seems to be this one: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03315510

    But the processor does not match. one installed in the present is an i5, whereas the above specifications refer without exceeding i3.

    While the specs mention chart AMD, and drivers are available on the website of official drivers HP450, all my attempts to install the supplied driver (downloaded from HP) failed.
    (he never mentioned material missing. it says ' warnings occurred during installation. ") (please see newspaper"but does not have the button"view log")

    The intel driver installed fine.
    In the device, under 'graphics adapters' Manager, is shown only the hd4000 intel.

  • COM in C++, but not in Labview shooting event

    Hi all

    Attached are on I have a problem with the screws.  The main VI is connection, which has a reminder VI which is testCallback methods.

    The question, as I understand it, is that the OnGazeData event is not fired, because I created the recall VI to create and write to a file. However, the file is not created.

    My first question is whether or not my shooting events will block waiting 500 SC in the loop.

    I can't redistribute the .dll file that defines these functions, but I'll try to describe what did OnGazeData; the rest should be pretty self explanatory of the attached screw.

    OnGazeData is fired whenever the connected device has data to interpret.  The data of the event will be a structure called gazeData.   There are a number of elements to the structure, including a timestamp as well as the size of pupil left and right eye.  All variables in the structure are either integers or floating-point numbers.

    Curiously, the C++ code provided with the device works, as far as I know, in the same way as my connection VI.  Lights OnGazeData and the C++ program displays the results in a window.

    In the end, I really wish I could use Labview to interpret the gazeData that OnGazeData fires, which is why the user setting (which will be eventually changed to a Variant or a cluster, I'm really not sure).

    Is there something that stands out for you that could be the cause of the problems?  I realize it's hard to debug without the .dll real access to the same functions as I have.  I was banging my head against this VI for a few weeks now, and I'm really at a loss for what could be changed or improved now.

    This is my first project in Labview, please forgive my ignorance.  Thank you for taking the time to look over what I have to say.

    Re: GUID, IDL, COM server:

    I think I mispoke in the title; I don't think that it is a COM event as long as it is a component.  I don't really know what a COM server is or how to find out if there is still an IDL.  The documentation I read is not a native English, and I'm having a hard time he deciphering at all.

    So I guess my revised question should look like this:

    • How to find out if my structure is indeed declared as a struct with a GUID in the file of the COM server IDL
    • If not, can someone point me in the right direction regarding writing a wrapper .dll file, preferably one that easily fits into LV via .net or ActiveX).  Reminder, .net and ActiveX are all pretty new to me.

    Hey Evan,

    you don't mispoke not in the title, the COM server and COM event is correct. A bit on the functioning internal COM server:

    COM servers are built using IDL files. IDL means "interface definition language", an IDL file is a text file that looks a bit like a C header file. It contains the interface definitions. Interfaces consist of properties and methods, ones that you can access through the property and invoke nodes of LV each interface has a GUID, a unique global identifier. The IDL file is compiled into a library of types, a binary representation of the IDL file. LV reads information from the interface and coclass type library. If you have Visual Studio installed you can view the type libraries using a tool called OleView.exe. So you might find if structs are used. Sounds complicated, but it's COM :-)

    If you have to deal with types incompatible automation (e.g., struct) you need a wrapper. With a bit of luck you need not write C++ but can instead create a .NET DLL wrapper: The .NET SDK provides a tool Tlbimp can you use to accomplish this task. It is a command line tool that takes the name of the COM DLL as a parameter. After you create the interop with tlbimp DLL, you can use in LV. Structs are also exported as .NET objects, so you can create and access.

    Hope that helps.

    viFindRsrc (rsrcHandle, "?") * PXI? * INSTR", & MyFindList, & %%numFound%% shops, InstrDescriptor);
    viGetAttribute (rsrcHandle, VI_ATTR_PXI_CHASSIS, frame);

    When you are finished, close the VISA session.
    viClose (rsrcHandle);

    break;
    }
    return 0;
    }

    According to the function panel, the object handle is a unique logical identifier for a session, list to find or event. So ViSession should be OK. But it seems that rsrcHandle is a session to the resource manager. You will need to use ViOpen to establish a connection with your device.

  • Not a number/path/Refnum? Does not work with a reference SE

    Hi all

    I am writing a LabVIEW application and check that the Switch Executive session is valid before I allow the user to validate the test to run. I connect the not A number/path/Refnum? Function to reference session SE and it connects correctly, but the output of the function is never wrong even though I see the session reference is valid and non-null. Any ideas why this is?

    Thank you

    Nick

    It was a trick to convert a reference internal in an external shared library (usually a pointer memory) in a datalog refnum strict typedefed. This safely prevents a user to connect to what anyone, but this type of refnum at the VI in question. But this wasn't really a datalog refnum and the is not a number/path/Refnum refnum, which subsystem to question the validity of a refnum to determine based on the subtype. The LabVIEW datalog Manager ever created this refnum and hence will return correctly (not one of my refnums which is currently known to be valid).

    Because of this problem the misuse of datalog refnums as a unique resource identifier has been abandoned more in recent years. Also it will work with any external resources representing pointers memory when using 64-bit LabVIEW, since memory pointers are big in this 64-bit environment LabVIEW refnums are still 32-bit.

    Collate OR if they have a newer version of the Switch Executive in gestation or perhaps already out.

  • New cartridge HP 1320, installed, print without error messages and blank pages.

    HP laserjet 1320 running Windows 7 a new cartridge installed. About 20 pages have been printed perfectly well use few months. A day after the image were printed and the printer was arrested after the execution of the work; then, when the printer was turned on to the different print document, it has started printing blank pages without error since the same test page.

    The Q5949XC cartridge was removed and turned to redistribute the toner in addition to recycle power but the problem persists.

    Please notify.

    Thank you.

    Try to print a test page for the device control panel & see the result.

    If internal printer test pages doesn't have an image printed on (blank page), try to replace (if available) by another toner cartridge or toner cartrdige tested with another printer of the work.  This is to confirm if the fault is with the toner cart. or with the printer hardware.

    If the fault is with the printer hardware, then you may have to contact HP technical support & have the product hardware identified & solved problem.
