Unit does not start

I was able to recover a device this morning at my local Office Max and have really enjoyed the last 10 hours to use my new Playbook.  Tonight trying to get my installed chips of debugging, I decided that my PC could not connect to my playbook, and maybe I needed to reboot the device.  Holding the switch down, choose restart.  Device seemed close and started the boot sequence with the "BlackBerry PlayBook: logo and pretty flashing lights."   The UNIT will not go beyond this screen.  He was now trying to start for more than an hour.   I tried power off, standby, then power on.   I am worried that I have a defective unit.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Is there a magic button sequence to get a clean boot?  any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion of Peter - I was scouring the web last night and saw some of these threads.

I ended up calling for the support

USA: 1-877-644-8410
PEUT: 1-877-644-8405

and worked the following sequence:

-hold [power] AND [volume] for 25 seconds (device off after about 10 seconds)

-Press [power] to turn on (start screen stays hung)

-hold [power] AND [volume] for 25 seconds AGAIN

-Press [power] to turn on (which actually worked)

the representative said that you may need to do it 4 or 5 times.  If you experience the problem, try this first.

In addition, this problem moved directly after the update.  I restarted my camera a few times (long [power] press throughout the day yesterday.  My Wifi was funny so I thought this might help.

Am happy that I don't have to send the unit back.

I managed to uninstall my graphics card and when I restart my pc, the screen goes black, and even if I go into safe mode, it does not work. In safe mode, the screen is black except the flashing '_' in the top left, Ive waited more than 30 minutes on the '_' to continue, but to no avail.

    Please help me!

    Hello

Did you uninstall the graphics driver or you replace the chip of the graphics card?
This sign happens because there is something wrong with the hardware.
Check if it of possible to enter the BIOS and check the options.

  • The unit does not start

We have a 2.4.0.120 as a stand-alone unit and Data Exchange 5.5 has been corrupted (no backup - of course). We have uninstalled Dialogic and the unit (using the uninstall tool). We then uninstalled Exchange. After reinstalled Exchange 5.5 and the unit, the Unit reports to the registry the "could not initialize CallControl component" and then stops. The Dialogic cards spend diagnostic checks.

    Can anyone help?

Well... looks like you yourself have a sick system. These errors are not a simple configuration problem that I can work through with you here, there is something more serious going on under the covers here and I don't know what it is - Dialogic card could go south, wav driver is toast, I don't know. It would be one of those moments that I would try to install from scratch.

  • Satellite C660-2EL does not start

    Hi guys,.

After a few days full of frustration here I am.

I am working on a friends Satellite C660-2EL
He was stuck in the endless loop of boot Win 7 and would not be recovered by any means.

So I decided a format was the way to go.
After the format using partition magic everything's fine.
I reinstalled Win 7 and the installation was also fine. Once the installation is complete, and it's a reboot that I decided to jump into the BIOS and change the order of boot if I put the CD Drive first. If after changing the settings and then save and quit this crap won't start at all now, no CD HD or anything else.

The toshiba screen flashes upward, but when I hit F2 now it freezes just tell to get into Setup.
When I try to hit F12 the screen goes back to the blinking cursor.
If I press anything I get the white screen with the cursor.

I saw a video on you tube to reset the CMOS, I tried it work with no luck.

    Any ideas guys?

    Hello

You want to say you have a cursor blinking in the upper left corner and the unit does not start CD or HARD drive?
The blinking cursor is above all a sign of failure of the HARD drive.

I recommend that you check the HARD drive with the help of a tool (freeware) called Drive Fitness Test.
This tool creates a bootable disk that scans the HARD drive for malfunctions.

If the HARD drive's fault, it be replaced

    Hi GregSwinburne,

    ·         Have you tried to connect the unit to a different computer and check?

The Code 10 error code is generated when the Device Manager has not enough information or the error that is upward by device drivers is not recognized by Device Manager. In addition, this error may occur if one of the pilots who needs the unit does not start. If multiple drivers are used by a particular device, it can be difficult to determine which failed.

    No, you can't.

If you have a true bootable XP with SP1 or SP2 installation CD, you can create a new installation CD with SP3 integrated using a process called "slipstreaming".

It is a pleasure to the project for a day and there are several methods, you can read on the Internet, such as BleepingComputer:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial154.html

If you want to use the Recovery Console and is not a real XP bootable installation CD or are not sure what you have, simply create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console yourself (without XP media required)

    Here's how:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install the Ask toolbar.

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

  • NB200 does not start after the bios - screen black screen with blinking cursor

    Hello

I was using the laptop as usual when I think there may have been a virus activity - reason I say that is that my anti-virus closed unexpectedly. I couldn't restart programs files.

    I restarted the laptop.

After the bios menu will I get a blank screen with a blinking cursor - windows does not start.

    I did the following:
    (1) create a USB bootable with Recovery Console window XP - boot with this i can see three drives C:, D: as SDA? I can see the content of these disks, so it seems that my HD works. I ran a fixmbr and fixboot, but this has not solved the problem.
    (2) create a Kaspersky bootable USB virus scan - ran it without problem - he found a few question (not on the disk boot sector) I've fixed.

An option was to copy files from the laptop and then start it in recovery mode - so Itried to run the phone into recovery mode hold down the 0 key at startup - the bottom of the screen then displays * HDD Recovery mode * and nothing happens.

Any help - other options would be greatly appreciated.

My 1 year of that guarantee has expired a few months back so can't send in for repair.

    Thank you

    Hello

I doubt that it is a virus.
Seems the file system is damaged on the HARD drive and this is the reason why the laptop does not start until it could also be a partition of HARD disk malfunction.

Try this; Turn on the unit, press F8, and then check if you have the laptop repair.
If this is not possible, then you will need to reinstall new OS.

Here you can order a recovery disc:
    http://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx
Of course you will need an external USB CD/DVD drive

  • Tecra 8000 does not start after the BIOS update

From one day to the other does not start my Tecra 8000 (400 MHz/256 MB BIOS 9.30 for years). After start-up, the disc starts to turn, but the screen including the backlight remains completely black, without red logo TOSHIBA BIOS is not accessible.

I got a new mainboard on stock, so I replaced it, and it worked. Unfortunately now my WLAN card now did not work properly. I tried several settings of the BIOS with no results, so I decided to do an update of the BIOS from 7.50 to 9: 30. After the upgrade, I get the message "ROM WRITE successful, utility completed. LEADER BIOS: Tecra8000 v 9,30 ". Because what either kept silent, I pressed the power button to restart and heard a long and many short beeps (endless). I could interrupt what pressing the powerbutton for 5s.

After turning on again I have the same problem as described in the first line :-( I can't get into the BIOS, but I can again update (with pressed F12). Once again these beeps.

What to do with these beeps after average BIOS update? I replaced the MoBo connector LED with pension. Processor, memory, keyboard and HD has remained the same. So, before I start disassembling the machine, please notify, your help is very appreciated.

    Hello Joachim

I'm not a technician and don t know what the beeps but I am afraid that the BIOS chip is damaged. Because of this, the unit is completely dead. Sorry, but I really don t believe you can do anything. Maybe the new motherboard again :(

    Hello

No one can exactly the answer to your question.
I mean only a technician who checked the unique pieces can say what part could be affected and defective.
    We can only provide suggestions

First, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Wait 1 hour and reconnect the two parts.
Then try to turn on the unit. If this will not help then it s a serious hardware problem and you should get in contact with the provider of service authorized in your country.

    Hello

Try to start the machine in safe mode and remove the preinstalled graphics card driver. Restart the device and try again. See the download from Toshiba site and download the latest updated driver for this device. My old unit was the Satellite P20-303 and I updated with SP2 with no problems.

  • Satellite M30: Does not start XP

My Tosh Satellite M30 laptop (with 2 HD discs) does not work after I have updated with the MS security updates, it does not start XP.

The laptop makes a clicking sound and gives me the message:

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit PXE ROM
    Operating system not found.

I changed the boot order in the BIOS to: CDROM. And select Exit and save changes.
Inserted my Toshiba Recovery windows XP version that allows me the option of
    "1. the recovery disc" or "2. Expert recovery mode"or also"Exit ".
I chose "1. Recovery disc"as I'm not an expert (as you can tell!)

I then get a load of diagnostic checks run by laptop and it shows then finally on the screen:
    X:\\ no disk fixed

Ideally, I would like to repair and keep things I have on my drive D: HD.

I'm pretty sure the XP starts on my drive C: HD.

    Your help is very appreciated!

    Suraj

    Hello

The PXE message means that the device is trying to boot from the network. I put t understand you a lot with C and D HD. I assume you mean that you have two partitions on a single HARD disk. C partition for the operating system and the D partition for your data.

If I understood you as soon as you cannot boot operating system at all. On this path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem but obviously you a problem with the HARD drive. It is probably defective. If the recovery DVDs is not able to detect one that there may be a serious problem.

I put t know how contact the partner old Service your unit is but if the warranty is still valid and let check the device.

    Good luck!

    Try this:

-Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
-Press the power button / stop along 30 sec
-Connect the battery and AC adapter to the laptop
-Try to turn on the unit.

If this fails, check the memory modules.
Remove a module and try to start Notepad using a single module. Run the test for each slot and the module.

  • Satellite L670-1EE does not start after upgrading RAM 4 GB to 8 GB

I'm trying to upgrade the RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB. If I replace two 2 GB of 2 modules of 4 GB modules, the BIOS (which is the most recent) realize the 8 GB, but does not start at startup. There is just the white cursor blinking not.

When I put in the 1 4 GB module and 1 2 GB module the system starts without a problem and has 6 GB. I checked the two 4 GB modules, they work in any combination, but not when both are installed together.

I couldn't find any rider or the settings of the bios for the RAM...

    Any idea?

Thanks in advance for the help

The last plausible explanation is that both modules are ok, but not compatible with each other.
The laptop can be upgraded up to 8 GB of RAM. This should not be a problem since the unit is supported by the Chipset Mobile Intel HM55 Express.

So I think that you need to replace the modules Kingston modules are great and work without problem.
