Unit works only with the Boot Camp Partition

Hi guys - I searched the forums for a while and pretty well I came across all positions said that if the unit does not have to uninstall/reinstall VMware Tools.  I tried twice but nothing helped. I am very new to the merger, but for now I'm very excited/impressed with the trial version - I just everything works fine!

Sorry to ask 2 questions in once, but someone pourrait' one also point me in the right direction on how to remove my bootcamp partition and strictly use VMware so that I can create snapshots and free up hard drive space?

OSX 10.5.6

Windows XP SP2 (bootcamp partition)

VMware Fusion 2.0.4

MacBook 1st Gen 13 "Core Duo 2 GHz, 2 GB memory

Thanks in advance for helping me!

If you want you can import the Boot Camp partition as a Virtual Machine based on a separate stand alone file, or you can install Windows from scratch.  After you import if desired you choose and you don't want to use Boot Camp natively or as a training Camp for the virtual partition Machine (not that any) and want to recover the space that the Boot Camp partition is far from taking the Macintosh HD you can then use the Boot Camp Assistant (/ applications/utilities/Assistant Boot Camp) to remove the Boot Camp partition to reclaim that space.

For the import of the Boot Camp partition as a Virtual Machine based on a stand-alone file, take a look at: VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > creating virtual machines > import Virtual Machines > import the Partition Boot Camp

Regarding the Boot Camp existing partition Virtual Machine...

Note: These senses are different which have already been posted so read and follow through... Note: These steps assume that you have a single Apple to default installation of Windows on a single Boot Camp partition and Boot Camp of VMware Fusion single default partition Machine virtual (without a snapshot *) and if you have changed the partition Boot Camp Virtual Machine to add additional hard disks to be virtual or RAW disk then do not use these instructions unless you backup the Boot Camp partition the Machine package virtual first. * Also note that Fusion 2.0.0 may accidentally have a snapshot with the virtual partition Boot Camp Machine and it should not have, then you should check to ensure that the condition does not exist as well. (With merger closed if the partition Boot Camp Virtual Machine package is over 1 MB in size, then you might have a snapshot in place and do not continue with these instructions.)

1. If the merger is open, close it.

2. in a Terminal (/ Applications/Utilities/Terminal) copy and paste command, as the following and then press Enter and it will delete the partition Boot Camp Virtual Machine of the metadata and the Virtual Machine to help.

Note: This does not affect the Boot Camp partition install windows in that it does not remove it.  Also be sure you copy all the command line below, as well as, "RM" at the beginning of the ' (quote) after the s in the Machines. "

RM - dfr "/Users/$ the specified item was not found./Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines.

3. start Fusion (/ Applications/VMware Fusion) and select the Boot Camp partition on the window library of Virtual Machine, and then ctrl-click it and select Delete.

At the time current Windows 7 in any version is not supported by Apple on the Boot Camp partition, nor is it supported in any way under Fusion.

Although it is not supported, it will work however it depends what Guest select you when the virtual machine based on the creation of a regular file.  I don't got no problem using Windows Server 2008, when the virtual machine based on the creation of a regular file.

On your Boot Camp partition was a clean build or you have an existing Boot Camp partition previously Virtual Machine.  If you had a Boot Camp existing partition previously Virtual Machine then try the following.

VMware is a company so I doubt that you have implemented the company however, your statement is a bit ambiguous because it is not clear if your always talk your partition Boot Camp Machine virtual matter in Fusion, you tried to select each of them as an OS on the entrance of Boot Camp partition on the Virtual Machine library and it didn't help the Boot Camp Virtual Machine partition number or to be issues with creating virtual machines with these operating systems.

  • Where did the Boot Camp partition goes after VMware?

    Hi all

When I was with Boot Camp the last time, there was this partition called "Untitled" on my desktop Mac, which is the partition for Windows XP.

After using VMware Fusion for the Boot Camp partition, the "Untitled" icon disappeared from my office.

Can I know what happened to that partition?

Thanks in advance for any help.

A single operating system can control one partition at a time.  If the Boot Camp partition is disassembly of OSX and mounted in the VM when you start the virtual machine.  When you shut down the virtual machine, the Boot Camp partition should be resumed to OSX.

  • Windows 10 could not locate the boot camp partition

I'm trying to install 10 Windows on an iMac end of 2015 with a 512 SSD.  With the help of Boot Camp and an ISO of Windows 10, I am able to create the Bootcamp partition and the iMac restarts in the Windows of Windows installation. I enter my product key for my Windows 7 DVD and reach the screen showing partitions.  I select "disk 0 Partition 5 Boot Camp" partition and click on 'Format' according to the Apple support document.  The partition is then renamed to 'Drive Partition 0 5'.  When I select the next button, I get the following error message:- "we couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one.  For more information, see the Setup logs files'.  The Windows Installer does not progress.  I deleted the partition several times using bootcamp and restarted the installation and always get the same failure.

Any advice on how to install Windows would be greatly appreciated.  Boot Camp 6 will let me install Windows 7 on the iMac and so I need to use Windows 10.  I guess the Windows 10 ISO downloaded from Microsoft will work with the Windows 7 product key and Setup seems to accept it.

  • The Boot Camp Partitions drive and abandon

I am running OS X El Capitan, Version 10.11.5 early 2016, 12 inches and I am trying to load Windows 8.1 Pro using Boot Camp.  (ignore what is in the product box)

Boot Camp successfully created a program loading of Windows, including the Apple drivers on my USB.

I was able to successfully partition my HDD 256GB.  50 GB for Boot Camp and ~ 200 GB for my OS X.

After the partition, the Boot Camp program is finished and I have a screen with my Mac OS disc and my Boot Camp disk.   My Boot Camp drive is completely empty.

When I restart the Boot Camp, I gives me the possibility to remove the disc from Boot Camp.

How can I load Windows 8.1 on my Boot Camp drive?   Should I delete the disk Windows/Boot Camp Partition and start again?

Macs 2015 and more late do not use a USB Installer. Disconnect the external storage, launch BCA, delete the current Windows partition and start all over again. You must put the ISO of Windows in your Documents folder and it must be dismantled.

  • Lack of the boot camp partition

I use El Capitan OSX and I decided to install boot camp. I began installing Windows 7 and it has 100 GB. After installation in the Boot Camp Assistant the Macbook restarted and then appeared the installer of Windows 7. I started to install but then appeared the first problem - he says it takes 200 MB to install, but I had only 170 MB of space free (?) and is clearly not true, I always 70 GB left in the Mac OSX and 100 GB in the Windows side. So it will not let me install Windows...
The second problem is that it is not a boot camp partition, but it took 100 GB of memory of my Macbook. I tried to uninstall everything through the Assistant Boot Camp, but the only thing it allows me to do is to install a new windows and new partition...

    Please help ASAP!

  • Chaos of partition after you remove the boot camp partition

    Hello guys,.

After that I was updating win10 with the new update... that was a bad idea... I tried to do a clean install of it.
After failing to do so hard, im really stuck and don't know what to do:

boot camp will not let me delete, they 3rd option is still grayed out. so I deletet with tool drive and tried to install win10 via boot camp several times - it does not work because that is always something worng with the partition I chose to install it.

No, I think I really messed up my partitions and I don't really know what to do anymore, so I post this:

  • Samsung 850 EVO Solid State Drive works only with the MacBook Pro - Solution?

I recently bought a Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB Solid State Drive for mid 2012 MacBook Pro father. The computer was working properly, but it was just very slow. I took the old drive and installed the SSD. I took it to an Apple store so that they could install the OS. A guy at the Genius Bar met with me and first tried to install the OS via the Ethernet cable. It is impossible to install some general error. He then tried to install it on a disc. Which also failed. He said he was not familiar with the type of error that he saw. But he said it was a mistake 'bad '. He said he saw the SSD for my SATA cable worked. He concluded that the reader must be defective. I explained how it is virtually impossible because they have a rate of close to zero. He said: "well they are produced en masse" and explained how they could install a hard drive themselves for some too expensive price. A bit annoying.

In any case, I took the SSD back to my house and threw it in my desktop PC. It works very well. Then what should I do? Why am I not able to get the SSD to install it? From what I read, the Samsung 850 EVO should be compatible with a MacBook Pro 2012. Can I do to install it at home? Is that all I can say people at the Mac store to help them along?

Most likely, the drive is formatted for use with Windows computers. First step would be to format correctly for Macs.

This is Mac OS extended (journaled) with a GUID partition map.

OS X will only be installed on a properly formatted disk.

  • Miserable attempt to extend the Boot Camp partition

Long story as short as possible - 2011 MacBook Air with SSD 256 GB internal. Originally divided 50-50 between OS X and Windows 7 using Boot Camp Assistant. Yesterday I needed more space on the bootcamp partition. I managed to make OS X smaller using the partition disk utility but Windows Disk Manager would not extend the Windows partition because the newly created free space has been before it, not after. Rather than use one of the appropriate options to move the Windows partition, I made the mistake of trying AOMEI Partition Manager to get it within Windows. Of course, 96%, it failed saying that the partition table has been locked and forced me to restart. After that, no partitions are bootable disk.

I installed 10.11 on an external USB HDD to get the system started. In disk on the internal SSD flash disk utility, I see the Bootcamp partition always there (and can be fitted very well so it was moved successfully), but he does not see the OS X partition.

Don't lose the content of the OS X partition is no big deal that I have a time machine backup, I can restore. But at this stage because the partition table is messed up, I can't reinstall OS X disk without blowing the bootcamp partition and I want to preserve as much as possible.

In general, I am fairly computer-savvy, but completely green when it comes to partitions. I realize now that I should have followed one of the tried and true Mac-specific methods to do this. Mea Culpa!  Anyway, here is the output of the commands that I saw others provide:

  • Windows 7 smaller size of the boot camp partition

    Hello world

IM pretty new to mac and here next week, I want to buy the mbp 13 "retina 128 GB of storage. im a student of college and also the study, I might also want to play games and found that mac offer boot camp for w7. with my 128 GB of storage, which would be the smallest size of my partition w7, including some games total about 20 GB? 50 GB w7 partition would be enough?

    Thank you very much

    Hi Ashcroft:

This is a technical note on installing Windows 7 on Bootcamp. Install Windows 7 and previous versions on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support

My personal opinion is that 128 GB is perhaps not large enough even without installing Windows 7.

The new Macbook Pro is not really scalable. Memory is soldered in and the PCIe SSDS are very expensive. Also if you open the back of your computer to upgrade the SSD, you could void your warranty.

If you read some posts there are a few from today on people who want to spend 500 GB SSD as they meed more space.

So I consider getting more than 128 GB.

    Just my opinion.

  • Magic Mouse works only with the latest el capitan

Why Apple is not the problems with El Capitan (10.11.6) and it's Magic Mouse? The only way is connected to my MacBook Pro is to remove the com.app.bluetooth.plist at the end of each session and even that does not always work. When it is finally connected, the mouse connects and reconnects constantly during the session. The mouse is an Apple product, and Apple does not seem to recognize the problem or give anyone a viable solution.

    Hi all

Let me start of by saying I am new to Apple computers and I mainly used Windows or Linux operating systems.  Let me describe the problem.

One of my friends asked me to install Windows on their mac, after running Boot Camp by selecting my ISO, and allocation of 32 gigabytes for the Windows partition, it started downloading the required software.  After completing download he began to partition the hard drive, about 15 to 30 seconds in partitioning computer crashed.  When I turned the computer on the partition was gone and the usable space was smaller.  After looking around on the forms, I found a solution using the command:

    diskutil repairDisk disk0

It restored the main partition to its original size.  I've not run Boot Camp once again because I'm afraid it will crash everything simply.  I found the error report and I'll it paste it here:

I would just install Windows, I thank you in advance.

Disconnect all external devices. Run the SMC/NVRAM reset.

After installation of Windows starts, before choosing the partition bootcamp designated, disconnect all cables from physical network and do not connect on all networks, until you have installed the drivers BC and created a Windows system restore point. 32Gb can be low for W10 installation according to the installed physical memory.

  • GPIB analyzer works only with the Trace of e/s on the same computer

Following the advice on the basics of knowledge I want to capture Trace IO simultaneously with the

Capture on the field PC Analyzer.  This is because I have to go on a customer site and only want to

capture non-intrusive traffic GPIB.  The IO Trace does not capture the field of PC that has the GPIB +.

card.  When I run IO path on the Test PC, it works fine.  However, I want to avoid encroaching on the

Setting up clients to say IO Trace Facility.

If I run a basic series write and read VI. EXE on the PC in the field and to perform only IO capture of this

works fine (no instrument not attached - just to make sure IO Trace works on PCs in the field).  If I run the NOR

draw on its own on the field PC, then run the Test PC controlling Instruments, IO Trace is

    does not work.

At this point, I wonder if Analyzer and IO Trace can not run simultaneously on the same PC?

OR Trace does not work with GPIB cards +?

    Help much appreciated.  Thank you

Trace of e/s OR and GPIB Analyzer can be run on the same computer, but not in the way you want.

The GPIB analyzer is actually a Logic Analyzer, which "listens" for all lines GPIB directly from hardware. For this reason, it can be run from any computer connected to your GPIB topology, even it is not involved in the transers. This allows almost completely corner the bus logging.

Trace IO OR works with drivers OR Save function calls that are made. These function calls can only be captured the system where they are called, therefore NO IO Trace should run on the test computer. Trace IO NOR will always be a small impact on the time where the test system, due to the time it takes to connect to each call.
